Wow!!! This was such an emotional read with wonderful characters and intense attraction! It was a story of making amends, resilience and finding a love you never expected.
Dusty had her whole world ripped out from under her just as she was starting a new life. And the only one left to pick up the pieces, is the one person she hoped to never see again.
Stone was her childhood best friend who completely abandoned her. Now he’s back in her life and he’s determined to stay there.
The characters had great depth. Stone and Dusty were both stubborn, which lead to some epic showdowns. They were friends who became enemies and then tragedy brought them back together. Now it’s their second chance to make up for the past and build a new future together.
I enjoyed the main characters, as well as the secondary ones. This was a well rounded story with a great deal of loss and heartache. I definitely felt Dusty’s pain, but I cheered for her as she fought her way through it. She was strong and resilient. She truly was a fighter. Stone was right there holding her up when she couldn’t stand on her own and encouraging her to keep going and to go after what she wanted when she needed that extra push. It was also about letting other people in your heart and creating your circle of people who have your back. Stone was Dusty’s rock and her safe place. She was his everything. Their heat was undeniable and these two sizzled right off the page. Their connection grew with each obstacle they faced and eventually friendship and lust became forever love. I enjoyed this heart wrenching love story.
This book was life! So good from start to finish. And that ending..! Yeah, my heart just overflowed right out my chest!
Dusty and Stone really make you wish they existed outside the pages of a book. Well, except all that happened to Dusty. She experienced more tragedy than any normal person should. Thank the heavens above Stone was the man he was. Every girl could use a Stone in her life.
That HEA was everything! That epilogue-after-the-epilogue will have you laughing out loud and melting into a puddle of mush with all the heartwarming feelings that come right alongside the words printed on each page. Another well written story from Tijan! So worth the pain and journey. Mm, the feels!
I knew this was going to be a good book because Tijan wrote it but I wasn’t ready for the emotions roller coaster this book put me through. Tijan’s writing really makes me feel like I am a part of the book so Dusty and Stone were my friends. Everything Dusty went through at a young age was so unfair, then with the miscommunication with Stone and Dusty I can understand why they started ths book of as enemies. But of coarse the truth always comes out and destiny always prevails! If you are looking for a great emotion filled read, then I would Definetly dive into this book, you will not be disappointed!
Dusty had always been friends with Stone but that all changed in the sixth grade. Everything changed it was like she didn’t exist to him anymore; she lost her mother, and everything changed.
Ready to start her new life, new collage away from everything, he’s still there and meeting him again wasn’t what she thought it would be like, or the news he would bring. The chemistry was there so they decided not to fight it while still hating each other.
Dusty decided she couldn’t do it anymore; her heart wouldn’t handle it she was already falling in love with him and wouldn’t survive when it ended, making sure that what she told Stone would make him hate her. Dusty’s roommates are the mean girls till they learn why Stone had come to see her.
When Stone finds out what happened to Dusty in her past he knows he’s given her enough time to think and be alone, she’s going to be he’s and he doesn’t care who knows it, but does she feel the same way .
Enemies is the latest sports romance by Tijan. You can already tell from the title that it has an enemies-to-lovers trope, mixed with childhood best friends , second chance, hot, famous, and swoon-worthy NFL footballer , college parties… It’s not as angsty as some of her previous books, but it’s a beautiful journey of mental healing, dealing with the loss of loved ones, and overcoming grief.
Dusty and Stone were neighbors and childhood best friends, until he started distancing himself from her, then his father fired hers, and with some dirty play, it triggered the downfall of her family. Meanwhile, Stone had no idea what had happened between their families and moved on to become one of the best players in the league. After having to deal with a traumatic event, Dusty decided to start afresh in a new place, following her dream to study marine biology at one of the best programs in the country, where nobody knew her, except Stone!
Unexpected tragedy came again, and that really knocked Dusty hard! Being in a new environment, mistreated by her housemates, added to the trauma, the grief, the panic attacks, the mental and physical pain… Everything just seemed to be too much for her to handle. But Stone had always been there for her! I loved how protective and patient he was, the way he genuinely cared for her and became her rock during her crises. Did I mention he was swoon-worthy ? It’s also eye-opening to understand the ways people deal with trauma, and Dusty’s journey to recovery was so well portrayed. Along this process, she’s found great support and loyal friendship with her housemates, and found love with Stone. I was cheering hard for them , and their HEA was well deserved .
Tijan has once again brought us another emotional and wonderful story with beautifully transformed characters, even the secondary characters were so likable . It broke my heart how much grief and loss Dusty had to go through, but at the same time, it warmed my heart to witness the care, patience, and love Stone devoted to her. It’s a 5- read for me!
In a Word… fanbloomintastic!!!!!!!!!
I wanna gush it out loud and squeal it from the rooftops!!!
I knew right from the start that this book was going to slay me, and yet again Tijan would up the bar on sports romance!
Dusty’s life had went from bad to worse, losing her mother, her father losing his job, struggling to pay medical bills, a boyfriend from hell, shes been so busy struggling from day to day, that she really hasn’t had time to get to grips with all that’s happened, it’s less painful sweeping it under the carpet.. right?
Now she’s finally getting to college, and the one person she hates the most, The Golden boy, star Quarterback, egotistical jerk, the son of the family she blames and hates the most is right there in her face! The childhood friend that she thought would always have been there…
Stone Reeves, confrontational, and shows his disdain openly, but Dusty’s biggest problem is that out of all the people its him, him she hates the most yet he’s the one making her confront her issues and hold her up!
Stone definitely doesn’t take it easy on Dusty and this story is raw and gritty. OH my heart and emotions were failing me !! One minute i was in tears and the next laughing!! But mostly I felt everything for Dusty, her grief and her turmoil, her pride, her strength, and her vulnerability. Even at the times of Dusty’s lowest and my ugly sobbing i felt this girls anguish and stuggles to keep breathing, keep walking, keep it together! At the same time, Stone always strong, yet when the truths start to appear, his emotional battle with even himself was heart stopping. Man i fell hard !!! He made me laugh, he made me cry and yes i also wanted to slap him at times !! But yes he’s irresistible, Dusty nor I stood a chance!!
This story as raw and open And it just melted me. Tijan brings us characters we love even at their most broken and gives us their story in ways that ruins us, yet lifts us up, because even the most broken can be healed !

It’s getting harder and harder to pick a favorite book by Tijan. She has outdone herself with the emotional rollercoaster enemies to lovers story. Absolutely brilliant writing. She pulls no stops in, Enemies, which is perfectly named for this story. We are taken on a ride that I had no idea was coming and enjoyed every minute of it. The turmoil, hate, friendships, family, college life and so much more. This one packs and a punch and delivers all the feels.
Just reading the synopsis should have you hooked, I didn’t read it till after I read the story and holy smokes, this story is everything and so much more.
Football God vs. Invisible girl
National Championship vs. the day mom died
NFL #1 Pick vs. worst decision ever made
The list can go on and on. This is a must-read. Heartstrings will be pulled in all the directions so be prepared.
What I love about TIjan’s writing style is that each story is delivered in such a way that it can’t be explained. Powerful undercurrents of emotions in different ways and this story just brings that to life.
5 Forgiveness Stars
Tijan has done it again, she has completely slayed this enemies to lover’s romance. This book is seriously Unputdownable! You are immediately drawn into this story from the first line of the first page and you will be completely enraptured until the last. The angst level in this story is at an all-time high, I got anxiety from the opening page, but it’s Oh So Worth It….
**The hole inside me was there. His words, my words, had punched a fucking fist through it and I felt as if the roof was caving in.**
Dusty is this amazingly strong women who’s dealt with more things than anyone person should. My heart literally shattered for her on multiple occasions. I just wanted to reach into this story and give her a hug and let her know that it was going to be okay. But even though she goes through so much, she is still so strong. She is a warrior and I loved everything about her. The banter between her and Stone is off the charts, their chemistry could be felt through the Kindle. I loved watching the evolution of them as they come to terms with their past and try to navigate what’s happening between them now.
**“What do you want?” He was almost shaking me from the force of his own need. Savage.**
Holy Alpha Hotness Batman!! Stone is my new favorite Alpha he’s tied with Mason which I never thought would happen. He’s all growly and possessive. He’s literally growly, he growls all the time and that makes me tingle. This man from the start just bulldozes in and takes control. He doesn’t put up with Dusty and her attempts at pushing him away. He’s 100% all Alpha all the time and I could not get enough. This man makes you feel all the things in all the places.
**A sensual look moved into his gaze, but there was more. A predatory look, too. And I so felt like his prey, but I stayed. I waited.**
I love Tijan I have been obsessed with her books since her Fallen Crest Series. And time and time again she comes back and shows me why I’m obsessed with her. This story is phenomenal it checks all the boxes and will have you going through Every. Single. One of your emotions. Tijan is a master at her craft and she absolutely nailed this angsty college romance. Dusty and Stone are one of my new favorites of hers and I know this will be a story that I will read again and again.
Really loved this book. Dusty had so much to overcome and she found that Stone was the only one that could help her. She fought her feelings for him but in the end they were too strong to resist. Highly recommend!!!
Wow I couldn’t put this book down. This story was so complex and riveting, it was full of characters that were always growing and becoming more. This is one book that should not be missed. I highly recommend this author and book.
Devastating; one word that encapsulates this remarkable book and will bring its reader utter heartbreak. Heartbreak for the insurmountable loss that’s put on the shoulders of one of the most incredibly strong and brave characters I have ever had the pleasure of reading.
Sure, Dusty Phillips wasn’t perfect, but her story was one that was so gritty and raw that all I could do was feel for her and wonder to myself just how much more she could take.
Just when it seemed that our heroine would not be able to withstand another moment of her unspeakable circumstances, comes an unexpected ally in Stone Reeves. Not only one of the most devastating male leads I have ever read to date, but one who’s actions will bring its readers to their knees.
No words can truly express my admiration for Enemies. Just when I think I have found my favorite Tijan novel she blows my decision out of the water with another epic novel. The story she penned will rip out your heart while managing to put it back together by its conclusion. If you are looking for just one novel to read this year I urge you to make it Enemies.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
This one is a great read. I was hooked from beginning to end. I started reading in the afternoon and I got completely sucked in that the next thing I know it was after 7 and the kids were asking for supper. I loved Dusty and Stone. Dusty hasn’t had an easy time and she’s staring over. For the first couple of days are rocky then things get worse when Stone knows she’s in town. Stone and Dusty were best friends at one point now they hate each other. Stone is a big time football player. He has had a good life. He and Dusty don’t get along well but things get really bad he’s there for her. At times they are like oil and vinegar and at each other’s throats but at other times they get along perfectly. These two just needed to talk and hash things out. It’s a great story. I would suggest when picking this one up that you set aside time to read so that you aren’t interrupted. This one is a must read.
The best book that this author has ever written!! wow just wow!! this story fits so well with tittle! its insane, I cried, laughed and swooned over this characters because they were perfection, Stone is not going to be your typical hero, but boy is he swoony and perfect! Dust you my darling girl, I just want to hug you so much! you were the perfect heroine and your story, as hard as it was to read, it was simply beautiful!
This is a book with lots of feels. Dusty is a quiet introvert that moves to Texas to start college at a new university and change her major to make her dreams come true when she leaves abruptly from her pervious school. Stone Reeves is the star player on the Kings’ football team and everyone knows how Texas loves their football. Did I forget to mention that Stone grew up nextdoor to Dusty as kids and they were best friends….that is until they became Enemies and the hate grew. Now they are both in the same city and she cannot escape Stone Reeves when he’s everywhere she looks all over the city.
You definitely do not want to miss out on this book. All the feels and the drama alone is so worth your time and attention.
Kudos to Tijan for offering this refreshingly emotional read. Absolutely love the irony of the title and the subtly of the writing. Tijan hands over two powerful characters that will leave reader in pieces. Dusty and Stone are magic on the pages. They represent this imperfect, brazenly emotional irreparable bond. The storyline is demonstrative, destructive, and begs to be recognized. 5 stars.
The first time Stone appeared in front of Dusty’s door, I knew this was going to be a good read. It’s not your typical enemies-to-lovers sports romance. This book give me ALL THE FEELS!! OMG!
I’m a trainwreck after I finished reading this one!
I seriously don’t know what to say about this one other than its the Best! The characters were so real and you feel their feelings and emotions seeping through you! This book truly makes you feel good!
SLAYED! Tijan absolutely slayed me! Her original plot, amazing characters and over all beautiful words have absolutely stunned me and I’m forever slayed! With each book I fall more in love with her words!
Stone and Dusty were inseparable growing up but as it tends to do life got in the way! One heartache after another and Dusty wanted nothing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with Stone Reeves ever again! When fate rears it’s ugly head Dusty finds herself face to face with the one person she never wanted to see again! Only now he just might be all she has!
I loved LOVED LOVED, Dusty’s fierce attitude and how strong she was! She wasn’t bitchy she just did what needed to be done to get through her days! She was a quiet soul who was lonely and searching! What she found was a lost soul looking to be loved!
The heat factor of this story was off the charts and my goodness the line between hate and lust has never been thinner! Their hate fueled their attraction and made for some seriously delicious moments!
This amazing story brings a little bit of everything and is a definite Tijan fave!
4.5
Tijan is a master at pulling on your heart strings through her stories, and Enemies is no different.
This book had all of the things that are kryptonite to me.
Enemies to lovers
Grew up together
Hot football star
But Enemies delves so much deeper than all of that. Due to spoilers I won’t get into all of it, but damn. This Story isn’t just about enemies to lovers, its about heartache, family, friends, and the struggles and hardships of life in general.
Dusty does not have it easy. She has been through so much, it’s insane. It a lot for one person to handle, but just when she needs someone the most, Stone is there.
And the heartache! This book has everything you could want or need in an enemies to lovers romance. It hits you right in the feelings.
Stone Reeves is everything. I loved his character. He isn’t just your typical douchebag football player. Obviously, I seriously enjoyed how he was specifically with Dusty. And my gosh, Dusty. Her life is one big ball of fucked up. Girl can’t catch a break for nothing. And even though there are moments in everyones lives where you just need to fall apart, and Dusty is no different, she is resilient through it all.
I really loved how Tijan shows the sometimes ugly truth of being at your lowest that you’ve ever been, but showing that it’s okay to break every once in a while because it forges you and you come back stronger than you were before. Dusty is so strong to endure what she did and still come out of it on the other side, not unscathed, but stronger for it.
This book has everything you need. It will pull on your heart, it will make you sad, make you happy, it will have you glued to the pages until the very end.
I also really loved the banter back and forth between these two. The hate in the beginning that eventually morphs into more. And when it does, it will melt you heart and your panties.
You honestly can’t go wrong with any of Tijans books, but Enemies is everything you need right now, trust me.
Enemies is the latest standalone from Tijan, a sports romance with an enemies to lovers undertone that highlights her amazing storytelling skills.
I loved Stone. He was the perfect mix of salty & sweet, a character I wanted to hate from the beginning but couldn’t help to love. While I adored him, I didn’t really love Dusty. Unfortunately, she just got on my nerves a bit, and while I tried to sympathize & warm towards her I just couldn’t. And don’t get me started on her roommates! I think Tijan did an amazing job with how that part of the story was written, however, I wish it played out a bit differently.
This book brings all the drama, and at times can be a bit too much. But there are definitely plenty of toned-down moments, keeping it from being over the top. I liked that we not only got their present story but were also clued into the past and how they each got to where they are today.
Wow. I wasn’t expecting so much emotional sadness. Dusty has been through so much in her short life. I’m glad she had Stone, even if they did have a roller coaster relationship and their reunion wasn’t the best. This book did not disappoint.
