Honoria lost her parents in the 9/11 attack, precipitating the move by what is left of her family to Witchwood Hollow, a place she’s meant to heal in – but also one, where there hides a patch of woods supposedly haunted by a witch. As the legend goes, once you go in, she traps you. But who believes old legends?Switching perspectives between Honoria; the witch (a noblewoman from the 1600’s, … dealing with finding a place to feel at home); and Albertine (an immigrant from England in the 1880s who becomes trapped in the hollow by the witch), ESCAPE FROM WITCHWOOD HOLLOW seeks to show us that maybe not every old legend ought to be discounted. Not if we want to make it out alive to share the tale.

I really enjoyed reading this book it different and only slightly what you expect it to be like and read like.
This was such a unique and gripping paranormal fantasy tale. I will advise that in the beginning you might have a lot of questions but keep reading/listening. When it all comes together you will be blown away by this story. Readers follow three different sets up characters in three different time periods. What they all have in common is Witchwood Hollow. It’s a forest that is claimed to be haunted by a witch that holds people captive inside of it. People go into the woods and never come out and no body is ever found. This book will shock you. But it’s more than just a paranormal tale. It’s also a coming of age story for so many of the characters. And get ready to be shocked by the twists. I know I was. This is a book I highly recommend to paranormal mystery fans. This narrator does a great job. I was able to tell who was who by her voice instead of the same style for every character. I definitely want to read more from this author.
Super excited to read this book !!
Honoria and her brother had to move after the loss of their parents in the twin tower attacks. As they get adjusted to their new town, they become familiar with the legend of the Witchwood Hollow. In an alternate timeline, we’re introduced to the witch and her victims.
I have very quickly become a fan of Jordan Elizabeth’s works. This is my fourth read by her, and I haven’t been disappointed yet. Like her other works, her characters are full fleshed out with believable backstories and wonderful relationships. Worldbuilding is always thorough and there’s plenty of suspense.
This book had something the others hadn’t so far, a time period jump of centuries between the two major timelines. Jordan did a fantastic job of outlining life in the old times as well as managing the story of the characters in the present time. While I was listening, I wasn’t sure how the two timelines would eventually converge but the author did not disappoint.
Another five star listen!
Narration was perfect.
This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
This book was not quite what I expected, to be honest. It’s been a long time since I read anything about witches and in all those books most of the witches were portrayed as revengeful, hateful, disgusting, etc. Not the case in EFWH.
This book is about 3 young women, who although they are in different time spans are linked to each other. It is easy to drift from the past to the present and back again.
Jordan Elizabeth does a spectacular job at grabbing your attention and redefining what a paranormal book is perceived as. This was a fast and very enjoyable read. The characters were well thought out and entertaining.
The ending was not what I was expecting. Although in a round about way I can see what it was written. It tied the three young woman together and made it known how they were relevant to each other.
If you are a looking for a unique and entertaining book I suggest you check out Escape from Witchwood Hollow.
My first book by this author and I was so impressed.
This story kept me glued to my kindle over the weekend. The book covers three time periods, 2001 after 9/11 and goes back in time to the 1600s and the 1800s. All times overlap and are connected by people that go missing in this haunted hollow. Witchwood Hollow is cursed by a witch who was driven there after a tragedy, anyone who ventures in there can’t get out and time seems to stand still. There are twists and turns that you don’t see coming and the ending is a shock.
The author kept the story flowing well, the characters were all interesting and the time jumping is well done and won’t leave the reader confused.
I look forward to seeing what else this author has written.
A well written story. It is full of mystery and intrigue. It revolves around place called Witchwood Hollow and three women from three different times. Well-developed characters and engaging circumstances makes it a good read. I enjoyed it a lot and it kept me on my toes until the very end.
Local legends state that it is haunted by a witch who doesn’t let anyone leave once they entered these woods. Honoria, who has come from a big city, starts to believe in the legend. She wants to uncover the mystery behind this place and she does but not how she expected. Leon is a friend who shares her passion to learn the truth about Witchwood Hollow. Together they uncover intriguing things about the place.
I loved how the story takes us back and forth through different centuries. A lot of lives are inter-connected through one place. Acts of few people that initiated Witch’s fixation of keeping people leads to ruin many life. On the other hand it connects many others. In many ways it was a tragic tale. I couldn’t put it down once I started reading. There are so many twists and turn through out the book. And ending was quite unexpected, yet epic! It is a must read for fantasy lovers, a story about magic, love, hatred and revenge. Sometimes the lines are blured and it is difficult to understand which side of the story is dominating and that makes it even more interesting to read.
I was asked to read Escape from Witchwood Hollow in exchange for an honest review. I read the description and knew it was different from my typical fluffy, angsty paranormal reads. But, I thought “Hey, why not?” and ended up giving it a shot. And yeah, this was different from my usual reads, but I actually really enjoyed it!
Going into this book, I didn’t know that there is actually some switching between points of view. This absolutely made the story that much better! It reads like an awesome mystery, where you get random pieces, but finally towards the end, everything starts to click into place and make sense.
I absolutely loved how everything came together and clicked! This book definitely gave me one of those lightbulb moments where I just had to stop and think “Wow, so that’s how all of this works!” And as for how exactly everything does work out, I’ve got one word for you…WOW! I don’t know if there is any other possible way the book could have wrapped itself up. It was just meant to happen that way.
Elizabeth truly managed to weave together a young adult story not about angst, but about grief. There was no whiny teenage girl, but instead one that is broken and completely relatable. Escape from Witchwood Hollow shows just how important and what individuals will go through for family and a sense of belonging.
