She promised she would bring the baronet to his knees, never dreaming she would lose her heart in the process.
Millicent Wedgwood will never obtain her rightful place in Society, which means she will never have an advantageous reputation, marriage, or future. All because Millie’s sister eloped years before. But there is a chance to rise above that disgrace. If she can win the trust of the … that disgrace. If she can win the trust of the baronet who insulted Lady Olivia, and then betray him, she will earn back her position in Society with Lady Olivia’s sponsorship.
Sir Isaac Fox returned from war with one less arm and a weight upon his soul. Where once he easily charmed Society, he now prefers to remain quietly alone at home. With a small estate to manage, Isaac is determined to be more responsible for those in his care and less foolhardy, which leaves no time for romance. Certainly no time for the infuriatingly enchanting Miss Wedgwood.
When Millie realizes her game has put her own heart in jeopardy, she risks losing everything she has so desperately sought to replace in her life. And though Isaac refuses Millie’s advances, he cannot deny her charm. But falling for Miss Wedgwood would mean reentering society and losing the peace he has found since the war. Can they find a way to heal their hearts together? Or will Millie’s deception ruin them both?

Nice story.
Really love this author.
I loved how both Millie and Isaac grow from the influence of each other. Great banter and sweet romance. Perfect for this series.
This suspenseful and very appealing writing style absorbed me from the first few lines. It has an engaging hero and a complex appealing heroine. I look forward to reading “Reforming Lord Neil”, whom I liked as a secondary character in Engaging Sir Issac.
Millicent’s sister Emmeline eloped years ago. That brought disgrace to the family. An acquaintance, Lady Olivia, offers to help Millicent “Millie” regain a place in society. Olivia wants Millie to help her betray three men, however. One of those is Sir Isaac, who returned from war with one less arm and a weight upon his soul. He runs a small estate and has no time for romance. Millie sets out to win his trust. She realizes her game has put her head in jeopardy, and she risks losing everything she sought. – Millie is honest, smart and caring. She is exactly what Isaac needs. It is fun to read about Millie and Isaac dancing around each other. This is an interesting historical romance with a host of characters.
Engaging Sir Isaac by Sally Britton is a Regency Romance and a part of the Inglewood Series. I enjoyed the historical details that flesh out the times and setting making the story believable. The protagonists are well drawn, and in this story there is much character growth. Conflict between being accepted by society and feeling responsible for family honor is a main point. Teaming this with blackmail, intrigue, trust issues and of course romance makes an enjoyable read.
Loved the story, but hated seeing Isaac hit his breaking point before finally asking for help.
Of course, his friends don’t even blink before stepping in to help.
I wanted to give this book a 4.5, but since that is not possible, I gave it full stars. I liked how Sally addressed sensitive issues in a bold yet loving way.
Even though I have all of the books in the Inglewood series on my Kindle, after reading Engaging Sir Isaac in one evening, I had to purchase all of the paperbacks for my home library. I love this entire series so much!
I so enjoyed this story! I have loved each book of Sally Britton’s that I have read and I tend to read all of them. Without a doubt I know I will enjoy whatever Ms Britton writes. This book is no exception. Sir Isaac and Millie made for a wonderful romantic read. I did not want to stop until I reached the end. Even then I wanted more. I can never get enough of these clean romances from this author. Highly and passionately recommended.
I loved the complexities and vulnerabilities of the characters! I would buy this book and series, and I’m usually a library person.
A sweet clean regency romance! I adore this series and all of the characters!
An excellent tale of finding love when least expected! Millie and Isaac are prefect together and I could not get enough of them. Millie is a step away from being ruined and her mother secures a way to fix this while elevating the family back into Society’s good graces. Millie is ready and prepared to do whatever it takes to help her family but is not prepared to lose her own heart in the process. Nevertheless, Isaac captures her heart and finds his own walls crumbling in the process. Together, they find a way to help each other against all odds. A delightfully clean, regency romance.
I received a complimentary copy from the author. All opinions expressed are my own and freely given.
I loved this book. so fun to see Sir Isaac get his happy ever after. Millie is so great for him. I loved how the characters didn’t hide their feelings and were up front, so refreshing.
Engaging Sir Isaac was delightful read/listen. It has one of the funniest meet-cutes I’ve read, and it set off the adventure this story was going to be on the right foot. I loved getting to know Sir Isaac Fox as well as Miss ‘Millie’ Wedgwood, knowing that the first was the last remaining single/bachelor from the club, and the second had hidden motives to befriend him. The story had some twists that while kind of expected, didn’t happen at the time I thought they were going to happen, and only added to the enjoyment of this book.
I loved the main characters, but especially the fact that the author did a pretty good job with Isaac’s character: a wounded hero with both physical and emotional scars and losses, as well as some deeper issues, such as nightmares and social anxiety. Having this kind of flawed hero made the story that much more relatable, and definitely made me root for him the most. As for the heroine, I certainly liked watching her grow throughout the story, but also how well-suited she was for Isaac. Of course, one of my favorite moments with Sir Isaac was seeing him be the doting uncle to his nephew, and, as his sister said, knowing that he’d be a wonderful father one day. As for the romance, it was swoon-worthy, and those kisses were just perfect.
As always, the narrator was fantastic! She brought every character to life and made me feel all the emotions they were going through. Seriously, I don’t think there’s a better pair than Sally Britton and Marian Hussey.
Completely recommended! ~ 5 stars
PS: I think this book is essential to understand how Lord Neil will change from being a villain in book 1 to being someone’s hero in his own book, #5 in the Inglewood series.
Each book in this series is getting better and better – I imagine that is because you get more layered background about all the characters. This one was wonderful, and after meeting Isaac earlier in the series, I had really hoped he would get someone wonderful. As with the other books in this series, narration is spot on. Cannot wait for the next book!
This may be my new favorite of the books written by Sally. I loved the characters even the villains. I thought the author did a great job touching on how Sir Isaac dealt with the loss of an arm and his PTSD without having it completely take over the book. This book had plenty of romance and action that kept me interested the whole time. I can’t wait to hear about Lord Neil. Great book- I would recommend it.

Millicent (Millie) Wedgwood knows she must follow the rules of society so she doesn’t ruin her reputation like her sister did in marrying someone beneath her which left the family being ostracized by society. In possession of a large dowry, Millie must find a way back to being accepted in order to make a good marriage.
Lady Olivia is aware of Millie’s setback and says she will help her regain acceptance again but she must complete a task for her. She must humiliate a man who embarrassed her. Therefore, Millie becomes Olivia’s companion and resides with her in the family’s countryside estate.
Sir Issac Fox’s sister is married to the Earl of Inglewood. Issac fought in the war and lost an arm. Now, he is back home and learning to live with his disability. His estate is next to the family of Lady Olivia. When he sees Millie riding on his land, he questions her. As he is dressed as a laborer, she is aloof to him. When they meet again at a soiree which includes his family, she is embarrassed to see that he is a member of the gentry. Having been insulted by her, he is rude back to her. Now, she is trying to mend fences with him. Although she is attracted to him, she knows that she must not become too close to him as she has been tasked by Olivia to humiliate him.
As they continue their friendship, Millie is heartbroken because she knows she must rebuff and humiliate Issac. But love can conquer all, can’t it?
An unusual plot here and one that I had to question as to the type of “power” that Olivia possessed. Her part as the perfect villain is certainly well written. I am a fan of Sally Britton and have enjoyed a number of her books and look forward to more in the future. I love a good, clean romance.

• The pacing of the story was neither too slow nor too fast.
• There was a smooth, coherent flow to this book.
• This story had a very satisfying ending.
• The narrator did an excellent job in differentiating the various characters’ voices. She did an amazing job and brought the story to life.
• This was a clean story.
I was given a free audiobook by the author. My review was voluntary and my opinions were my own. I will be listening to or reading more books by this author. I will also keep a lookout for more books narrated by Marian Hussey.
I have been waiting for Sir Isaac’s story ever since I met him through Esther’s story.
I was hooked by the first chapter. Millie’s predicament caught my sympathies and her mother’s ludicrous solution only made me more concerned for her. As the story progresses, and she meets Sir Isaac, she is caught between her mother’s expectations and her conscience.
I admit to being anxious and wondering about the fallout for both Sir Isaac and Millie. Gratefully, for them and me! It all works out to a sweetly satisfying end.
And suddenly, I can’t wait for Lord Neil’s story. I suspect he isn’t quite the villain we thought he was.
