Enshrine was a good book It is a standalone by Chelle Bliss. It hit home for me on a personal level, it did make me cry and got me thinking. The book dealt with a very hard subject for many people to talk to whether you are the one to get sick or if you are a loved one of the sick person. The book had its ups and downs you feel when going through something so traumatic. Book has some heated sexy scenes as well. I really enjoyed this book and would recommend people to read it. Chelle hit a home run writing this book.
Emotional read for me…..
This is a book that I could not finish in one day. Had to take a couple days to finish it because is hit so hard to home for me.
The emotion in this book between Bruno and Callie is explosive. I cried through out the beginning of this book as my dad died from Leukemia 3 yrs ago.
Bruno is Callie’s rock through it all and Callie is the light that Bruno needs in his life because of what he does for a living. The two of them fit together like a puzzle.
Like Chelle said in the book “I think that without the struggles in life, we wouldn’t savor the beautiful things. Nothing would be as sweet if it weren’t for the bad.”
Another book that was hit out of the park.
Great story. Just not steamy enough for me.
Chelle Bliss you wrecked me again! I don’t think a star rating is worthy of this book. This needs tissues and hearts and hugs.
Have you ever wondered why a book sits on your shelf for so long? When is the right time to read certain books? I had Enshrined sitting on my shelf for a while, with all the hot cover glory to see. I knew by other reviews this book would but me. I don’t know why but reading this after I had my medical scare and surgery was definitely the right time.
The story between Callie and Bruno is one full of heat, love, and caring. Callie gets devastating medical news. Bruno, not knowing her so well steps in to help her fight and gives her a reason to fight. Callie’s story is written so well. The tests, treatments, emotions. Going through the stages of grief. I can’t gush enough about all the emotions you will feel being in Callie’s head. You will love the support of Callie’s friend and Bruno’s family.
While my medical news wasn’t as devastating as Callie’s I couldn’t picture a better time for me to pick up this book.
Poignant, steamy, and sweet
I loved this story! Bruno will steal your heart and Callie will break your heart and they will put your heart back together. I expected this book to destroy me but instead it invigorated me!
This story will break your heart from the beginning so have extra Kleenex handy because you will need it. Callie is waiting on a life changing phone call. What she doesn’t realize is who she will need when the call comes in. Bruno is a mystery to everyone, so that is why everyone calls him “the Butcher”. Will Callie learn the truth? This story will break your heart but Chelle Bliss will put it back together by the end. I loved this story and I hope you take the time to read it and you will love it too.
What an emotional ride this was. My mom lost her battle to breast cancer a year ago and this book was both cathartic and entertaining. thank you
Favorite Quotes:
“I want to see what is underneath. Being with a man for the first time is like unwrapping a Christmas present. I want to know what my gift is, and I hope it isn’t like opening a box of socks.”
“I have no family. Who will visit my grave or attend my funeral? I’d leave nothing behind. Just a fabulous shoe collection my friends would ravage before my body was even cold, let alone six feet under.”
“Time is the most precious thing we have. We blindly go through our days as if they’re in infinite supply. Each year, time moves faster, evaporating before our eyes, and we don’t even realize it. The only time we pay attention to time is when we’re told ours is running out.”
My Review:
Chelle Bliss had my lower lip trembling, my cold heart beating at hard rhythms at various times – and for vastly different reasons – and my eyes periodically experienced a strange and unfamiliar wet and burning sensation as I read her latest work of art. Aptly titled Enshrine, the feels in this book were sneaky. Enshrine is a moving and emotive read, and in my opinion, Chelle Bliss at her best. One chapter had me snorting and smirking then ended with a sob-fest for the sweetest of reasons.
The story flows smoothly and the writing is pure Bliss with clever humor, delectable steamy goodness, intriguing secrets, insightful observations, and emotional intensity. The main character, Callie, finds herself in the midst of an ironic struggle. Callie’s inner battle was to be as hard-fought as her physical complications while she endeavored to overcome her pesky personal issues to eclipse vanity, stubbornness, and paralyzing fear. I found the canny Chapter Titles to be nothing short of ingenious as she followed the formal stages of grief. More irony, she finds safety and solace in the most unlikely of places. I enjoy irony as much as I adore Chelle Bliss, and I loves me some Chelle Bliss!
I liked this book kept me curious all the way to the end
A Must Read!!! Chelle knocked this one out of the park.
This book is packed full of emotions make sure to have a tissue box with you. I had a few crying sessions in this book. This book is a roller coaster of emotions in a good way. Chelle knows how to pull you into her books and get wrapped into it.
This is a beautiful story and shows how world collide when the unthinkable happens to you. You find strength and guidance in the unknown when the dark shows in the story of Callie and Bruno. These two f hope if you learn to trust in each other. I absolutely love Bruno and Cal’s story. It goes to show you the true meaning of love and shows us how we sometimes take for granted of the true things that matter in life and what are the material things are in life.
“Things are just that—things. They don’t make us who we are. They make us look better on the outside, even when we’re hollow on the inside.
They’re an illusion—the shiny objects that distract us from the really important things.”
This book shows you that people are placed in our lives at the time we need them the most. When the describe Bruno you get this image of him as being a bad A** that removes everything in his way. You want to be like Becca Cal’s BFF and tell her to steer clear of him. This changes as you see when he place himself into her life and making it where she can not remove him from it. They are each others saviors in this emotional book.
“darkness makes the light more profound, and the words ring true.”
Absolutely love Chelle Bliss!!!
I’m a huge fan of Ms. Bliss.
I’ve read many of her books and loved each one.
But Enshrine is one of my favorites by this amazing author.
I loved everything about this beautiful book!
From the cover,to the title ,to every single word written on every page!
Wow what a beautifully written story about fighting your way through the darkest of time. About finding your ray of sunshine through the bleakest of tomes.
Callie is a 32yr old microbiologist. Her parents have passed and she only has one close friend. Her biggest worries were what shoes to wear from her very vast collection on what designer clothing hanging in her closet.
One phone call changes her world entirely.
Bruno “The Butcher” is the local bad boy. He’s gorgeous with a ripped body. He has a reputation for being a ladies man and a bigger reputation as a man you don’t mess with.
Circumstances bring Callie and Bruno together.
Both are attractive to one another. But Callie is going through a life altering change and refuses to let Bruno help her. Her mother had drilled into her head to never count on anyone. Bruno however is determined not to be pushed away.
They both find solace and comfort in one another each for different reasons. Yes there is a physical attraction between them but it’s so much more than that.
Enshrine actually has two different stories going on. One is Callie’s struggles and the possibility of her life being cut short. The other is the mystery that surrounds Bruno. His life, his work and his future. However both stories intertwine superbly!
This is an exceptional book filled so much emotions.
But through all the turmoil and uncertainty and the tears the book always had that ray of light and hope throughout this truly beautiful heartwarming book!
5 Lustrous Stars!!!!
I’m not even sure where to begin with this review. I’m totally gutted after reading the greatness that is enclosed behind the stunning cover of this newest Chelle Bliss book. I had all the feels imaginable as I turned each page. There’s humor, Bruno and his family, sometimes cracked me up. I mean who’s mother tells their son to get his ass in a car and get the “f**k” up to the family home? We’ve got brothers and sisters that have a closeness that I loved seeing and their interactions are just like I would picture a close family having. It’s clear to me, this family is a family I’d love to be part of!
“I f**kin’ hate teenage girls. They’re the worst type of human beings on the planet. It’s easier to reason with a stick of butter than a hormonal female teen.”
Our heroine is Callie and she’s a beautiful, smart, engaging young woman that doesn’t have family around her with the exception of her best friend Becca and until very recently, Callie was a girl who was tied up in what shoes to put with her latest purse. All of that changes with a phone call. And I’m NOT going to tell you what that phone call is, because it will totally ruin the story for you!
“None of it matters. I am no longer in the rat race on a quest to buy the next amazing thing.”
Bruno has had his eye on Callie for quite a while now, but she “says” she’s not interested because Bruno has quite the reputation. Here’s the thing though, we don’t know too much about Bruno though as he’s kept that part of himself close to the vest so to speak. Bruno is called The Butcher. But what is really behind that name? Is it evil and nefarious?
While Callie won’t admit she finds Bruno attractive, Becca takes things into her own hands to bring Bruno and Callie together because things have changed dramatically in Callie’s life and Becca thinks this will make Callie happy. Talk about some sizzling heat. When these two get together, they’re smoking hot!!
“‘It’s in my hand, Cal. I just wanted to feel your warmth before I caged the beast.’ I bite my lip and hold in my laughter. The beast. It’s the perfect nickname for him – and his dick too.”
The chemistry these two have just lights up the pages. The way Bruno treats Callie brought me to tears a few times. It’s more than apparent to me, he truly loves her and I think Callie wants to love him too, but there are some huge obstacles for them to get through.
“If it weren’t for him, I don’t know if I would’ve made it through the first few weeks without going mad.”
“I thought I prepared myself for it. I know what it’s like….He swallows hard and takes a deep breath. ‘But watching you makes my chest hurt.’ He places his hand over his heart and clutches his shirt.”
I can’t really say too much more, because I’m not one to give spoilers in a book and I feel like if I go on, I’ll let something slip and I don’t want to ruin this beautifully written book for you. I’ll leave you with these thoughts…Who is Bruno really? What happens to Callie that ultimately brings these two together creating a bond Callie isn’t sure she understands? Can they have a life together? Will Bruno stand by Callie through thick and thin? Can they have their HEA?
I will also tell you, this is by far, in my opinion the best book Chelle has written to date. Please pick this up, be ready for the tears, but also be ready for the laughs too, especially when we find out what Bruno’s nickname is!!!
I absolutely loved this book by the amazing Chelle Bliss, This is a standalone book, and it had me gripped from the start to the finish. im so glad that it has the happy ending for Callie and Bruno.
I’ve read every Chelle Bliss book written, I’ve loved them all, I’ve connected with a few of them but never like I did with Enshrine.
Callie wasn’t my favorite character in the beginning, she was a bit high maintenance which doesn’t work for me, but a phone call changed everything.
She’s strong, I loved that, there’s nothing worse than a weak, whiny heroine. She has ties to Bruno but she doesn’t know it yet. Loved that little surprise!!
Bruno isn’t quite what he seems, the thing you think he is he isn’t but when you find out what he really is you’ll love him even more.
He’s got a fierce protective streak and Callie in his sights, she doesn’t understand at first, she was warned off him, that he’s a bad man, no good for her. Luckily she didn’t listen or she’d have missed out on something truly amazing.
Callie and Bruno’s relationship starts during a horrific time in Callie’s life. A time most people wouldn’t make the decision to get involved with someone, but they did and it was probably the best thing that could have happened to Callie.
Enshrine is heartbreaking and exhilarating, with moments that will take your breath away. I promise you will fall in love with these characters, their story is absolutely amazing, I do believe I have a new book boyfriend, and he’s a close second to my favorite of Bliss’ men!
Magnificent! Awe-Inspiring! So different..so amazing! My heart is filled with admiration over Callie’s fight and Bruno’s strength in this beautiful emotional touching love story.
I loved it! Anyone dealing with that diagnosis should be so lucky to have a Bruno in their life!! The story is gritty, heartfelt yet still sexy…it’s definitely something you should be reading!
Beautifully written book by Chelle Bliss. She’s an amazing author & this book is no exception!! I highly recommend this book along with all of her other books!!
I really liked this book about Callie and Bruno. Although it touched on a very serious topic of cancer, it was very well written. I felt tears come to my eyes as Callie went through not only hearing the news that she has cancer but also the treatments and her interactions with Bruno. The characters were very well written. Callie goes from a materialistic person to realizing that time and quality of life are more important than anything as well as going from a self-reliant person to learning how to lean on others for help. Bruno’s character was a sweet guy which differs from the rumored persona going around. He has experience in dealing with cancer because of his sister and knows the tragedy of losing a loved one. Between the two of them, their relationship endures a lot of emotional stress. I figured out Bruno’s true profession during the story but was really glad with the twist provided by this author. I truly enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more of this author’s books.
This is a really hard read. Very emotional. But well written and worth it.
I did like “the Butcher” but I had a problem with the main woman. I was a constant roll coaster where she wanted him, she didn’t want him, she wanted him, she didn’t know. Got very frustrating to read. Thank goodness he was like a boulder and not going anywhere.
