A Heartrending, Dramatic Return to Abundance, Texas
I love reading legacy series, and I have to say, Swenson’s Abundance series combines meaningful romance and engrossing storylines that span generations and keep me coming back to Abundance to read all about her great characters. Escape starts off with our hero, Cole, on the run from the law, caught in an impossible situation with nowhere to turn. His character tugged at my heartstrings. He’s never known the love and support of a strong family or really ever had anyone in his corner his whole young life. When he meets the Kinsens, he’s completely in awe of how their family supports and loves one another. He tries right from the beginning to earn no-nonsense, ranch owner Jack Kinsen’s trust. There’s just one problem with that plan—Dallas Kinsen. Jack and Natalie’s daughter from the beginning of the series is all grown up now and Cole can’t stop thinking about her.
Dallie is completely taken with the handsome drifter who’s come to work on her family’s ranch. She’s immediately drawn to the quiet young man and can’t help but want to do her best to strike up a friendship with him. Their friendship quickly grows into more and I really loved all the sweet, coming of age moments the two of them shared.
I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen to poor Cole. Luckily, he had Dallie to see him through everything and stick by him even through his darkest hour. I also really enjoyed reading more about the other couples from this series. Jack and Natalie and Jordan and Nate were all there again and I thought Swenson did a great job of continuing their stories even while telling Dallie and Cole’s.
Escape is full of suspense, a strong sense of family, sweet moments as well as some steamy ones and is an all round great contemporary western read. I can’t wait to get back to Abundance and read more!
If you loved the main characters in the first 2 Abundance books then you’re going to love this addition to the family. While Escape from Abundance centers around Dallas and newcomer Cole, we get to see a lot of old favorites as well. Natalie, Jack, Nate & Jordan all play prominent roles in this book and it was wonderful to see them all again. This book starts off 14 years after book 1 begins, so now little Dallas is all grown up and ready to head off to college. This book has a good combination of sexy/steamy scenes and cute/chaste scenes. I think that really helped when reading about Dallie as a grown up now. You really get to see her evolution from girl to woman and I appreciated that. This book also perfectly sets up another book in the series and I can’t wait to go back to Abundance and read it!
Cole Callahan is on the run–his past makes him the prime suspect in the murder of his best friend. He is out to make a new life, and to try and escape the haunting memories of finding his murdered friend. He ends up at the Kinsen ranch to work and save up for his next run, and is soon in awe of a family system filled with love and support. Little does he know his heart will be captured by the owner’s daughter, Dallie–but as their romance and passion heat up, will she ever be able to understand and accept his troubled past? And most importantly, will he?
Dallie Kinsen is about to enter a new life path as she spends her last summer before college on the ranch. Her dream is to become a veterinarian, but will her dreams be dashed for her new love? Author Shanna Swenson takes us on another drama filled journey in this latest tale of romance, mystery and intrigue with the folks in Abundance, Texas. Dallie’s parents, Nat and Jack, support and give others the benefit of the doubt, but when it comes to their daughter, no one is above their family law.
As the detectives close in, Cole knows his time is limited. Has he been set up, or is he guilty? Will his desperation lead to tragedy? Or will love heal the ravages of violence and a tragic past? A great read that keeps you glued to the page ’til the very end with many twists and turns. Author Swenson delivers again, and I can’t wait for the next journey to Abundance!
It was strange at first to read that Dallas is now all grown up but it was another fantastic story from this wonderful author with a few surprising twists thrown in the mix. This is my first cowboy romance and i loved this serise so much and look forward to more
I took a trip to my favorite vacation spot Abundance TX in the third installment of the Abundance saga (however there is a free prequel available on Shanna’s website that is the perfect start to the series) following the Kinson/Cameron clans and some friends we’ve met along the way. This book is a little different in the fact that it is written 14 years after the second book takes place and follows Dallie who we fell in love with as an adorable four-year-old with a special gift when it comes to horses as she navigates becoming a woman and all that entails.
As Dallie prepares to leave her home and loving, supportive family for the first time to attend college, Dallie faces all the doubts and fears of the unknown.
It’s the summer before her first semester when Cole Callahan arrives at Kinsen Ranch looking for work and hiding a secret. Jack Kinsen, Dallies dad decides to give the young drifter a chance and allows him to work, and live on the Ranch. With this one decision, he sets in motion a love story he never saw coming and would do anything to stop.
Cole is drawn to the pure goodness in Dallie, something he has never experienced before. Dallie sees nothing but potential in the quiet stranger whom she believes has a heart of gold. While dealing with her feelings about leaving home, she now has to understand her growing feelings for this enigmatic man who she can’t stay away from and what that means for her future. In true Shanna Swenson fashion, nothing comes easy, and the twists and turns keep your fingers flipping pages.
Shanna’s descriptions and settings are beautifully written, and if you’ve read her work before, you know a good love scene is never too far away.
Sweet and sexy. Romantic and thrilling. Family and friends and all the love you can handle. This and more is what you can expect from a trip to Abundance.
Dallie grew up loved and sheltered. Cole was raised as a rebellious foster child. Upon finding his best friend dead at work, Cole flees so he’s not blamed for the murder. He seeks shelter at a ranch in Abundance where he meets Dallie—his new boss’ daughter. This innocent young woman has got a lot to learn about life and love, and who better than Cole to teach her? Together they spark a story of puppy love and the satisfaction that comes from many firsts. Their love swoons you in such a way that makes you cheer them ON. Although Dallie and Cole are the main focus in this book, we still get a lot of Jack and Natalie, still. And just enough of Nathan and Jordan. If you liked “Abundance” and “Return to Abundance”… you will absolutely love this one!
I cannot tell you how excited I was to read book 3 of this amazing series!! Finally getting grown up Dallie’s story!
Shanna does it again. I just love how she writes and have not only the different POV from the 2 main characters but also the secondary characters as well! It is so cool how you can feel the scenes from everyone’s POV!
Dallas isn’t the little baby Dallie anymore. She is a grown 18 year young lady trying to figure out the world before she goes off to college. Which she is having a hard time dealing with leaving her only home she has known and her family. I mean aren’t we all scared of new beginnings?!
Cole, this young man just pulled my heart strings and I couldn’t help but just fall in love with him. I don’t want to give things away but man you get hit with feels right off the bat with this one! I knew right away that my heart was going to hurt for Cole.
But don’t let that full you cuz it is a HEA! But like with the other 2 books there are twist and turns!
If you haven’t read any of the other books in the Abundance series, what are you waiting for?! These are by far some of my FAVORITE cowboy romances!
5⃣+
Shanna strikes gold again! I love the Abundance series, and this continuation gave me what I needed.
Cole and Dallie were adorable, good kids at heart who sweetly fall for each other despite facing serious obstacles. I loved seeing the Kinsen/Butlers grow more – Savannah is so grown and delightful! Nat and Jack dealt with relatable issues every parent must face, and some were more intense than most people could handle. I loved seeing more of Nate and Jordan, my favorite Abundance couple, going strong after their struggles.
I will refrain from saying more for fear of spoilers. Read the entire series because it is worthwhile. This family has experienced countless tragedies, but they find a way to persevere thanks to their sincere love and devotion to each other.
Can’t wait for the next one! Thanks again, Shanna, for another lovely installment of my favorite cowboys and cowgirls
