It was temptation that broke the sinner.People say I have everything. They’re wrong. I may have looks, money, and privilege, but I don’t have the one thing that really matters, the one thing I crave: a woman with eyes only for me. I’m searching for my woman—one who will fall to her knees because I’m her king. She’ll wear the crown of my tarnished name, and long for me when I’m not near. And when … I’m not near. And when I am close, she’ll be naked across my lap, feeling the sting of my palm across her milky skin.
You could say I’m a sinner because I’d do anything to have the perfect woman—compliant to my every need and whim—and I’m envious of every couple who walks around naive to the luxury they have.
That’s why I joined The Elite, the most prestigious brotherhood in the south.
It’s the one place that will give me what I cannot have.
Only…the task assigned to me is too much for my jealous eyes.
Accept your sin wisely, for the tasks given to earn your place are not for the weak…they’re for The Elite.
Those who envy have no peace.
My name is Sabastian Westbrook.
I am Envy.

Man! Envy’s story sure is crazy! I didn’t see it happening the way it was but it only makes things more intense. I want to understand the elite more!! Their power and what the end goal is! Ugh! I need answers!
3.5 Stars
Envy is the fourth book in The Elite Seven series and is definitely more on what I expected from these books, but it lacked in some areas for me.
Envy felt a tad rushed and didn’t really elude to anything new going on. We did get some “behind the scenes” on things that had happened in previous books but there was nothing truly new that developed til near the end. However, this book is the only one that truly delves into the actual sin, envy.
Sebastian (Envy) definitely isn’t a likeable character. He’s got his issues and how he handles them isn’t good. Sebastian is truly envious of others and the love they find, especially his elite brothers. And how he deals with his envious thoughts is extremely scary. He has very deep rooted issues and has no control over them.
While we didn’t learn anything new in the plot of the overall story, Envy definitely ranks higher on the scales of what I had anticipated in this series and made for a much suspenseful read. There is little to no romance in this book, which for me, actually works. When you are writing about the seven deadly sins, romance really doesn’t come to mind.
Overall, it was decent read. I did find myself skimming this one because there wasn’t a lot of depth or plot going on, however, I was intrigued as how to Sebastian played a role in everything. I did expect him to play a bigger role overall (and he may still with certain things that happened) but I expected this one to bit a more developed than what we got.
We shall see in the coming books what happens next……
This installment of The Elite Seven series was so different from the previous books. We got to know better about Sebastian and how he got involved with the Elite. He truly lived up to his sin Envy . There was no romance for him but only an object of his obsession. This book by far was the most twisted and messed up. I am a little disappointed that we didn’t move much forward with the backstory of the initiation. We only got some rehash of prior events with Sebastian’s side of the story. The cliffhanger at the end of the story gave me hope and triggered my anticipation for the next installment and I cannot wait to get my hands on Greed.
I received an advance reviewer copy of the book for free in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

Envy by M. N. Forgy is the fourth book in The Elite Seven Series. The third book, Wrath, left this HEA lover disappointed not to find rainbows and unicorns at the end of the book. Instead, Wrath left me broken-hearted and filled with my own version of wrath due to an unexpected cliffhanger. I was so heartbroken over the cliffhanger that my fellow Wickedcoolflight Crew member, FlyGirl, graciously allowed me to review Envy! By the time this post goes live, it will be afternoon so grab your glass of wine or whiskey, depending on how your Monday went, and let’s chat about Envy.
Envy is the story of Sebastian “Envy” Westbrook of the Westbrook crime family. As a child, Sebastian witnessed the brutal murders of his father and mother leaving him to be raised by two people who were not built to be parents. Their idea of parenting was to raise up a boy to be a man as fast as possible. He was told to show no emotion and have only two things in his mind: success and power. After a racing accident takes the lives of two people and lands Sebastian in the hospital, his uncle decides to send Sebastian to New Orleans to attend St. Augustine with the sole purpose of joining The Elite Seven. If Sebastian does this right, he could have everything he’s ever wanted…everyone would want to be him.
I’m just going to put it out there. I don’t like Sebastian. I didn’t like him in Pride or Wrath and I might even hate him a little bit after Envy. He is a sick man with a terrible temper who cannot be trusted because he is only looking out for his own best interests. Mason and Sam had soft, vulnerable sides but not Sebastian. He is capable of doing horrible things with no second thought.
Again, I love an HEA so I feel the need to warn my fellow HEA lovers…you won’t find one here. Envy is a dark suspense about a terrible man (who I hope will have a life-altering event before the end of the series…see I’m still looking for rainbows and unicorns). It will also leave you…with another cliffhanger. (I really miss reading actual books sometimes because there is such joy is slamming closed the book when you are frustrated with the storyline. Slamming the lid of your eReader just doesn’t provide that same level of satisfaction.) So guess what has happened? My dear friend, FlyGirl, has graciously allowed me to finish this series because I just can’t stop here. I have to see how everything wraps up. I just hope that my heart will survive all of the suspense. Envy by M. N. Forgy gets 4 out of 5 propellers even though I hate the main character but that character is the result of some really good writing!
Wow Sebastians story was a hard hitting cruel story that made me want more. I feel hes the twisted one so far his obsessions with the Elite, woman and wanting more makes it his downfall. He feels like hes the king as in the tasks and is being awarded greatly so far. Unfortunately he takes it to far and lets down a brother and his girl but do they know yet. I feel like this is gonna blow up in one of the future three books. I’d highly recommend as as a must read series and cant wait for more from this series. Exciting, brutal, hard hitting , a lot of sexual content but you wont regret it a must read.
*Spoiler Alert*
It has taken me a couple of days to process what happened in Envy after reading “The End”. There were aspects of this book that was thoroughly enjoyable, however, the parts that were not far outweighed the former.
What I enjoyed: the writing itself and the heroine. The author’s writing flowed beautifully and kept me on the edge of my seat. It was difficult to put Envy down due to wanting to know what happens next. And I adored Sabella. She was sweet, caring, innocent, and altruistic.
What I did not enjoy: the main character and the ending. Sebastian was incredibly difficult to connect with. I tried and tried, but it just wasn’t happening. I’m all for psychotic characters, but they have to have some redeeming qualities. In Sebastian I found none. He kills without a hint of remorse or thought to anyone else but himself. And the only remorse he did show (after his second murder) was due to the potential relationship he lost and very little to do with the life he just ended. The storyline: I have to have an HEA. I’m just one of those people. I understand that there are a multitude of people who don’t need that fairytale ending, but I do. Sebastian does not get, nor does he deserve a HEA. I was hurting and angry when I finished the book. And while I don’t mind feeling those emotions throughout the book, there has to be a way to make me feel better about it before reading that final sentence. Otherwise, the suffering isn’t worth it to me.
The author did have me emotionally entrenched when it came to Sabella and the overall storyline of the Elite Seven so I would never say this was a bad book. It just wasn’t the book for me. If you don’t need a HEA and enjoy dark/twisted reads, this is definitely the book for you.
Hmmm… well this is the first book in this series that matches the sin in itself. Kudos for that!
Reviewing this book from a standalone kind of view, I would give it 4 stars. I liked the writing, the plot, the intensity of it all.
But this book is part of a series and I can’t rate it more than this because, although we needed Sebastian’s background story, the whole book was retelling the past books and left us with an end that doesn’t make any sense. I have even more questions now than I had in the other books!
This is not a romance at all. In the previous books, we got some romance from the main characters, but in this one, there’s none… but there’s a lot of violence, stalking, betrayal, madness even.
I want to believe that the next books will have some clarity about the secret society, that after all, in my opinion, should be the main point of everything!
I have no idea what just happened… because nothing exciting actually occurred, except this character becoming so unhinged and deranged, he succumbed to unexpected self-destructive ways. Sebastian Westbrook embodied his given sin—despite having a handsome appearance, a charming persona and unlimited riches, he is envious, consumed by an obsession to possess something everyone appears to have: a romantic relationship.
“Once upon a time, an angel fell in love with a devil—it ended in chaos.”
Envy doesn’t feature romance though; only a toxic, unashamed fascination with Sabella Gunner, an innocent woman caught within the unrelenting pursuit of an imbalanced psychopath. I couldn’t find myself able to connect, or at least appreciate, this unique character’s disposition because there’s no redeemable qualities waiting to be discovered, or a hidden complexity ready to astound readers. Rather, he is callous, cruelly malicious and apathetic when engaged with anyone. For someone apparently starved of affection, he isn’t hesitant to deny himself the possibilities.
It isn’t the lacking character development, or the standstill Elite Seven story-line that stopped me from enjoying this though. It’s the constant repetitive scenes, the ones with no development whatsoever, that create an unexciting and uninteresting beginning. However, Sebastian’s unique perspective on situations made this redundant feature somewhat more bearable.
Mind blown. I can’t even put into words what reading this book does to my thinking. This whole series so far has been mind blowing but this one knocked it out of the park. M.N is one amazing writer and this book shows that off. This one is a dark tale that will definitely take you on a ride. The elite will be changed after this book.Sebastian was never given love or affection. He sets his eyes on Sabella. But Sabella is to sweet to avoid him. She wants to help him. But will she be able to or will it only harm her in the end. This one let me wondering what the heck did I just read. Sebastian is quite the character but he is a dark twisted part of the Elite. The ending blows you away. I can’t freaking wait until I read the next one. I have to know what happens to everyone.
Sebastian, Sebastian, Sebastian
With each book i think these are some really messed up people but Sebastian, dude you are whacked! And that’s what i Loved about the book. He is totally messed up. This series just keeps getting better and better and I can’t wait to see where all this goes.

This is a very dark twisted little book!! I love the darkness of a great twisted story . This is the fourth in the series and the idea of a secret society that gives people the ultimate power is so intriguing. This book is the darkest of the series so far!! This is Sebastian’s story and his sin is Envy, and Envy he does. I wasn’t expecting this tale that unfolded. So good!! This series is deliciously addictive!!
I absolutely devoured this, while it did rehash a lot of the previous story line, it was told from the very sick and twisted side of Envy! This series just took a dramatic turn and I eagerly await Greed
Welp. That was f*cked up.
Seriously. Sebastian Westbrook is one severely disturbed individual that you DO NOT want to underestimate.
Sebastian was the embodiment of his sin – Envy. He has everything that money can buy, except for the one thing money can’t buy… to be loved. He’s been deprived of affection since his parents died when he was little and as an adult he’s starved for it. He envies everyone who has what he doesn’t, but when he sets his sights on Wrath’s sister Sabella, he thinks that she could be the one who could fulfill what he desires most. But what happens when his feelings aren’t reciprocated?
“He’s super sweet, but I get this Ted Bundy feeling around him, you know?” – Yep… that’s the statement of the year describing Sebastian.
I’m a huge fan of M.N. Forgy and her MC books, but I totally didn’t expect for her to completely throw me into the land of “What The Fuck” with Envy. I didn’t pin this kind of stalker obsessive personality on Sebastian in the previous books, but I honestly loved how twisted and mentally unhinged he was. I would’ve expected his character to come from the minds of K. Webster and Ker Dukey, but M.N. Forgy? Definitely surprised me there, but she did a bang up job with him.
There is absolutely NO romance in Envy. This book mainly revolves around Sebastian’s character and less about The Elite Seven and the tasks assigned to them by the she-devil Lillian. Even without all that, it sure did make this series a lot more interesting and I’m dying to see how all of the intertwining plots unfold, especially with how this book ended ’cause shit is getting crazy.
The Elite Seven series has been unpredictable, suspenseful and downright addicting so far. Each book reveals a new unexpected twist that keeps me on the edge of my seat and craving the next story.
My mind can’t get wrapped around the fact that this series is getting deeper, darker, triple intense and so freaking awesome and addicting with each new book. And we are halfway through. I can’t even imagine what the other three books will hold for me and my sanity. Because THE ELITE SEVEN don’t just play with your thirst for impeccable darkness, but most of all it plays with your sanity.
This time the honors go to Sebastian. The guy who was one part of the cause WRATH did such a number on my heart. I don’t really know what should I say about Sebastian. He tangled me up so tight that my mind is blank right now. Completely no idea what to say about what I read. The vibes he was ousing out were seriously causing my hair all over my body to stand still even after the end. But I can’t deny that I freaking loooooooooved his vibes and his delicious darkness. As for Forgy, I bow down to her. In just a relatively few chapters, she created an explosion of a story and a character with enough darkness to last for days.
I surely cant freaking wait for the next Elite Seven masterpiece.
~His loneliness is bone deep~
—>>> This book is really interconnected with Wrath’s story, and all events are recounted but now all from Envy (Sebastian’s) POV. We get a more solid sense of his obsessions, his narcissistic tendencies, his bone-deep loneliness and wishing for someone to love him for himself, a significant other to spend time with. He has no remorse, and goes from one possibility to another when it comes to women fulfilling his needs. Unfortunately, he sees Wrath’s twin sister Sabella as his ideal woman, because she is not like the others he has been with and was a challenge for him. We get a little more information, and more significant characters are introduced and come into play.
Envy by MN Forgy is true to its name. It is dark, ruthless and would make you not envy Sebastian at all.
This book is unforgiving. It digs into your skin and unsettles you. Yet, you cannot stop reading it. It intrigues you, and it scares you, yet your eyes are glued to the page. It’s an unforgettable story, and is true to its name.
Sebastian is a peculiar character. He’s unpredictable, and you don’t ever know what is going to happen. This book was a literal rollercoaster, and seeing how Sebastian work is rather scary. He’s charming, but a little uninhibited and unemotional with what he does. He wears two faces, and that’s what makes him truly scary.
Dark is an understatement to describe this book. It’s beyond darkness. I just could not take my eyes away from this story, but I have to admit it did make me uncomfortable at points.
Also, What a cliffhanger!!
Envy is a book that will shock you at your very core, will scare you with its story and with Sebastian, but will make you read to the very end to see what will happen. If you can handle it, read it, and you’ll thank me later.
While Sebastian matched all the way with his sin, I felt the story was lacking. It seems to be a “previously on” kind of book. There was a lot of recap on what happened in the previous books. There was a lot of potential there but the story was very rushed. I only hope the rest of the series lives up to previous books.
I’m really loving this series and the writing was good but I just felt like if you took the whole Elite out then it would be something you would see on lifetime.
I loved how the book got really good at the end and can’t wait too see what happens in the next book!
Sebastian (Envy) is in love with Sabella and thinks that if he spends time with her that she will love him.
Sebastian isn’t right in the head and wants to belong and will do anything to get ahead.
Something’s are cleared up in this book and something’s are left to make you antsy to read the next book to find out what happens! Bring on the next book!
One race to get the girl, the one who would of changed everything, but fate intervened and all was lost.
The world his playground to play in until his uncle decided he needed to be worthy of his surname.
Now he’s been sent to the prestigious St. Augustine to carve a path, and find the elite secret society!
Another amazing step closer to the core of the society where lies and betrayal cloaked in riches and promises resides.
This is the turn of the computer wizard who both amazes and scares those both near and far from him.
As a character he is mesmerising! From calm to thunderous in the blink of an eye the leash straining as he loses control.
He’s dangerous, he’s unscrupulous, his heart full of rage and darkness.
I couldn’t get enough of him and the thunderstorm that was never far away.
The beauty who catches his eye, is his true opposite. Sweet, innocent, light and pure.
Theres a severe lack of light within this book and I devoured it, satisfying my craving for his true sins.
The drama, the twists and turns kept me on the edge of my seat hungry for answers.
I need more of this series, and I need it NOW!!!
