Who knew that the seven deadly sins started out like ordinary beings until they were genetically modified to be so much more. As we enter this new world we learn that just because someone wanted you to be a certain way, doesn’t mean you have to conform to there ideals. Envy is trudging through life, feeling like he is spiraling toward his own ending. He isn’t as close to his siblings as he wants to be, and it seems like the city is twisting in the winds of destruction. Evan doesn’t believe he has anything to live for. Then he meets a little boy who wants him to become the hero that the town needs. Taco knows that Evan (Envy) needs medical attention immediately and he happens to know the best doctor in the city, Grace Go.
Grace Go is a dedicated doctor who lives with the deaths of her parents on her mind every day. As she valiantly tries to find the answers to their death and the deaths of all the other people who perished that day, she realizes that someone is working behind the scenes to ensure the truth never comes out. When Grace meets Evan she enters a world that is so much bigger than she ever thought it could be. She learns secrets that someone is willing to kill to keep.
As Evan and Grace race the clock to find answers to betrayal and envy, we find out just what a man called Envy is willing to do for the people that he loves.
Amazing series by a very talented Aussie author. Character depth, description and the feeling you’re living in the book is second to none. Easy one click and binge worthy series.
In Envy we meet Evan, one of the Deadly Seven, a family of genetically modified human protectors of Cardinal City who can each sense one of the seven deadly sins. Evan blames himself for failing his family and his city 2 years ago, leaving Cardinal City without their protectors.
Dr. Grace Go lost her parents in the bombing that the Deadly Seven were accused of causing. However Grace knows the truth, she saw the person who was responsible.
Evan and Grace’s worlds collide as they both search for the truth of what happened in the past and discover if they can have a future together.
This book had such a unique story line that I was drawn right into. Evan struggles to both find his path again and redeem himself in both his own eyes and his family’s. This is a wonderful fated mate story and I love this book and the whole series.
This is the first book I read in the series and it hooked me. It has everything I love in a romance story. I held my attention and I couldn’t wait to see how things would work out. I love the whole idea that when they meet their one person they develop the power. Awesome book!
This is my second book by Lana and I am really getting addicted to hot writing. It pulls you all the way in and holds you tight the entire ride. This is a great series. Looking forward to more books on this series.
This is the best paranormal / fantasy romance I have read this year, the book is amazingly written, full of suspense, steamy romance and a storyline that rocks! I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this book when I got it and now I am so glad I read and and will definitely be reading the rest of the series. If you love paranormal / fantasy romance don’t miss out on this book and if it’s not your thing, still don’t miss out on this book!
Evan Lazarus can sense deadly levels of envy. When he and his family are blamed for a mass tragedy, it tears the Deadly Seven apart. After being injured Evan is taken to the hospital where he meets the one woman he didn’t think existed, his true mate.
After reading the prequel, Sinner, I was very interested in seeing how the children would deal with their abilities and live in the real world. Evan, who can sense envy, was an arrogant artist who has lost confidence in himself. He no longer feels that he has anyone to rely on and is starting to become overwhelmed by envy. While I liked Evan for the most part, he felt very childish at points, which was irritating. I really liked Grace. She was a kind, generous soul. She is good for Evan, and for the rest of the Lazarus’s. While I did have a few issues with Evan, I still enjoyed this relationship.
The concept of this world and the Deadly Seven is fascinating. I love the superhero vibe, especially since it’s not a bright and flashy superhero but a darker superhero. Pecherczyk has created a very unique world with seven unique and fascinating characters. I will be reading the next one because I really want to know what is happening with Syndicate.
Hell. Yes!!! Finally, a superhero romance I can sink my teeth into! Envy combines a some of the best known superhero tropes with a fully-fleshed romance and a highly original concept. Lazarus is smoking hot and Grace is a strong willed heroine I totally wish I resembled. If you haven’t started this series already–do! You won’t regret it.
No excuse me while I go find more book magic to enjoy.
Evan has taken a couple of knocks to his ego and especially his body, but hitting rock bottom can make a man come to his senses like nothing else. Meeting his fabled mate and unlocking potential powers is a pipe dream, but when he meets Dr. Grace Go…maybe there’s more to that story than his family realizes. Grace is the perfect balance to his envy and everything he didn’t realize he needed, much less wanted.
Grace’s world fell apart two years ago when she lost her family. She was given a second chance at life, and has grabbed on with both hands, understanding what a precious gift it is. She’s happy with what she’s got, except for one thing. To find the person responsible for the attack that took her parents from her. Not for vengeance, but justice for the families struggling to hold on to their now.
Evan was a charmer and Grace a practical thinker. She had the patience and do good attitude of a near saint, but she’s passionate and intelligent and those glimpses of her letting loose humanized her more than anything else could. Evan wore his thoughts and feelings on his sleeve and was much easier to get a bead on. Beneath his charming exterior was an artistic soul with a keen eye for detail and a protective streak a mile wide. I would have said they wouldn’t mesh, but they worked pretty well together. Grace had a mind of her own and Evan did everything possible to keep her safe and happy…all without sacrificing too much common sense:) I did feel Evan and Grace’s developing relationship was almost too perfect, but again, for the first book in the series, it helped explain what the rest of the gang will struggle with. And just imagining the fireworks for some of them…haha haha!
The prequel to the Deadly Seven series, Sinner, did a great job setting up the backstory for The Lazarus family. Envy kicks things off a couple of decades later with the kids all grown up and struggling to find their place in the world. There was a lot of information-future character plots being laid (he’s the youngest of 7, so future books are always a plus!) then there’s the scene setting, and of course, the baddies have to be introduced and their villainous intent hopefully announced- basically, all the stuff a first book in the series would give you! The details were pretty well thought out and now I’m super curious about Evan’s siblings! Especially Wrath. Talk about having an emotional blow, not once, but twice! Ugh, poor guy.
This was a great read. I enjoyed the unique storyline and the charismatic characters. This book had just the right amount of suspense. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
I couldn’t put this book down. Envy gave me everything I enjoy in a book and so much more. When Grace met Evan (Envy), I was right there with her feeling what she was feeling, just as if I lived within the pages. Envy moves at a smooth pace with the right amount of suspense and no wasted words. Envy’s interactions with the other characters, especially his family, are intense. He is the perfect blend of tough and soft, in a way that makes you want to be with him and help him through it all. I finished Envy and I had to read it again. Can’t wait for the next installment. It’s like your favorite TV series and I’m waiting for the next season and wondering which brother is next. I hope it’s Wrath after what he’s been through, but I think Wrath will be last, so maybe it will be Greed or Pride.

Title: Envy

**RECEIVED ARC FOR HONEST REVIEW**
First gotta say love the cover. It is very Assassin’s Creed. Second, this may have become my favorite series from this author. So far the books have been pretty fast paced even while fleshing out the storyline and characters.
Quickly: genetically engineered siblings that embody one of the seven deadly sins. They were going to be used as weapons so an assassin and a tech nerd who loved her saved the kids and raised them to be heroes. But, everyone has free will. And there are a few other tidbits that you learn reading the books.
What I really loved about this book? Doctor Grace Go. My last name is Goh. Lol. Just different backgrounds. Both Asian my my husband’s family is Chinese.
The book does lag at times which makes it tedious. Mainly it felt like the author couldn’t transition. It is understandable since you have multiple plot twists. But Grace and her whole passivist thing was annoying. Plus she never really explained she wasn’t looking at Evan with disgust.
I will love reading about each character as they develop and grow.
TWO THUMBS UP
