Jake Brandt, a young gunslinger and former bounty hunter, travels to Jenkins Bend seeking his fortune, or at least his next job. Little does he know that the sleepy little town will soon be a firestorm and he will be caught right in the middle. With Indians lurking around and thirsty for blood, he knows that he needs to stop them from attacking the village. Is his fearlessness enough to help him … him in this risky mission?
Jake’s life becomes more exciting when he meets Emily, daughter of one of the wealthiest ranchers in the area, and he is instantly attracted to her. Even though he longs to get to know her better, his priority now is to trace the Indians, find out their plan and protect Jenkins Bend. His mission becomes even harder when a greedy shadowy figure’s betrayal will change the course of events. Are Brandt and the townsmen truly prepared for the approaching threat?
With a traitor among them and with time running fast, the stakes become too high. Will they manage to defend Jenkins Bend and triumph over the enemy before it’s too late?

Three and a half stars. There were some really good things and some not so great in this book.
The good? Mostly original story compared to most of my reading list. Kinda sweet in the romance department.
The not so good? I had a difficult time keeping track of all the different characters until way past the halfway point. I also just couldn’t visualize the scenery and locations in the story. Way too many typos to go unmentioned.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author and was under no obligation to leave a favorable review. All opinions are my own.
What an Awesome trip to the old West! Enemy on the Edge of Town is like watching speeding locomotives heading straight towards one another and the meeting point is Jenkins Bend! It’s a action-packed wild ride full of twist and turns, Indians, gun runners, bounty hunters and the Calvary that will keep you sitting on the edge of your seat! With a magnificent cast of characters and an incredibly strong plot that brings this read together perfectly. But, with every good story there must be a villain, and Austin Grayson created several dastardly villains. The scenes are so strikingly detailed it paints an incredible backdrop that makes you feel like you are one with the story. With Burning Wolf a Comanche and his band of Comancheros heading to Jenkins Bend to burn down the town and kill everyone, Colonel Fletcher and his two dozen troops from Fort Meade trying to the find and stop the Indians, and Sheriff Benton of Jenkins Bend with his deputies Brandt and Donovan race against time to try and save the town. Added to the suspense Grayson Cole a backstabbing bad guy is out to stir up some more trouble! What happens is a heart pounding story with shootouts, traitors, drama, adventure, and a budding sweet romance with Brandt and Emily. This is one Outstanding read that you won’t want to miss!!
Jake Brandt, Stack Donovan and Emily Jackson all work to rid the town of Jenkins Bend of those that want to pillage and burn down the town. Local ranches, nearby settlements and small towns have felt the wrath of gunmen and Indian attacks. The Indian tribes want their land back and the gunmen get paid by an inside spy to make war on the communities. The local Sheriff has his hands full with gunslingers, bounty hunters and gamblers which have come to Jenkins Bend. This book is filled with action; the guns are blazing; and, within the story, love is found.
This is an exciting book that can be enjoyed by any and all historical western lovers. There were too many errors for five stars.
