Alice knows Wonderland is just a virtual world operated inside an asylum to which she’s been wrongfully committed, but she can’t find her way out—can’t find her way back to the life she lived before she woke beneath titanic trees and towering flowers. With the terrifying Red King searching for her and chaos all around, her only hope of escape lies in Shadow, a tall, mysterious being with glowing … glowing eyes, sharp claws, and a haunting grin who may be the maddest of them all.
But even if Wonderland isn’t real, her growing feelings for Shadow—and his desire for her—are. Can Alice and Shadow escape Wonderland together, or will she succumb to the madness like everyone else?

I loved everything about this book. The characters are so unique, in a world like I’ve never read before. The end was perfect. I was hooked from start to finish. Wonderful, wonderful book.
So this story was amazing! I wasn’t quite sure what to expect going in. I’ve read a lot of Alice in Wonderland retelling and the darker they are the better. This one did not disappoint. The plot is engaging. I really enjoyed the asylum vr aspect of it. Trust me you will want to read all about Alice and Shadow!! And I loved loved that he was a representation of the Cheshire Cat. Now I’m going to dive into the authors others books as this was the first I’ve read by her and now I need more!
Wonderfully reimagined
I really enjoyed this reimagining of Wonderland.. The speed of the story was perfect, the characters were just mad enough, and you see Alice and Shadow grow both as people and as a couple. My biggest complaint would be that the ending felt almost more surreal than Wonderland. Yes, you see the battle with the Red King, but what about the people that put Alice in the predicament to begin with? I would have liked to see some of that. Definitely a trip down the rabbit hole that was a wonderful way to spend a few hours!
Another winner from Tiffany Roberts. This was such a treat. It went in directions I did not expect not to mention had a heart-stopping trickster hero. Dang, I love me some tricksters.
This science fiction romance retelling of Alice in the Wonderland holds back no punches. The authors explore many serious themes in this story, and I found the emotional and psychological elements of the story immensely realistically handled. Despite exploring some very serious (and possibly triggering) topics, I thought the authors dealt with them with a great deal of sensitivity. The characters are fascinating, with a fairly strong female protagonist and an oddly charming male love interest. The world of Escaping Wonderland, i.e., “Wonderland” and its denizens have been very imaginatively written. The uncanniness that Lewis Carroll’s original masterpiece exudes is amplified ten-fold in this story, and that makes for a very thrilling read.
This book was like a roller coaster for me. At first it started off a little dark and twisted. Then a lot of action followed by slow burn and repeat. I have not seen Alice and wonderland in a while but seemed to follow a modern take on it. I really loved CC(Shadow) now my favorite character.
I absolutely loved this book, so much so that I have talked about it nonstop. The relationship between Alice and Shadow was just perfect. I loved watching them grow while they progressed through Wonderland on their journey, constantly arguing about reality versus…well…reality! Alice was adorable when Shadow said she was his and I took great joy in watching her process what he meant by those words. Watching Shadow pursue Alice was the most fantastic thing I have read in a LONG time. He would literally push until he reached the line that Alice drew, then toe it before backing off completely, and Alice would get used to that behavior, relax, and give in just a bit more…and her mind reeling, debating if he was really trustworthy or not. All while running from The Red King! The fact that Shadow does a damn good job of keeping her safe was amazing and the only thing that countered it was the Red King’s obsession with Alice. The explanation of Wonderland left me off kilter a lot of times and I reveled at the author’s use of words. They had such an impact that even I felt like I was immersed inside it! The ending of the book was just as satisfying. The realistic explanation of what Shadow looked like when he emerged and how he handled facing off with The Red King once and for all was exquisite. I fell in love with every moment of this book, even when it was so intense that I needed to put it down and walk away. Days later, my mind is STILL reeling from this adventure that I had the pleasure of exploring! Once I read a book, I usually don’t reread them. However, I WILL be rereading this one! Well done, Tiffany Roberts. You set out to create an enchanting setting to enthrall your readers and I consider myself thoroughly enthralled.

Although this is a bit wordy for my taste, I still gave it four stars for going the extra mile in describing the setting of “Wonderland”. This does have an HEA and is a romance, but has some dark aspects and betrayal in there. It’s definitely an interesting take on an old fairytale.
