A book of four novellas by talented mystery/suspense/thriller writers is a book I couldn’t pass up. I was already a fan of three of the authors (Abramson, Poulson, and Black) and now I’m a Gregg Luke fan.
BRIDGE OF TRUST by Traci Hunter Abramson–a mother trying to get her son back from the boy’s criminal father, her ex-husband. While Summer heals from injuries sustained while trying to keep her older son from being kidnapped, FBI agent Ethan Flanagan tracks down leads on the missing boy.
As usual Traci Abramson kept me awake reading so I could see how this exciting story ends.
CORRUPTED by Clair Poulson–a mother’s daughter is missing and she has to convince the police that the girl’s been kidnapped, not runaway from home. Police Lieutenant Jay Tanstall is asked to investigate some of his fellow officers and discovers some might not be on the straight and narrow.
This story was interested because the readers know the truth of what’s happening but not who’s behind it until almost the end.
INSIDIOUS by Gregg Luke–Andrew is a pole vaulter headed to the Olympics until his body suddenly betrays him and he ends up in the hospital clinging to life. Nothing the doctors do really helps and they can’t figure out the cause.
This story was scary especially when you find out what the diagnosis is and the cause. I loved that Andrew’s wife, Taryn is a pharmacist and didn’t let the main doctor treating her husband talk down to her. She knew her stuff and stood up to him.
SOMETHING BEAUTIFUL FOR SOMETHING EVIL by Stephanie Black–Kate and Colby are newlywed’s and live in a small town. Kate is an artist and takes a part-time job at The Treasure Chest, a store in town.
I kept wondering when Kate was going to figure out that things weren’t adding up. I thought I knew who the bad guy was but not the motive. It was really twisted. Another great suspense/thriller from Stephanie Black.
I really liked all of these stories. They grabbed me in and wouldn’t let go until I had finished them. I like novels over novellas but with a novella you can read it in an afternoon when you got some spare time or the kids are napping. I also loved the cover and how ingenious it is with the authors names going down while the title goes across.
WOW! I loved this book. Each story is full of danger, heart-pounding suspense, evil bad buys, and strong, capable good guys! I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. I really liked the novella length for each story. This efficiently moved the plot along quickly. I never felt lacking in details or character depth. These are talented authors that really know how to pull in the reader, no matter the length of story. If you asked my favorite, that would be really hard. All were wonderful. Each unique and genuinely great stories. Each moved fast, which I liked
Reading Entangled was a fantastic and thrilling read. Each novella was different and unique but full of action and suspense that kept me reading. I loved that each story was long enough to be a full story but short enough to read when I didn’t have a lot of time. Bridge of Trust by Abramson pulled me into the fast and furious world of the FBI and drug bosses. It is a must read. Corrupted by Poulson made me rethink everything I thought about safety and kept me on my toes about who would live and who would die. Insidious by Luke was one big mystery and since I don’t want to spoil it, just go read it! Something Beautiful for Something Evil was a complete whodunnit, it kept me trying to sleuth until the end. If you love action/suspense, thrills and mystery, then you will love this collection of novellas, Entangled!
