“Fear is no reason to forgo happiness.” Words to live by, but are easier said than done. Emma has been through a lot and has to overcome it. She thinks she doesn’t need another hero in her life, but Brett wants to be the one to change that. Brett and Emma are kindred spirits in my opinion. Samantha brings all the feels in this sweet and spicy conclusion to The Men on Fire series.
This book was phenomenal. Brett and Emma hit it off from the start, even though they didn’t meet under the best circumstances. They have a lot in common, like both being single parents, and they both lost parents on 9/11. I love Brett’s understanding of Emma’s reluctance to put her daughter in a position similar to her own. Emma fought her attraction, even tried “safer” dates, but couldn’t get past Brett. This book was romantic and emotional, and gave Brett and Emma the HEA they both deserve.
5 humongous
Wow!!!!…… what a way to finish the Men on Fire Series. This sure is Samantha at her best.
We have met Brett Cash over the last few books, all becoming intrigued with what his story is and will be…..and now we find out.
“Things happen for a reason”
Brett – He’s known loss, and is coming off the back of a broken marriage. Leo is the best thing that came out of his marriage. Now Brett is about to face an incident that will impact on his life, like nothing else.
Emma – She’s suffer a great loss, which has made sure all her life options remain safe, bar one -Eveyln! but she will never regret that. Until one day she can’t control what will change the rest of her life.
Evie – The smartest badass twelve year old there is.
Loved this story from start to finish, we get all the feels, love, anger, trepidation, angst, humour and heartbreak.
Brett: “It’s the most intense conversation I’ve ever had, yet no words are spoken”
I shed tears of sadness and happiness throughout. I wouldn’t expect anything less from a Samantha Christy novel
Ahhhh! My heart!!! I loved Emma and Brett’s book! Single dad (swoon!) AND a single mom?!? Double score! And a smoking hot fireman that saves Emma?? HERO! But these two don’t have an easy time of it. Emma has issues from her past she has to work through…and Brett’s ex is back in the picture. I loved everything about this book…loved the journey everyone had to take to get to their HEA. HIGHLY recommend this!!
Oh this story! Loved it from beginning to end! Brett and Emma’s story has absolutely everything that makes a great romance…..drama, angst, heartbreak, action, suspense, so much sizzle and steam, wonderful characters, and a hot hero that just makes you swoon! An amazing series and story! Samantha Christy never disappoints!
Wonderful!
This is the third book in the wonderful Men on Fire series. This is such a wonderful series that can be stand-alone. I read this book first and then had to go and start with the first book. It is such an emotional series but so worth the read.
This was an excellent book, it has been a long time since a book has made me cry. Excellent read, thank you!!
4.5 stars fora sizzling romance with a thoughtful dose of realism woven into the fabric. What a way to conclude a wonderfully written trilogy.
I fell in love with Lt. Brett Cash in Igniting Ivy and Sparking Sara. In fact, I was waiting with bated breath to get my hands on his story. I had no idea where it would lead, but I knew my heart would follow him anywhere.
He. did. not. disappoint…..AT. ALL.
Lt. Cash was honestly everything that I felt a devoted first responder should be. He was confident, skilled, poised, intelligent, and his easy demeanor and sense of humor made him feel like you knew him for years. He was the type of man that could always be counted on and it was so obvious how personally fulfilled he was by serving as a fire fighter. Fire ran through his veins.
When we meet Emma Lockhart she is undoubtedly experiencing one of the worst days of her life. With her life and the life of another hanging in the balance, Lt. Cash comes to her aid and the two make a deep connection. Both are single-parents, both love their jobs immensely, both have lost a parent on 9/11, and both are kind people who care about others. They do however have one big difference…Lt. Cash has an open heart and is yearning to find long lasting love with the right woman however she may come into his life, while Emma repeatedly ignores the call of her heart if she does not like the specifics of a man’s lifestyle…namely, his occupation. For Emma, there could be almost nothing worse than falling head over heels for a firefighter, so….she does her best to keep her emotional distance, despite the pull her body feels towards Lt. Cash. The magnetism between Emma and Brett was palpable, and if you thought any and all firemen were hot…..wait til you meet the dirty talking Lt. Cash!!
Whole. New. Level.
Holy cow Samantha….CAN WE TALK ABOUT THAT SCENE ON THE PLANE?!
There were parts of my body sweating that I didn’t even know I had!!! Holy mutha……
Let’s just say….this book was definitely a 10/10 for heat factor.
The story dealt with the heavy subject matter of 9/11, but in a way that felt respectful and not overly depressing. Emma deals with her emotional baggage, and in doing so makes some errors in judgment that some may hold against her. She was fighting demons and doing what she genuinely thought was best. She was not a bad person by any means. She was loved by friends and students, and she was a wonderfully supportive mother and a caring daughter. However, she had deeply rooted unresolved issues to deal with before her HEA was hers to claim. I loved how Brett, Evie & Enid all supported her but were not afraid to call her on her crap behavior. Evie was a purely delightful 12 year old, and a daughter that any mother would be proud of! The relationship between she and Brett brought tears to my eyes.
This was an amazing yet slightly bumpy journey towards the HEA we all hoped would come, making this another memorable read from Samantha Christy and the perfect ending to a beloved trilogy. As with any good book, there is plenty of material to debate over and analyze for those looking for a solid book club romance. I highly recommend that you give this one a GO and prepare to hand your hearts over to the dreamy Lt. Brett Cash and his adorable little sidekick Leo. You won’t regret it.
This really starts off with a bang… Very intense and exciting, with chemistry between the protagonists that is undeniable and palpable. I laughed and I also cried near the end. It did, however, start to annoy me a bit that Emma continued dragging her feet for so long regarding her true feelings toward Brett, allowing her fears of the past to keep her from living life. At this point I started thinking this was slipping into a three-star read, but the last several chapters more than made up for the brief slide. With an ending that is sure to make you both a little sad and then very happy, along with a really sweet and satisfying epilogue, this standalone definitely earned 4 stars IMO.
Another good read in this series. Sexy firefighter Brett tries to help Emma after a terrifying incident. Their connection is electric and their journey is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Narration by Teddy Hamilton and Erin Mallon is on fire!!!
Engulfing Emma is a fantastic contemporary romance. This is my first book by Samantha Christy, but won’t be my last. Brett is a single dad and firefighter. Emma is a single mom and teacher. As she’s leaving the school on one of her final days I guy with a gun force her and others back into the school. Brett and Emma’s story is loaded with drama, angst, humor, spice, action and suspense. The one thing I didn’t care for in this book is that it’s written in first person, alternating point of view, my least favorite format. Engulfing Emma is book 3 of the Men on Fire Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
Emma and Brett made a lovely couple. Brett was an all round really nice person. Always helping others. Emma was stuck in her past and sometimes annoying. Except of course in her interactions with her daughter and mom.
This book is emotional, and sweet and all the things a good romance book should be. I really enjoyed it!
Emma was a bit of a weak character – couldn’t make her mine up but loving the sex. The firefighter character was pretty stable.
This was my favorite of the Men on Fire series.
