Stone Reeves was my neighbor, and I’ve hated him since sixth grade.Gorgeous and charismatic, he became the town’s football god, while I became the town’s invisible girl.He went to a Division 1 school for football, while my father was fired by his father. His team won the National Championship, while my mother died the same day.He was a first round pick for the NFL …… while I made the worst … …
… while I made the worst decision of my life.
Now I’m in Texas trying to pick up the pieces of my life.
But, Stone is here.
Stone is everywhere.
It doesn’t matter that disaster has struck my life again.
It doesn’t matter that he’s the one trying to console me.
It doesn’t matter that he’s the nation’s newest football obsession.
Because for me, he always has been and always will be my enemy.

Oh my goodness, I don’t even know where to start….. but to say this book was a complete disaster and a huge disappointment. So many things were unrealistic and unauthentic that I was getting a headache with how many times I was rolling my eyes. It was confusing and annoying at the same time.
Firstly, the heroine is nasty…down right rude and stubborn with so much attitude it’s off putting. She has multiple dilemmas and tragic moments that it felt fake and just thrown in for added drama and angst. I could not connect with her at any point. Her temper tantrums would be admired by a two year old.
Secondly, I have a huge problem when an author goes down a road of something medical or sports related and they don’t do any research on the subject matter but make it up as they go. For those of us that do know the in and outs of these things, it is extremely frustrating when it’s incorrect.
Also, when someone is leaving a hospital after an induced coma, do you really think it endears us to read that the hero picks her up, has her upside down and throws her in the back seat of his truck…. ah no! The words he used to her around this time of the book, when he’s trying to show her he could be trusted and to go with him…. just down right despicable.
I tried, I really tried to connect with them, or have some sort of emotion other than will they just stop! So it pains me to say, I DNF this book, and that is rarity for me. I can normally find something good in every book I read. There had been a lot of hype and rave reviews over this book, but unfortunately it fell way way short of what I was expecting.
I like quite a bit of angst but there was too much going on in this book. Family drama spanning decades, a stalker, mean girl roommates, car crashes galore, coma, death, stepbrother problems, etc. It was too much for me to buy into.
Love this author! OMG……
If you love new adult romance, this one’s for you!
I savored every word of the story!! Dusty and Stone were such a wonderful couple and I couldn’t get enough of them!!! I swear Tijan’s college romances are my favorite!!!! Plus you’ll love Enemies!! I swear you can go wrong with this gem!!!
This book made no sense.
I was literally confused the entire time, I had no idea what was happening.
I felt no chemistry between them, maybe, in the beginning, they had a little pull between them but then, later on, I was just to busy trying to figure out what the hell is happening.
How did she fall in love with him? HOW THE HELL WERE THEY ENEMIES? And when Stone confessed his love to Dusty I was hardcore cringing
So basically Dusty hates Stone because he ignored her after 6th grade and then Stone’s father fired Dusty’s father when her mom was going through Chemo which led to her mom dying. So she hates the entire family. Until now; she is in College and in the same area as Stone, her stepmother for some reason is trying to rekindle Stone’s and Dusty’s friendship by blackmailing Stone’s mom into helping her out.
Are you confused yet? No? Let me continue
Then Stone comes into the picture to tell Dusty some devastating news.
Anyway after hearing the news she ends up in an accident when she wakes up she gets to know she was in a coma ( so the devastating news was Dusty’s father and step mom passed away) and that Stone apparently was not aware of what his parents had done, so in order to redeem their mistake he forced them to pay for Dusty’s college and her parents funeral. So to recover she moves in with Stone lol and out of nowhere, they fuck like she was in so much pain and she just wanted to forget so the only way she could think was to have sex with the guy she apparently hates so much. There was no other dick in the world except for Stone’s. Anywaaaaay after they have sex a few times she tells him that they need to stop because she might fall in love with him and he was literally like good thank you for stopping this now.
They go their separate ways and within a week are back and he says professes his love for her.
That’s the entire story. Not confusing enough for you? Then please go ahead and read the book.
Tijan does no wrong, once again! Dusty and Stone are something special–even when they’re mad at each other. LOVED IT
3 Stars
I know I’m in the minority here on my review of this one, but for the life of me I could not stand Dusty…at all. I always love Tijan’s writing style, and this one is no different, but I just could not connect with these characters. There were some aspects of the story that I liked and made me feel things, but the majority of the time I was thinking to myself “why is this relevant to the story”? Towards the end, I understood a little more why Stone started ignoring her when they were younger, but it took until almost the end of the book to get there. And even though I didn’t connect on this one, I will still auto read anything Tijan writes.

Worth the wait and the feels!!!
If you are a Tijanette, you feel the vibes of some of her other stories…I would even list them but I don’t want you thinking that if you’ve read them you will already know Enemies. You won’t, I said vibe not copycat!
Enemies is everything I’ve been waiting for. I was actually surprised the prologue (which I read a million years ago when Tijan first released it as a teaser!) wasn’t in the book. I say that because in my mind it was the beginning and yet…it’s not needed at all.
Enemies holds it’s own. I shouldn’t have been surprised by my reaction…(yes, I cried.) Tijan seems to find all my soft spots and twists the knife in. But it wasn’t just the feels, there’s an underlying intrinsic feeling of ownership with these two. All the hate, the emotions, and the history seems to bond/bind them with invisible strings that even they can’t untangle or even see.
Am I heartbroken?
Maybe, but i like to think of it as more of greedy. I’m greedy for more…More Dusty. More Stone. More Nacho, Dent, Noel, Wyatt, and of course the girls. I feel like I’ve been let into the circle of trust and bow it’s vanished since I turned the page and nothing was left.
Am I in love?
Abso-freaking-lutely. Not a question. Everyone who reads this book will come around. You will be on our team. Try and fight it. You know what they say about making up…
Or how about that saying about Enemies being the best lovers…
You can fight it. You can try to hold back. You can try but Rampage will get you eventually.
I love Tijan. I always can rely that any of her books will be great! Of course, this book didn’t disappoint. Stone and Dusty were perfect for each other. At first I was bummed because I needed to know all the details because I hate being left in the dark. I was wrong. I liked that all the pieces of the past came out at the right times. If I could change anything, only because I love drama, I would have used the stalker part earlier and had something happen with that. Just a preference but I really loved the book. I couldn’t put it down!
I wrote this review based on an advance reading copy that the publisher sent me.
Loved this book. They earned their happy ending.
Tijan!!!!!! This book is EVERYTHING!!!!!!! Hands down BEST BOOK OF 2019!!!!! My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE Tijan book EVER!!!!!!! Thank you sooo very much for writing this book!!!!!! You’re one of the most phenomenally talented authors I have ever read!!!!
Tijan announces she’s releasing a book and I don’t need any details I know I’ll want it and Enemies was no exception. God I loved this book. It is not your typical enemies-to-lovers story because in true Tijan fashion it was so much more.
Gah I just love Stone and Dusty.
I have many a book boyfriend that comes from Tijan’s bookshelf and Stone Reeves is now among them, even though I know I’ll be fighting my book friends over them *side-eyeing you Christina*
Trust me, you need this book in your life. *Fair warning* No adulting will get done until you are done binging this 5 star read.
