There’s no such thing as a casual romance in this unforgettable Accidental Billionaires novel by New York Times bestselling author J. S. Scott.
After finishing a hard-won medical residency, Owen Sinclair now lives his dream as a family physician. The windfall that brought him newfound wealth has also made handsome Dr. Sinclair the town’s most eligible bachelor. But Owen’s eyes are on Layla, his … eyes are on Layla, his onetime best friend, his clinic’s dedicated nurse practitioner, and the one woman in Citrus Beach who has no interest in either his body or his billions.
In high school, Owen and Layla were always there for each other. Layla could confess almost anything to him. But wanting more than friendship was a confession too far, and Layla’s teenage longing was crushed in a heartbeat.
Two buried hurts are now in need of mending, and Owen has a proposition—if Layla is game. It’s a matter of trust as they discover so much more about the past, each other, and themselves. It’s not too late. Maybe they can make up for lost time. A love this true is worth the wait.

First and most importantly…another swoon worthy Sinclair. Owen What an amazing, compassionate man he is. But holy mother let the alpha caveman out and it’s game on. My heart ached for Layla but she deserved Owen. They both needed to breathe after all they went through.
I love this family on both coasts. Thank you Jan for another memorable story.
“Endeared” is the last book in The Accidental Billionaires series and I have really enjoyed the Sinclair clan. Owen is the youngest and has finally made it through school and is now a Doctor. He goes back to his hometown to open a clinic, where one of his best friends from high school works. Layla is a nurse practitioner and used to be best friends with Owen and Andi, but now she wants nothing to do with him, except in a professional manner.
Things are about to get heated up in Citrus Beach, Owen wants to know what happened to make Layla so distant and Layla doesn’t want to talk about the past. Throw in the fact that when Owen left he was dirt poor and now he has more money than he knows what to do with. Ten years have passed and Owen feels like he has lost so much being away from his family, but it doesn’t take long to see that his family still has his back when needed.
Grab the tissues because Layla has secrets that will break your heart. Also get ready to laugh at Brutus, you can’t help but love him. Jaxton Montgomery makes an appearance in this book and I cannot wait to read more about him.
What an awesome read!!!
This book is part of an ongoing series. It’s connected to other series by this author. I would highly recommend reading these books in order. There is quite a bit of back story and detail that would be missed trying to read it as a stand alone.
Time for Owen Sinclair to shine! Owen has always felt a bit out of place among his siblings. He’s always been so focused on his goal of becoming a doctor that he never really stopped and took time building those relationships. Sure they’re family but sometimes he feels a bit like an outsider looking in.
After Owen starts spending his new wealth by purchasing a medical clinic he can’t help but be captivated by is nurse. It’s someone from his past, someone he knows he’s still at least partly in love with. Will he be able to soften her heart and find out whatever went wrong all those years ago? (If you know this series, you also know the answers to my questions.)
There are some things that happened in Layla’s past that may be hard to read for some people. J.S. Scott doesn’t go into great detail so I think most people will be just fine reading it. I received an advanced copy of this story from NetGalley and am posting a voluntary honest review.
Owen is back to Citrus Beach, after finishing his medical school.
The person he secretly loved , his best friend, during high school, works with him now and she hates him.
Layla was in love with Owen in high school, but he betrayed her and now she works with him.
Owen wants to know, why she hates him……he didn’t do anything to betray her.
I loved reading about Owen and Layla, loved both of them, their stories.
As always another wonderful book by J.S. Scott
It’s hard for me to NOT love a JS Scott book, and well, guess what, I LOVE this one as well. There is a real relationship, character development, angst, some humor, always an animal (in this one there is a gassy, but lovable bulldog) and always a happy ending.
I loved Owen Sinclair, the youngest of the Accidental Billionaires; he has never been overly featured in any of the 4 preceding books, but always a token appearance or mention. Owen has been focused on his school and medical career since he was a HS student. Even dealing with his best-friends (Andi, who is now his sister-in-law) cancer during college in Boston, he was never deterred from his path.
Owen returns to California and his family, he has bought an established medical practice and guess who is part of the medical staff? The other part of his HS friend trio, Layla Caine. Although Owen is trying to figure out why Layla abruptly stopped their friendship right before HS graduation.
Working in the clinic everyday, Owen is hoping to re-establish his friendship with Layla or at least wear down her hostility. Slowly, but surely, Owen wears Layla down and when she finally discloses the reason for the hostility, a huge misunderstanding is cleared up and Owen is hoping to move forward into a ‘relationship’ with Layla.
Obstacles are always in the way, and as a time-defined, trial relationship draws to a close, will they have what it takes to continue into a real relationship.
There is a huge twist that I never saw coming, but it was SO GOOD and insightful into Layla’s character and I think it lays the groundwork for Jaxson Montgomery’s story to follow.
Endeared is the final book for the last and the youngest of the West Coast Sinclair siblings and I really enjoyed it. Owen and Layla had been secretly in love with each other when they were in high school. They were also the best of friends but a misunderstanding right before Owen left for college separated them for 10 years. Now Owen is back in Citrus Beach and he is the newest owner of the medical clinic that Layla is a nurse practitioner for. This finally gives Owen a chance to find out what had happened and to move forward with their lives. Layla wanted nothing to do with Owen, but he was persistent. When the misunderstanding is finally revealed, Layla is horrified to realize how wrong she was. They were on their way back to the friendship they had, but Owen wanted more. Unfortunately Layla is still hiding things from Owen and feels like she can not give him what he deserves so he comes up with a plan to change Layla’s mind.
Owen and Layla’s road to their happily ever after was bumpy but to finally see the two of them happy and healed was so wonderful. To be completely honest, I did have a difficult time with the misunderstanding that made Layla hate Owen so much and how it took 10 years to finally figure out what happened, but I then realized they were both so young and had a lot going on in their lives, I was able to let it go.
Overall, their story was another great read. Owen was just amazing, he was so patient, loyal and so forgiving, but don’t get me wrong when he realized what he wanted with Layla, he was one determined man! I do need to give a shout out to Brutus, I love when a fur-baby is involved with the HEA.
Thank you to Netgalley, Montlake Romance and the author for giving me the opportunity to read this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.
There really hasn’t been a book by Ms Scott that I haven’t enjoyed and this one is no different. We really didn’t know Owen from the previous books about his siblings because he was on another coast and extremely busy studying to be a doctor. He had a different experience growing up than his brothers, mainly because he was the youngest. Layla had a total different life experience than Owen and it was even more difficult. Due to an extreme misunderstanding and stubbornness on Layla’s side, many years passed before they continued their friendship that started as teens. This was a wonderful story of two people who find themselves and each other again.
The last of this Sinclair family.
This is a second chance sorta friends to enemies to friend to lovers trope. The youngest male Sinclair, Owen, was best friends in high school with Layla. They were both shy, awkward teens who had a thing for one another but hadn’t let the other know. There was a misunderstanding during their senior year that, while Layla assumed something incorrectly, was simply not true. She pulled away from him and they each went their own separate ways to college and then into their professions. Ten years after this misunderstanding, Owen returns to his hometown and ends up working in the same clinics with Layla, who is not happy to be seeing him on a daily basis. Fairly early on they have a discussion about what happened and the misunderstanding is cleared up. Layla had thought the worst of Owen and without getting to the bottom of things, she simply wrote him off. Once the matter is resolved, Owen uses her guilt to his advantage to get her to spend time with him. As they are sending time together, old feeling re-emerge and they remember why the other had been so special in the past. Their feelings deepen as they are mature adults now and they work to come together in a meaningful way. Their relationship today is great. They are friends who share their work, their lives and their bodies with each other.
The premise of the story is a good one. My issue is with Owen and how he was written. Owen is written as a single minded guy who has done nothing but study and work hard in the medical field often times forgetting to sleep and eat, yet he has the body of a Greek god? Not sure I’m buying that. I found him to be kinda bookish and shy which is fine but when he was with Layla in the bedroom, he was a growly alpha. That could happen but many times I just felt his reactions were way over the top growly alpha. I just wasn’t buying it. These actions just didn’t seem to fit who I had the impression that he was. Not to say that sweet guys can’t be growly alpha but his internal dialog seemed to belong to someone different, in my opinion. I liked Layla. I admired her strength and courage. Even though she made a terrible mistake that caused them to lose their friendship, she took steps to make things right once the truth was known. I especially liked her text friendship on the dating app. I liked the person that her ‘friend’ encouraged her to be. Also like the little surprise of who the friend was and how that came out.
I have read most of the stories in all of these connected series and this is the first time that I really couldn’t connect with the hero, not sure why. It will definitely NOT stop me from reading more in the future! Take the chance and try this story for yourself. Hopefully you can connect with Owen better than I could, but I definitely think you’ll love Layla!
I hate this book, but not for the reason you may think. This is the last book in the Accidental Billionaires series, but it also closes out the Sinclair series in a way. I will be missing the two Sin-clair families, missing the way they pull together for one another even though their lives have been very different.
This is the story of Owen, the youngest of the California Sinclairs. Owen is brilliant and worked his butt off to go to Boston to school and eventually become a doctor. Returning to Citrus Beach, he ends up taking over the clinic where his high school friend Layla is now a Nurse Practitioner. They had a falling out their senior year in high school and Owen always wondered about the girl he fell for back then and didn’t understand what happened. Of course Layla thinks he knows exactly what he did (misunderstanding time!) and she has some happenings in her life that she doesn’t want to share. They get thrown together outside of work and eventually secrets become known. I especially like that we run into not only the California Sinclairs but also the East Coast Sinclairs in this story. Loved that Owen and Layla work out old differences, have a few issues, and eventually end up where they should be.
Ms. Scott also ends the book with a rundown of all the siblings and where they are in their lives! LOVE IT! Even though I hate to say goodbye to some good (book) friends, I will be looking for-ward to the next series coming from the inventive mind of J.S. Scott.
“Endeared” (The Accidental Billionaires Book 5) by J.S. Scott is a fabulous read. I loved Owen and Layla’s story. This is a wonderful addition to this series. This story is packed with romance, passion, entertaining characters, family, billionaires, friends to lovers, twists, and more. I’m sad this was the last Sinclair, but I’m glad we’ll get to catch up with these characters in The Billionaire’s Obsession Series. Highly recommend to all fans of romance, billionaires, entertaining characters, family, and series.
I love every book J.S. Scott has written. Endeared is no exception. Owen is the ultimate man and Layla is his perfect match!
Owen and Layla are great together! They have been friends since high school and have secretly wanted each other since high school. Owen went to medical school out east and Layla stayed home. All the supporting characters are great, especially Brutus, the ugliest dog in town. Great story
Even since they were kids,, billionaire Owen Sinclair has always cared for Layla, sharing so much in their lives. Yet now that Owen is back home and working with Layla, he doesn’t know what happened to make her turn away from him. It is obvious Owen wants to make her happy and as their story unfolds, I saw the raw emotion that Jan was able to write about her characters with real issues that affect a lot of us. Their characters were human and realistic, reminding us that happy endings can happen.
While sad that The Accidental Billionaires series is done, I am excited to know that Jan will continue on with more of her Billionaire’s Obsession books.
After the fate divided Owen and Layla for many years, they try to find out, if they can build their friendship again. Its really hart, because both of them secretly love the other one. Layla have to conquer her demons from past, so she can accept happy future.
This was really beautiful finalle of Sinclair saga. I loved it.
It was also amazing, how the author brought into the book her personal experience from her visit in Paris and restoration of Notre Dame.
Within these pages lies bittersweet heartache. Endeared is a chance to say goodbye as we stand on the cusp of hello. A chance to reminisce with old friends as our hearts are introduced to new ones. Scott continues to inspire hope while giving readers something to look forward to. Owen and Layla shake up emotions with a yearning that proves itself too irresistible to resist. Endeared is a love ballad to lovers everywhere.
An engaging, sexy, fun & moving book
with characters you cannot get enough of.
I truly enjoyed reading it.
Owen & Layla, had been friends
since High School. When everything
changed for them at the end of their
Senior year.
10 year later, Owen & Layla, see each

Romantic story that pulls on your
heartstrings from start to finish.
DEFINITE MUST READ!!
Who doesn’t love a Sinclair?
I have fallen in love with each and every Sinclair. I cannot even pick a favorite because they all have their individual qualities. This one was no different. You could tell from the very beginning of the book that Owen was a very loving and loyal person who would go to the end of the world for anyone. He would give away all of his money just to see a smile on someone’s face, especially Layla.
In true Sinclair fashion they always seem to be a little duh, when it come to women. But then Layla didn’t seem to smart when it came to her best friend. We have lots of growling, love, possessiveness in this book. You will not go away disappointed. Except for the face that there will not be any more Sinclairs.
Good thing I have read the books over and over and they will never go away. These books are always my good to reading when I need a good pick me up.
Until Next Time…Tabi
Owen Sinclair comes home to Citrus Beach to buy a medical practice. Layla is a nurse practitioner in the clinic he buys. They were friends in high school. Now she wants nothing to do with him except at work. She has a secret he can’t figure out. He finally convinces her to open up to him and they work through it. Love soon blossoms and they get their happily ever after.
I highly recommend this book. You won’t be disappointed. I couldn’t put it down.
5 Stars!!!!!
I absolutely fell in love with Owen. I loved this book. It made me laugh and cry. I just couldn’t put it down. Another great book by J.S Scott.
