“WOW! A totally different type of cozy mystery. Definitely looking forward to more!!!”“I liked the characters who were varied and interesting, especially the canines.”With a sense of urgency, four close friends return to their respective homes only to discover that nothing is quite the way they’d left it. Their family members are behaving strangely and their dogs, in particular, are far different … in particular, are far different than they ever imagined could be possible.
Will Hewey, Rob, Jason and Samantha get to the bottom of what’s really going on in the town of Eppington? And if so, will they be able to fix what seems like the impossible?
A brand new, exciting cozy conspiracy by award-winning author Tanya R. Taylor!

This was a very whimsical read and written for a YA audience, but one that an adult would find quirky but fun. A flying saucer comes to town and turns everything around. This promises to be another great series from Tanya Taylor.
Absolutely excellent.a strange and wonderful tale by a magnificent story teller! I can imagine this really happening. What would the world be like if positions were res versed between animals and people? What about if all the poor became rich and the rich became poor? Would we or the animals have compassion for one another? I can’t wIt for more in this series to see how the mystery unravels
Eppington: Where Dogs Rule by Tanya R. Taylor is a different kind of cozy mystery that will keep you turning pages to the end. This is the first in the series and I found it to be compelling and fascinating. The plot and characters are well developed and the main character, Hewey Spader, relates the events in a very unusual manner.
Although I own this book, Amazon will not allow me to post a review because of their illogical “community guidelines”.
I highly recommend this book, but I would suggest that you purchase it from another source other than Amazon.
Blink too long and your world will be gone…
A strange object, a ball of light, and a day of fishing at the lake for four young friends turn their small town into the stuff of nightmares.
Tanya R. Taylor creates a new world where old scores are settled and injustices are righted – if you are a dog – not so much if you are a human. As a series starter, it offers a tantalizing glimpse of things to come but I would have liked to have just a little more story before the inevitable cliffhanger. I’m ready for the next book in the series so I can see what happens.
[review posted for paperback on Amazon]
“We were only three regular kids in a town overrun by some sort of strange phenomenon. And if we couldn’t get to the bottom of things soon, there was a high chance that our town would be doomed forever—and eventually, the three of us might become victims ourselves.”
When I first read about this book,I was scratching my head. Now how was Author Tanya R Taylor going to pull this one off? In a strange role reversal, this first in a series has those in charge becoming subservient to those not so much, and in true Taylor fashion , we have to wait until the next installment to get resolution.
I hope it’s as good as it could be. Highly recommended 5/5
[disclaimer: I received this from the author. I chose to read and review it]
Eppington: THE GUARDED SECRET – A Review by Rosemary Kenny
A whimsical ‘what if…?’ scenario, that’s suited to young adults (of all ages!), rather than younger children, who might be frightened by the idea of dogs suddenly swapping places with their owners and brain-washing them into placid submission.
Four teenaged high-school friends, Hewey Spader, Robert Powell, Jason (Jase) and Samantha, (Sam) form a close-knit coterie of genuine friends, who look out for each other and enjoy playing mischievous pranks on grumpy or unsuspecting neighbours, when not zooming off on their bikes to their secret HQ.
When the eponymous event transpires (and is described by narrator Hewey), the quartet, who’re on a jaunt in his Uncle Charlie’s ‘borrowed’ dinghy on Lake Olivia, little realises the implications of what they’ve just witnessed…

Great stuff to take away your Covid-19 fears and Lockdown Blues for a Happy Town hour or two!
WOW! A totally different type of cozy mystery. Definitely looking forward to more!!!
Remember the saying that dogs rule? Well that is true here or it will be after something happens. How would you behave if the animals took over and you became subservient to them? What happens to the human things like murder? Interesting that dogs get to rule. Have I intrigued you yet?
I admit that this book left me with lots of questions to be answered. Such as:
What happened to Mrs. Christie?
What really caused the change in the town? UFO? Or something else?
What do dogs really think of humans? What will they expect of humans now? (I admit I have been calling them human pets when I stop to say hi and give/get love from the ones walking their human pets. Been doing that for a while now. HMM?)
Is there a way to go back, or this the new normal, or will there be a hybrid option at some time? Can Hugo really have the answer? Especially in the first book a new series? I love his answer. Way the world should be!!!!!
I know the author probably didn’t expect this. There is a part in the book which really reminds me of human history. Not a pleasant history either. H humans seem to repeat it over and over again. I realize that this is a cozy mystery but our treatment of all creatures different from us is atrocious. Look at the Native Americans, slavery, Jewish population, Japanese, and other cultures. What about creature with dis- ease like lepers, black plague, other epidemics and pandemics. What about creatures with un-ease?
Are the dogs going to do the same? Or will they learn from human history not to make the same mistake.
Have to wait for the next book to see if we get answers.
Fun very fast read, easily done in a day. Warning though, the ending does not resolve issues more like continue next week to find out serial type ending.
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive a beta (before ARC) book.
Very Interesting story and also something I have thought about. I have always treated all my animals like my family and best friends. It’s something more people should think about because our animals don’t judge and love unconditionally.
