No one likes a rebellious captive.I learned that the hard way. I’ve been abducted from earth and cruelly tormented for my fighting spirit until I learned that the only thing that would keep me safe is to be sweet and calm and agreeable. It’s what keeps me alive. When I’m rescued by space pirates, they tell me I’m safe. I’m told I can be myself again, get as angry as I want, laugh and cry and … laugh and cry and scream all I need. I don’t believe them, of course. I certainly don’t believe Alyvos, the ‘muscle’ of the pirate ship. Everyone says that he likes nothing more than a good fight, but to me, he’s kind and protective. How can I fear someone who holds me tenderly through the night and has fuzzy skin?
But my pirate wants more from me than I’m ready to give. He wants my fiery spirit…and I’m not sure it’s there anymore.

Okay Iris made me want to cry and hug the crap out of her at all times. She suffered so much and completely deserved someone that would pamper her and treat her the way she should be treated. Alyvos (hope I spelled that correctly) was so sweet and understanding and I was so glad that such a serious subject was touched but still the book was romantic and sexy as you would expect from Ruby.
Another great story about these Blue Space Pirates, they do know how to have fun and claim a mate, well done.
Iris is a very damaged person (physically and emotionally) when she is rescued by the crew of the Lovesick Fool. Alyvos tries to help and accomodate her, but he is very impatient. Although their courtship actually occurs a lot more quickly than the one in the prior volume (time-wise), it seems to take just as long (reading-wise).
Omg, this one broke my heart!
Iris has been through so much. She’s broken, but so is Alyvos and together they help each other heal.
Loved it!
Fun fact – this is the 12th book I’ve read this year by Ruby Dixon. Insert shocked face here. But is it really that shocking? I think everyone knows by now that I am addicted to her brilliant storytelling. I have actually given up on trying to hide that I am a huge fan of hers. #noshame
The Lovesick Fool has taken in another human! Alyvos, and the rest of the crew, were trying to overtake another ship for their loot when he stumbles across his mate – Iris. She was being held in a tiny crate in the cargo bay after being left in eternal darkness. Alyvos knew he couldn’t leave her there, so he scooped her up and brought her aboard. It seems like these blue aliens are suckers for damsels in distress. He’s determined to bring back her fiery spirit that lays right underneath the surface. He’ll wait for it for as long as it takes.
To keep myself from gushing about RD, I will cut to the chase. This book was just as great as the other two – maybe even a little better. You can always count on Ruby to deliver a wonderfully sweet paranormal romance. If my memory serves me right, there is still one or two crew members that haven’t found their HEA so expect more of these in the future!
4 STARS!

I listened to the audible version of the story and the narrators did a wonderful job. This book gives us Alyvos and Iris story and it’s a great short and steamy paranormal read. Iris has been held captive and her captors have mutilated her body in all kinds of ways. She can sense kindness in Alyvos and his crew. Kindness she has not been shown and even though she does not trust easily there’s just something about him that puts her at ease. Alyvos is always looking for a fight and he’s determined to make Iris show any type of reaction. However, when he has a choice to make when it comes to getting revenge or chosing Iris his choice will determine their future. He has to let go of his habit if he wants Iris. This author does not disappoint and I look forward to more of her stories.
I really like this story a lot. The story is entertaining and has a lot of feels. The characters were interesting and relatable. I think I would have been more like Alyvos than Iris when it came to the bad Lord dude.
Iris was abducted from Earth by aliens. She soon found out that being rebellious had consequences that she wasn’t prepared for and unfortunately she learned that the hard way. Iris’s captors want her to be obedient and calm and after what they do to her, she is.
Iris is rescued by pirates, but she doesn’t believe them completely. She’s afraid that it’s a test by her captors especially when her rescuers tell her she can be herself now and doesn’t have to be calm all the time. Iris does feel a connection to Alyvos who is the ‘muscle’ of the pirate ship. He likes a good fight, but with her, he’s kind and protective. Alyvos wants Iris to show him her emotions, but can she allow herself to be the woman she used to be?
Parts of this story were very hard for me, but I still enjoyed it. I liked how supportive everyone was of each other. Alyvos was so sweet with Iris, even when he was frustrated. I loved their happy ever after and I recommend reading this book. Or listening to it because that was really good too!
This is Book 3 of Ruby Dixon’s Corsairs series, and about time because I was going into a Ruby Dixon withdrawal.
I was wondering how they would be pairing off Alyvos the Muscle. But opposites do attract, and Alyvos needed someone who required more of his muscle to protect rather than his need to beat something to a pulp to deal with his own PTSD. And finally, we’re getting into some realism that was needed at this point in this series. This is a cruel universe and no one gets away unscathed.
Iris is the jolt of realism required, and sometimes the knight doesn’t make it in time to save the princess. Nor does he get the chance to truly avenge wrongs done to her. I think that’s what really made this book worth reading.
My only question is: for a four-person starship, can it possibly hold eight?
I guess I’ll find out in Deceiving the Corsair.
Was this book worth reading? YES! I only wish it was a little longer, but I am not able to say where to flesh it out because it was as fleshed out as it possibly could be without looking like the writer was reaching.
This a must-read book! A heartbreaking story of survival and redemption, love, and moving on. I read it today and there were parts that just spoke to me. In Enticed by the Corsair by Ruby Dixon, it’s the third book in a series and the grittiest so far. I’m not trying to give the story away, but dang, it’s a thing I want to share with everyone. Dixon wrote a character, Alyvos, who was just trampled by life but seemed to have his shit together. He was angry and solitary, but still functioning. He rescues a human woman who had been completely broken and abused, half-starved to death and the only living thing left on the ship, as they, the bad aliens, had tortured and killed all of the other slaves on board. He saw her as a survivor and tries to help her recuperate, helping her to find a sense of normal. Iris had been tortured by aliens who had taken her for the slave trade, physically maimed her, and gauged out her eyes, and cauterized the holes because she was feisty and fought her abductors. At one point, she said she wanted to heal as Alyvos had from his trauma, and he said, “Oh, I’m not fixed. I’m as broken as ever. But you get better at hiding it. And you get better at being broken.”….”I am an angry broken thing inside.” ……. and then I thought…. this author sees my soul and is in my head….and so I had to stop reading it for a while to let that sink in. I couldn’t wait too long, because I had to know what was going to happen to them, and when I did, wow…. mind blown. Go ahead, this one is so worth buying and reading twice….at least.
