The Arizona Vengeance are developing a reputation on the ice as one of hockey’s top teams. But one player’s reputation off the ice might just keep him from scoring. . . . I’m having the time of my life with my new brothers on the Arizona Vengeance. We may be an expansion team, but after notching some big wins, the entire league knows to watch out for Erik Dahlbeck. That’s me. The only person who … me.
The only person who doesn’t seem to think I’m so great? Blue Gardner, the hot-as-f*** flight attendant on our team plane. I sure wouldn’t mind joining the mile-high club with her, but besides bringing me lukewarm coffee, she won’t give me the time of day. Whatever I did to rub Blue the wrong way, my teammates think it’s hilarious. After all, we’re used to women flocking to us. #puckbunnies
When I run into Blue back on land, I’m shocked to learn how she spends her time off: taking care of her handicapped brother. There are layers to this girl I never imagined, layers I can’t wait to peel away. And that’s a new feeling for me.
But first I’ve got to find a way to melt that ice-cold stare. Because as much as I try to pretend I don’t care what Blue thinks of me, how can you not care when you’re falling for someone?
Praise for Erik

Another great read in this series.
Looking forward to the next one.
A former playboy finds himself attracted, and tongue-tied, by the strong-willed flight attendant who seems impervious to his charms in this sweet and scorching romance set amidst the world of hockey. As a past one night-stand rears it’s ugly head though, both of them have to put the past behind them to make a meaningful future in a journey that has a bump or two along the way.
Hockey star Erik Dahlbeck grew up with a father who enjoyed the ladies. He saw from an early age just how disposable women could be and throughout the early years of his career he treated women like Kleenex. He’s older and wiser now though, and especially leery after a bitter woman’s accusations towards him and others on the team, and is no longer willing to waste time on superficial encounters. The sizzling attraction he’s been feeling towards the Vengeance’s flight attendant especially has him rethinking his love life and has him going all out in a journey to win Blue over. It’s a journey that shows him in an all new light, shows him to be kindhearted and generous with his time and money. He lavishes attention on Blue, makes her feel like the center of his world in a slow and steadily-paced journey to HEA. The previous book in this series showed him to be a carefree and fun loving player, but here he exudes a more matured persona. He’s quick to jump in when Blue needs help with her disabled brother, but he does so to make things better for the both of them as opposed to just doing it to make himself look good in her eyes. He shows a lot of substance throughout this story, a protective side and a desire to make things right for those wronged. He quickly became the quintessential book boyfriend, with his words and deeds charming me every step of the way, in a story that warmed my heart while making me blush a time or two along the way.
Blue Gardner grew up as a nerd with awkward looks that had her being bullied, until the day she blossomed and captured all the boy’s attentions. This blossoming changed her life dramatically, taking her to California and having her become a Party Girl. It’s during that time that she first met Erik in an encounter that forever colored her impressions of him and has her still fighting her attraction to him now. Time has changed her though, the death of her parents and taking responsibility for her disabled brother has changed her too, and it’s left her focusing on all work and no play. She’s rather standoffish in her early interactions with Erik, guarded and judgmental over their previous encounter years ago. In spending time with him though she discovers hidden layers, a kind heart, and a man who will do anything to make things easier for her. Their relationship starts out slowly and sweetly with him showering her with attention. He makes her feel important and well-loved, gives her solid support when she needs it most in a connection that warmed my heart. Throughout her time with Erik it was her brother Billy who he also had to win over as he was a major part of her life. Guilt over leaving Billy behind before has her overly protective now and rearranging her life to fit his. It’s an admirable thing to do for her brother, but it also gave her an excuse when things got too serious in her relationship with Erik. I admired her unconditional love for Billy but she also used him as a shield which frustrated me a bit as it made Billy look needy instead of a capable individual, as many disabled people are nowadays. On a whole though I liked Blue and found her to be someone easy to relate to. She was outgoing, socialable, and protective of those she cares about. She could admit when she was wrong and it had me rooting for her after a knee-jerk reaction late in the story brought about her Grand Gesture to win Erik back.
This was a delightful romance full of heart and soul as a second chance to make a lasting impression led to an unforgettable journey to HEA. Former playboy Erik has now become the kind of man you can depend on. He no longer cares for superficiality and longs for someone with substance which is why Blue fascinated him so much and why he does all he can to prove himself to her. He doesn’t rush their relationship which made their journey all the more fulfilling as they spent time growing closer. Blue was a strong-willed heroine who, for the sake of her brother, was willing to accept all the help Erik offered to make things better for Billy. Making Billy happy made her happy, and even though Erik used that fact to get closer to her at first, he also did it because he truly liked Billy. At journey’s end this trio made for an intriguing family as Erik easily interacted with Billy and loved Blue all the more for her devotion to her brother. Billy’s disability was seamlessly incorporated into the story and as a quadriplegic myself I appreciate Ms. Bennett bringing the realities of disability to light, warts and all. Billy was an active participant in the action and I enjoyed his interactions with all the characters as it humanized them, showed those seen as playboys in a more positive light. Along with this immensely appealing main couple came an equally likable cast of secondary characters whose stories are just being touched on here. The men of the Arizona Vengeance are a larger than life group of hockey players, drool-worthy and protective of each other both on the ice and off. The players who readers are introduced to are an unforgettable group and each one grabbed a piece of my heart as this series progresses. The first to leave his mark is the outspoken playboy Dax, caught up in a tale told by a vindictive woman, who continues his playboy ways here while acting as the catalyst for another couple starting to get closer. He was sexy and snarky and I look forward to the woman who will finally tame him. Team leader Legend lives up to his name as all the women want him while he’s more than happy to prove his prowess. His story, coming up next, promises to entertain as his new neighbor has undertaken a battle to get under his skin…and it seems to be working in a battle full of sexual tension. The final player to pull at my heartstrings is Team Captain Tacker who’s still dealing with the grief of losing his fiancée in a plane crash in which he was the pilot. The guilt is clearly taking its toll, the anger building as the usually calm hockey player gets suspended for fighting. The time he spends with Billy, and the story he shares with Blue, gives readers deeper insight into his past and it had me aching for him and longing for his story to be told. On a whole this was a beautifully paced story with a charming romance full of steam and smiles. The action on the ice is exhilarating for fans of sports romances while the action off the ice will immensely satisfy all lovers of romance in another decadently delightful addition to the Arizona Vengeance series.
‘Erik’ is the second book of Sawyer Bennett’s new series Arizona Vengeance. If you are not crazy like me, who cannot read a book from a series before reading all the previous books, this book could definitely be read as a standalone. But of course I really recommend you to read ‘Bishop’, the first book of the series, first 🙂
If you already read the first book you are familiar with our hero, Erik and our heroine, Blue. Erik Dahlbeck is the enforcer of the Arizona Vengeance, new expansion team of the league. He is successful, hot, cocky and totally ladies-man. He is used to women throwing themselves at him. So when he boards to the team plane, see the hot flight attendant and starts flirting with her, he is sure she will jump to the opportunity to be the next notch on his bedpost. Guess what he gets! IGNORED!!! Wuuuhuuu! Our beautiful, strong, stubborn flight attendant Blue Gardner is immune to Erik’s advances or seems like that. She won’t give him the time of day. Erik cannot understand why he is the only one who gets the icy attitude from Blue. Since he cannot remember blowing his chances with her five years ago, it is normal that he cannot understand Blue’s reasoning.
Blue’s life wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows but she didn’t let it beat her down. Event hough, she was running away from responsibility and tried to live her life freely, she couldn’t do it for a long time. After losing her parents, she gets the sole responsibility of her handicapped brother. She works hard and try to provide the best care for his brother. She tries to spend all her off time with her brother. During one of their outings Erik runs into them. Witnessing Blue’s interaction with her brother, Billy, her sweet and caring side, only makesErik’s attraction towards her stronger. Once he finds a way to make Blue agree to go on a date with him, he doesn’t let it go. I loved how Eric feels protective towards Blue and Billy. He is sweet, caring and try his best to support both of them.
‘Erik’ is sweet, sexy, heartwarming and entertaining story. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book of the series, whisch is Legend Bay’s story. Even though I am looking forward to readLegend’s book because I think Legend mixed with Pepper, aka Flamingo Lady, will be really entertaining, I am dying to read is Tacker Hall’s story. And I also would like to read Dax Monahan and Arizona Vengeance’s owner Dominik Carlson’s story.
• Would I recommend this book: Yes.
• Would I re-read this book: Yes.
• Would I read future books by this author: Yes .
Sawyer delivers a hot hockey player to steal your heart!
Follow the story of Eric, known playboy as his past comes back and hits him square in the heart! He’s attracted to Blue in the worst way, he keeps hitting on her on the team plane and she keeps shooting him down. She hates him so much but why? When he see’s Blue out with her brother Billy, he wants to get to know her on a whole different level. When she shares the past with him, can he make up for it and assure her that it won’t happen again?
I loved Eric, what an amazing character, as well as Blue & Billy! Great job once again Sawyer, my heart is overloaded with love of your hockey players!! Looking forward to the next one! 5 hockey pucks for this one! Grab it as soon as it comes out!!
4.5 stars
From the moment Erik met Blue in the first book of this series, Bishop, I’ve been anticipating their story. Sawyer Bennett never disappoints. They are both such amazing characters.
There are things that happen with these two that I can’t even allude to without giving spoilers, but I’m going to say that I’m glad the author didn’t give them an aha moment where everything is seen with such clarity that there are bluebirds singing on their shoulders. Erik has never hidden the fact that he’s been a player (and I don’t mean a hockey player). Although Blue is now a very sensible woman with heavy responsibilities on her shoulders, she had her wild days in her past also. So keeping them grounded in reality when it comes to their past was a great choice in this story.
As always, this author writes unbelievable chemistry between her hero and heroine. The restraint that is shown by both Erik and Blue while they have such a connection is a lot of fun to read. Quite frankly, it made me fall even harder for them both.
There is something so sweet about the way the guys on this hockey team lean on one another. Sure, they have their brotherly moments where they rib each other. But it’s undeniable that they will all have each other’s backs no matter what. Both the ribbing and the got your back mentality are displayed with Legend and Tacker in this story. I know it’s not Tacker’s time yet…he isn’t ready. I sure want to give that man a hug, though. With Legend, I see a lot of fun coming when his story is told. I cannot wait.

There’s just something about the way Sawyer Bennett writes her hockey series. It’s the perfect balance of the romance we crave and the sports we love. Erik just might be my favorite hockey book from Bennett to date. It’s a sweet and sexy second chance romance that is filled with fun, flirty and dirty moments.
Erik has the hots for Blue, one of the flight attendants that works on the chartered flights for Arizona Vengeance. The problem is, she wants nothing to do with him and he can’t figure out why. To him, that’s just a challenge he’s willing to take on but as things progress, he really starts to see Blue for who she is and he can’t get enough of her.
I like the two of them together. Erik is the reformed player who has a heart of gold and Blue is a strong, undefended woman who’s heart equally matches Erik’s. They are steamy, sexy and an overall fun couple that you naturally gravitate to.
This book is the second installment in the Arizona Vengeance series but it can be read as a stand alone. However, once you finish this book, you’ll want to go back and get Bishop’s story and you’ll be left dying for the rest of the team’s stories. I’m hooked, that’s for sure.
For some reason I skipped reading Bishop (book 1 in this series) and I’m kinda regretting it now I know from her Cold Fury Hockey series that Bennett delivers sizzling page turners and Erik proved no different.
Blue doesn’t like Erik and she’s not afraid to show it. He’s not sure why, but he’s going to find out. She sure isn’t going to make it easy, though, and from the very first I knew it would be entertaining. Things have pretty much gone his way up to this point and Erik’s not had to fight for much. But the more that he gets to know Blue, the more effort he’s willing to put in. Charming, sharp, and sexy, he plans to pull out all the stops to show Blue why he’s worth giving a chance.
If you are looking for a spicy read that has heart, Bennett is definitely a go-to author. She knows how to make things hot but she also gives you delightful characters and relationships that you can really get involved in.
(While Erik is part of a series, it can easily stand on its own.)
**Review given honestly and freely after receipt of a reader copy. This opinion is completely my own and was not influenced in any way.**
Is there anything better than a Sawyer Bennett hockey book?
The Cold Fury will always have a special place in my heart as my first ever hockey books, but the Arizona Vengeance is quickly becoming a favorite.
Since briefly meeting Erik in book one, I’ve been intrigued. He has this cocky, devil-may-care attitude that makes him irresistible. He’s a bit of a playboy (that might be an understatement) but he’s not a total jerk. At least not anymore. He’s charming, sexy, and playful. In my opinion, that’s a lethal combination.
Blue is more complex that I originally thought. She tends to give Erik a hard time, but for good reason. She definitely keeps him on his toes. She’s loving, loyal, and dedicated too. She also might be the only woman around that is immune to Erik’s charms and shameless flirting. Or at least she tries to be.
I loved watching these two together. The chemistry in their interactions is palpable, even if Blue doesn’t want to admit there’s chemistry in the first place. This is another sexy addition to the Arizona Vengeance series, and I can’t wait to read more!
I received a copy via Netgalley and voluntarily left a review and all my opinions are my own.
If there is one thing that I always highly anticipate is getting to know another one of Sawyer Bennett’s hockey hotties. So when Sawyer teased her readers with little snippets of Erik and Blue’s heated exchanges in her last book “Bishop” in her Arizona Vengeance series, I was ready and willing to see more of the emotional upheaval and undeniable attraction that takes place between these two.
Erik Dahlbeck piqued my interest before Sawyer even got around to his story. I couldn’t wait to dive beneath his cocky, suave surface and get to know this hero in and out. It wasn’t long into his story and Sawyer shows us how much a person can really change and grow into the hero that a reader is now madly in love with. The more I got to know him, I just knew that he was the right man for Blue in every way possible. He melted me to my very core and I couldn’t get enough of him!
Blue Gardner left me curious with her snarky attitude towards Erik in “Bishop” and I couldn’t wait to find out what had her acting so cold towards him when we all knew that all she should want to do is get closer to this gorgeous hero. The more I got to know about Blue the more I realized the guilt and shame she still carried from her past. I just wanted to hold her in my arms and tell her everything would be okay and take some of her problems off of her shoulders. Luckily she has Erik to do just that after he proves to her that he is not the person she thinks he is.
Sawyer Bennett delivers a love story that keeps us hot and bothered from the beginning and ready to see this hero and heroine put their animosity aside and get down to matters of the heart. I highly recommend Erik for a romance that shows us that the past doesn’t have to be a part of the future, it can just help us learn from our mistakes and come out the victor. I never fail to find something in Sawyer Bennett’s stories that resonates with me and pulls at my heart strings while simultaneously giving me the passion that I crave for my fictional couples.
I absolutely LOVED Erik!
Erik is such a player as part of the Arizona Vengeance hockey team. Then there’s Blue. A flight attendant on the team plane. Sparks are flying but Blue won’t give him the time of day. It’s pretty funny watching how they interact with each other. But there’s so much more to Blue than being a flight attendant. She’s solely responsible for her disabled brother.
Can Erik finally get Blue to give him the time of day? I couldn’t put this book down!
Funny, sexy and sweet, Erik won me over
Book 2 in the Arizona Vengeance series, while reading book 1 gives you a little extra background, this works perfectly well as a standalone. Additional, while this is a spin-off from the Cold Fury series—and there are a few brief mentions of the team and some of the players—you don’t need to have read any of the Cold Fury books to enjoy this series.
I wasn’t Erik’s biggest fan after the first book, being more interested in some of the other secondary characters, but this is one of my go-to authors so I trusted that Eric would manage to redeem himself both in my eyes and in Blue’s by the end of the book. What I didn’t expect was just how deep a hole he’s in with Blue, and finding out why she’s been so hostile towards him had me hooked early on and reading eagerly for more. I really enjoyed watching Erik work to win Blue over, and I absolutely loved that both these characters acted like adults, sometimes making mistakes but taking responsibility when they needed to, and both openly admitting to their emotional investment.
There were lots of laughs here, and of course I loved so many of the secondary characters—the scene at Legend’s Halloween party with his neighbor not only had me laughing but certainly had me on the hook right away for their story. Sucker for the tragic hero that I am, I can’t wait for Tacker to get his HEA, and team owner Dominick has me highly intrigued as well. While I did think the plot was a little predictable, it didn’t really detract from the story for me.
Funny, sexy and sweet, Erik won me over just as completely as he won Blue, and I’m looking forward to Legend and Pepper. 5 stars

They got off on the wrong foot literally! When Erik steps on the team plane for the first time he tells air hostess Blue you look like a party girl. Disgusted by his cocky and rude demeanour she decides to ignore him every time they are on the Phoenix Vengeance plane. Erik can’t stop watching or wanting her though. When he sees her at the fair with her disabled brother he wants, no he needs to find out everything he can about her life. He asks Blue point blank what did I do to upset you? She throws him a bone, he is left speechless and they decide to at least be friends. After a dare she goes on a date with him and he slowly wiggles his way in to her life. Of course nothing runs smooth, there is always turbulence to be found along the way.
Oh how I love me some Sawyer Bennett hot hockey romance!!!
After reading Bishop, I of course couldn’t wait for the next book. Erik did not disappoint!
Erik Dahlbeck loves his life…he plays for Arizona, gets any woman he wants and just generally wins lol
Meeting his beautiful Blue flight attendant poses an instant challenge for this confident, used to getting what he wants Playboy.
This story is filled with not only what we’re used to by this author, but also has her signature heart feels.
Erik’s getting to know Blue also leads him to want to get to know Billy. Blues handicapped brother.
Lots of feels in this one, as well as hot hockey players, steamy times & a well written story!
Love this Author & ALL her hockey books!
Highly recommend
I can’t wait for more…
4.5 Stars
Erik by Sawyer Bennett is the second book in the Arizona Vengeance series and was sooooo good! It can be read as stand-alone, but I do recommend reading the first book as well. I couldn’t wait to get my hands on Erik’s story and Ms. Bennett did not disappoint. Erik and Blue’s story is full of romance and heart and it was unputdownable!
With a successful ice hockey career Erik Dahlbeck has made a name for himself both on and off the ice. Off the ice, he is known to be a ladies man. Women don’t say no to him. So when the teams flight attendant Blue wants nothing to do with him it really just makes him want her more. He is determined to find out the reason behind why she keeps ignoring him…
Blue does not have an easy life. She works hard to take care of not only herself but her handicapped brother too. Now on top of all of that she’s dealing with Erik and his player ways. She’s able to ignore the never ending flirting but as soon as she starts to get to know the real him, all bets are off. Will she be able to love the man beneath the player?
I absolutely loved this book! Ms. Bennett seriously gives me all the feels! And while this book wasn’t over emotional or angsty or dramatic, it is so well written and full of love. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
Erik Dahlbeck is one of the newest members of the Arizona Vengeance hockey team. He enjoys his share of time in the spotlight as well as the beautiful women that follow with fame. His skills both on and off the ice have his fans fawning all over him, except for one particular flight attendant that won’t even give him the time of day.
Blue Gardner, one of the lead flight attendants on the Vengeance charter plane is used to men flirting with her and trying to get her into bed… and Erik Dahlbeck is just like all the others. Blue only puts up with his attention for the sake of her job to provide for her younger brother and pay for his care at an assisted living facility. She doesn’t have time for men that only want to play games and continuously gives Erik the cold shoulder.
After learning that he and Blue share a past, Erik is determined to show her that he is more than just a handsome hockey player. He has never felt a pull towards a woman like the way that he is drawn to Blue. Will he be able to prove that he can be serious about a relationship and that he truly cares for her? Or will history repeat itself leaving Blue with a broken heart?
(I received an ARC of Erik from Sawyer Bennett and Penguin Random House in exchange for my honest review.)
Erik’s story is the classic tale of a party boy that is determined to prove himself as more than just a a good roll in the sheets. He is willing to do what ever it takes to win over Blue, including care for her brother who needs extra time and attention. Together Erik and Blue can have a fairy-tale ending, if only their past doesn’t get in the way. This is the perfect romantic novel for hockey fans!
The story isn’t just about Erik and Blue it is also about people with disabilities. How Erik treated Blue’s brother was a true look into his heart. It showed Blue there was more to Erik than just his playboy ways. It’s a tremendous story of love.
I love Sawyer’s hockey series. She makes it so easy to get sucked into this world that she has created for her readers. Every book is oh so good, but this book was a bit different for me. I of course fell I need love with Erik and Blue. But I found myself so excited for what could be happening with characters in future books. There is so much potential for what is coming up next in this book that readers can’t help but get excited.
Good Lortttt Erik is just…just so amazing. I love his big strong self. He plays Hockey so there is that. He is hot, sexy, and all the things!
He knows he was a jerk face in the past, but he wants to make it right, not only for himself but for Blue.
Blue is stunning and doesn’t even realize it. She is selfless. She deserves better then the old Erik was willing to give her.
He knows that and he tries to give her everything and more. When Blue finally lets him in she has no choice but to fall head over heels for him. He shows her a very different side of himself and she kind of likes it even tho she tries to tell herself it can’t last.
They have an amazing physical connection, but their emotional connection is so strong that falling in love is not an option, it just happens.

I absolutely loved this book! This is Blue and Erik’s story. Erik is a pro athlete and Blue is the flight attendant on the team plane. Erik is a big flirt and enjoys the playboy life. However is charm doesn’t work on Blue, she seems to despise him. Blue has a lot on her plate and doesn’t have time for a player that doesn’t ever remember her! Will she give in and give him a chance?
Edited for audio review:
Ladies, I just received a HUGE reminder why I loved this book. You see, I read the Kindle version last October, and just received to chance to listen to the Audible version. OMG!!! Listening to Jason Clarke, Ava Erickson tell the story, I fell in love with this book ALL! OVER!! AGAIN!!! The performance of this book was just phenomenal. When I closed my eyes, I could actually see the book in my mind as they were performing it. Phenomenal job Sawyer Bennett on picking these two to tell this wonderful story!!! Kudos one and all!!
Ladies, yes you, this book is phenomenal. I LOVE when a bad boy gets his head out of his rear posterior and learns to fly straight!!! Blue and Erik, phenomenal couple, they are definitely made for each other. Well at least after Blue realizes that Erik is not the as… donkey he used to be. Sorry, have to keep this PG. I love this story. I really enjoyed watching Erik have to work to win Blue back. You see, he does not remember meeting Blue before… at least not the first time, or even the third time he sees her on the Vengeance plane where Blue is one of the flight attendants. He can’t figure it out why Blue is always giving him the cold shoulder. So when Blue tells him before she would even think about dating him she tells him has to get his…. Sorry ladies, not spoilers. I will say this…. It was VERY painful, and he took a lot of flack from his team mates.
I think one of my favorite parts in the book does not have anything to do with Blue and Erik. It pertains to Legend another player on the Vengeance team. If you are a love hockey and are a fan of the Penguins and/or Golden Knights, you will know what I am talking about when you read this book. Again, sorry ladies, I am giving nothing away. If you want to know, you will have to read this spectacular book.
OK, now I am conflicted. I have been a fan of Ms. Sawyer’s Cold Fury series from the beginning, OMG this series is just as great, if not… no, I can’t quite say better…..yet!!!
If you like a great hockey romance, then this book is definitely for you. YOU! WILL!! LOVE!! THIS!! BOOK!!
Thank you for reading my review.
