AHHHHHHHHH this book! THIS. Book!
Enemies by Tijan was everything I didn’t even know that I was looking for! It is (surprise surprise) an enemies to lovers, sports romance. Could you figure that out from the title and cover? LOL.
It was a sexy, passionate, emotional and bumpy ride that I didn’t want to put down. Seriously, I had to leave my kindle in another room so that I could actually get some work done and not be distracted by this addicting read! What are you doing to me Tijan? (PS can we let RVD know it is your fault I haven’t finished formatting her book? Just kidding… kind of…)
Dusty and Stone have a complicated history. They began as childhood BFFs but that friendship soon turned sour and the two only held hate for one another. Now Stone is the there to help pick up the pieces of a life falling down around Dusty. Will their hate turn into something more passionate?
I loved getting to see the feelings that existed between Dusty and Stone — whether it was anger, resentment, passion or love… they FELT it all. Watching them get through the barriers that kept them apart for all these years to rebuild trust was everything. I was rooting for them from the very beginning. I loved that they didn’t just go from enemies to everything is hunky dory but that there was a push-pull between them to the very end. And watching Dusty go from a solitary individual to slowly letting friends slip in and become a part of a tribe was so gratifying to see,
Enemies hit all of my sweet spots. It was steamy, had some hot football players, great friendships and it was unputdownable. This is a book that you NEED to add to your TBR — trust me you won’t regret it. It is a MUST READ!
Unable to put down! Enemies-to-lovers
“If he wasn’t all in, then he was all out, and I was going to…shove him all the way out.”
Tijan’s “Enemies” is a standalone, page-turning angsty, sports romance that will have you unable to put down! Stone Reeves and Dusty have a past; one that brings these childhood best friends turned enemies to lovers. And what happens once Dusty arrives in Texas, turns Stone cold.
I read this in a day because of all the intriguing aspects that come with the tragedy, trauma, and twists that Tijan is exceptional at emanating in her stories.
I look forward to additional novels by the author.
Tijan
No one does broken heroines like Tijan. And Stone was perfection…
Sports books make Tricia sooo Happy!!! lol
Then add in that its football, cover lust, enemies to lovers, full of angst and Tijan wrote it….
Wellll…..Then……. Lord have Mercy… Tricia is in full blown ecstasy…bahahaha
I definitely have been dying for this book to finally be released and of course I made time to read ASAP cuz I love LOVE that recipe above..haha
5, but deserves lots more stars from me!!! Make sure you add to your TBR and read ASAP!!!! : )
Overall Rating – .5
I’ve not read Tijan in a few years (I know, so bad!) and I can’t believe I’ve been missing out! Enemies was perfect! Engaging, unputdownable and I loved Dusty and Stone!
Dusty and Stone has been child best friends, until one day they weren’t. Stones family was vengeful towards Dusty and her family and they grew to hate each other.
Dusty is starting over at a new college and she’s knows that Stone stays in town. He’s a professional athlete and there’s no way they will cross paths and she is fine with this.
One day changes everything and my heart broke for her when everything was coming down around her. I could feel the emotions and even brought a tear to my eye for her.
The hate journey between Dusty and Stone was so obvious on her part but when Stone had to step up and care for her, you could sense the sizzling chemistry in the air between them.
Dusty. I loved her character. She was a survivor who was proud, hard working and strong. There were times when she was weak due to circumstances but was always able to show Stone she needed his help and I loved reading her.
Stone. Be prepared to swoon big time over this guy. His actions, his words, his general being has him all alpha and protective over her. I swooned so hard for him. He’s not a cliché NFL star, egotistic, manwhore, he’s loyal, only has eyes for her, which was refreshing to read.
This is a great enemies to lovers, sports romance story. The push and pull and angst between them kept me engaged and I couldn’t put the book down. The story flowed, always changing with good amounts of drama. I won’t be leaving it too long until my next Tijan read that’s for sure!

Stone is such an intense and amazing character!!! Dusty is the type of person that would hold a grudge, but she was dealing with alot and it was hard for her to cope. Such a amazing story from a amazing author!!
It is no secret that I am a huge Tijan fangirl. There are plenty of books by her that I love, but especially the Fallen Crest High series, I can read over and over again. The same now goes for this book. It rocked my world and I am sure I will be re-reading this one over and over again in the future as well.
Now, it has been established that I love Tijan’s writing style, but do you know what I am also a big fan of? Sport themed books!! So yeah, I really hit the jackpot with this one, because college, sports romance is like cupcakes with sprinkles to me!!
Dusty and Stone used to be best friends back in high school, but for some unknown reason, from one day to the next, she stopped existing for him.
While Stone kept rising and rising, becoming a well-known name into the football world, Dusty kept falling and falling, getting hit by one tragedy after another.
ow life is about to hit Dusty one more time and this time Stone is right there to keep her from falling. Question is, will she let him?
So much resentment and so much hate…how will they able to overcome all these feelings. What will happen when all the secrets come out??
I really loved Stone, he was pretty awesome, but I am gonna be honest here and say that I had a huge crush on Dusty.
She was exactly how I like my heroines to be. Strong, independent, a bit stubborn, and not willing to go down without a fight!!
I had a wonderful time reading this one. It had the perfect amount of snark, angst, humor, and love. Definitely a Top Read of 2019 for me!!
ARC kindly provided in exhange for an honest review
I absolutely loved this book. I believe there’s nothing Tijan can’t write that won’t reach out of the story and grab ahold of your heart and touch your soul.
This book was totally amazing if you like the kind of angsty, college small town, frenemy and the emotional rollercoaster they make you feel.
You definitely need to grab this book. It is definitely a must read.
OMG! WOW! This my friends is without a doubt the must-read-romance-book of the year!!! I have another sleepless night behind me, but damn, this book was worth more then that.
I was so full of adrenaline after reading it, that I couldn’t fall asleep later anyway .
Again, Tijan has written a book with so many emotions, grief and heartbreaking feelings that you could feel it deep in your bones.
I could feel the mourning and trauma of the main character so damn deep in my heart , that I was torn from the inside in tiny little pieces and maybe because I had experienced it myself, it hit the nerve even more and it just wrecked me.
This book wrecked me
This story is probably the most authentic written book about the process of emotions and feelings after loosing your loved ones.
It’s a heartbreaking story about a young women that fights to survive after the tragedies that have happened to her in her life.
But it’s also, a story that shows that with enough patience and love, the suffering and trauma can be bearable, that you can slowly heal, that you can life with this pain and the felling of guilt.
Gosh, I’m so in love with these characters it’s not even funny. They are in my heart and head and will probably stay there forever.
I love Dusty for her strength and stubbornness but also for her fight for survival and independence.
I love Stone for yeah being Stone and that he never gave up and fought for them, for the two of them in his own stubborn way
This book is definitely one of my top 5 reads of this year.
Recommendation?
READ THIS BOOK!!! Do it and I guarantee you, you will be grateful that you have trusted me.
Stone Reeves!!! Gah, this man! I’m in love.
And Dusty! Dealing with so much pain and hurt. I loved her just the same.
This book was so much more than what I bargained for. And I loved every second of it. Simple as that.
The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating. And then the emotions… Enemies is one of the most emotionaly charged stories I’ve ever read. Wow! What an absolute piece of magic.
This author plays to every emotion you have. She will twist and turn you until you are wrung out and begging.
And Stone! He just became my new book boyfriend.
This book held my heart between it’s pages. Wow, just wow! Brilliant!
This is a beautiful story about Dusty, college girl struggling to make everything work in her life. When pro football player, Stone comes into Dusty’s life again, her world changes. I enjoyed this engaging story and all the wonderful characters.
This was such a great, frustrating at times, read! I have not come across a Tijan book yet that I have not thoroughly enjoyed. She delivered yet again with all the emotions. I even felt some myself! I loved Stone and the way he cared for Dusty. I could definitely feel their connection. I understand how some reviews didn’t like Dusty’s back and forth self judgement. Give the girl a break, she went through some traumatic stuff in life. Seems like the girl couldn’t catch a break and at times I was able to feel her pain. Sometimes life’s struggles make you more reserved and it takes time to let those walls down again.
“THIS!” This is what a Friends-Enemies-Lovers should be.
The hero was a jerk but sweet and he was an asshole but not for no reason.
The heroine was strong enough to not be a doormat but Nice enough to not be a total bitch.
The development of this story was consuming. I couldn’t pull away. Why not a 5 star. The heroine did 1 too many back & forth for my liking.
This is my 1st by this author and It Won’t Be The Last…. *runs to look at the backlog*
Truly enemies to lovers romance…well she may hate him but he doesn’t seem to hate her.
Dusty is far from home transferring to a college in Texas with a new plan for herself. Stone is a hometown football hero who made it big playing Pro football in Texas. Dusty has had a rough go, she wants a fresh start but then she sees Stone. As much as she hates him she also remembers how good of friends they were until 6th grade. The two are thrown together due to some crazy circumstances and they are combustible. Amazing book
This was my first book by author and it won’t be my last!
This read had me staying up until 3am and than I was back at it the next day. This has to be one of the best Enemies to Lovers books I have read this year! I have been left with a book hangover! I can’t wait to see what Tijan does next!
Hmmm, It Hooked Me In The End! A 3.5 Star Read
Enemies
This didn’t ‘read’ like a Tijan book to me. It took me a while to like the characters & to get into the story. However, once I did I really grew to like Dusty’s quirks & understood them, I think I ‘got’ Stone from the start but the more layers were peeled back about their past, the more he made sense!!
It’s a very multi-layered & complex emotional read. I liked the epilogues Well worth reading in my opinion!!

This story is everything. I love Stone and Dusty’s story!
Two childhood best friends turn into enemies then become lovers. How do all of these dynamics work out? Read Enemies, only Tijan can write such a beautiful story.
Enemies is such an emotional trip. Tears will fall for joy, sorrow, anger and the mystery. The love these two have for each other is solid even though they think they are enemies. We always know who is there for us when tragedy strikes; only true friends.
Can Stone and Dusty move pass being enemies to being friends or even lovers?
This is one of those books I want to reread again and again. I’m a sucker for Sports Romance, but throw in some Enemies to Lovers and I am your girl. Enemies delivers both angst, a wonderful storyline, and all kinds of emotion. There were times I laughed, times I cried, and times I either shook my head, or just wanted to chuck my Kindle across the room. Tijan has the ability to make me enjoy all the words and want to read faster to get to the end, but slow down to just savor the story. 5 Amazing Stars!
Dusty hates Stone. Like, really, REALLY hates him. After an idyllic childhood full of friendship, Stone freezes Dusty out, and Dusty’s father is wronged by Stone’s dad. Now together in the same city for the first time in years, new truths will be revealed, and Dusty will have to come to terms with how she feels about Stone, and Stone will have to do the same.
Enemies defied my expectations in a lot of ways. I enjoyed the angst, but felt like the back-and-forth between the heroine and the hero got a little tired in some places. But this could be because I don’t really care for the “enemies-to-lovers” trope. However, I felt like this was a compelling iteration of said trope, with hints of a “second chance” romance added in as well. I think the unraveling of the heroine’s trauma was effective and done in a sensitive way, and I thought that the chemistry between Dusty and Stone was palpable. I’ll definitely be reading more books by Tijan after reading this.
Enemies ruined me. The relationship development, the sweetness, the angst. I couldn’t put it down.
This book is my favorite stand-alone of 2019. I honestly have no words, and that says a lot considering aim a chatterbox.
You NEED to read this- you won’t regret it, although you definitely will have a massive book hangover.
