Love isn’t beautiful. And neither is the final riff of my guitar as it bleeds into silence.I wait for him to say something, anything. But he just stares at me with his whiskey-colored eyes as if he knows I need him. And I do. My album won’t record itself and he’s the best producer in the business. But I made a mistake.I crossed a line. Now I’m at his mercy, and his brand of destruction is going to … his brand of destruction is going to ruin more than my career.

This is only my second read from this author and I am hooked. Into my 2018 Favourites – this is Rockstar done right!
You don’t get much growlier than Zeke the HAF music producer. The grump with a soft interior – just like a yummy chocolate! I have serious love/lust for this guy and Willow is the perfect gentle, somewhat flighty soul who balances him out. Their attraction is unavoidable.
“Baby girl, you’ve got mistake written all over you”
This one has a delicious slow burn kind of feel to it, while also having a great smooth pace that left me wanting more – I could have happily read another 10 chapters about these two. The feelings felt very genuine and the dialogue had me either laughing or squirming. The chemistry is palpable and don’t even get me started on the sex scenes – hubby got a happy 1am wake up call
“Good girl. Now, hurry up and feed me. I’m starving.”
Add into this a dash of angst, lots of emotions and the opportunity to catch up with Reid, Drake & Shiloh and I was a happy reader. Have to say I’m intrigued for Drake’s book next – I want this resident man-whore to get his heart stolen by the right girl.
This is one of the best book I read this year, you will love Zeke all the way, he is an strong character. The storyline is great and very hot
Thanks to Lee pipper for the opportunity. I really love you
I have never read a book I was so addicted to as I was to this one. Holy Smokes! The sexual chemistry and intimidation in this story was off the charts! Willow is musician recording with her band. Zeke is the music producer. Heads butt. And so do their hearts (among other things). The push and pull between these two had me hooked on every word. They have to be my new all time favorite couple now. And the mouth on Zeke! He will have you blushing the whole time through. This is definitely a must read for romance fans. Also a fan of music romances? This book is for you. You will swoon hard for Zeke with his dominating alpha male personality but really just a man whose been heart broken. You will think that Willow is most bad ass woman you have ever encountered with her strive for her dreams, her heart to take care of those she loves and the power to take Zeke on full force.
Read this book now. But I warn you, clear your schedule because you won’t be able to put it down!
This book in the second of the Rising Star series is outstanding! Lee Piper has crafted both a slow burn romance coupled with an instant connection/whirlwind romance.
At the beginning it’s a slow-burn between Willow and Zeke but there was a magnet chemistry that kept pulling them together, no matter how hard they tried to fight it. The sexual tension and chemistry was amazing. I honestly couldn’t get over how delicious Zeke was in all his broody gloriousness. He is sexy, bad-ass, alpha, but it has to be said, I was completely and utterly shocked at what he was hiding underneath that rugged, tough exterior…..mind blowing!
As for Willow. I adored her. She is just a unique, beautiful, loving, caring woman who never backed down and always lectured Zeke over his manners!
As much as I loved the storytelling from Willow’s perspective, I did feel like I missed out on Zeke’s aspect and would have loved a dual point of view. The secondary characters, as ever, were great and well developed – I loved Drake and can’t wait for his story in Lee Piper’s next book in the series, When Stars Fall.
I throughly enjoyed reading this book and would highly recommend it. This story has everything; exceptional characters, has all the feels, a lot of hot scenes and dirty talking, a villain and the ending is the absolute best!!!
This is the second book in this phenomenal series. Zeke is a grumpy music producer, and Willow is a gentle, free spirited guitarist. The chemistry between these two is explosive, and I loved the secondary characters. No spoilers though; this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed! This is a beautifully written story, which is emotional, heartbreaking, humorous, and steamy. I look forward to reading more from this talented author, whose work I highly recommend for all.
Be ready to fall in love with hot headed Zeke! Willow and Zekes story is defiantly a roller coaster ride so hold on tight. I seriously didn’t want this book to end I loved this story so much.
This is the second book in this series and I read it as a stand alone , Willow loves a good storm and Zeke is a storm to be reckoned with!
Tough as nails, closed off and a regular grump is the hottest music producer Zeke , and he just happens to be producing Willows first album.
Willow with her crystals, yoga, auras and teas is nothing that Zeke is used too. When they too finally get together it is an all out storm!
I loved Willow and loved the relationship she has with her mom, who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s!
Zeke surprised me , there were many many layers to him !
My first book by this author and definitely not my last !
The chemistry in this book between Zeke and Willow is off the charts! Great love story.
4.5
This is book 2 in The Rising Star series and it’s the story about Willow and Zeke.
From the first chapter I was hooked with the tension, and not only the sexual one, between Willow and Zeke. My first impression of Zeke: asshole!!!! He’s really not the nice kind of guy but even though he behaves like an animal you don’t have a chance – no chance of falling in love with him while reading this book.
Blink.
Silence.
Growl.
God, he’s killing me .
And that’s exactly Willows problem. She doesn’t want to “want” him, but she’s helpless and it’s crystal clear, she can’t stay away – this has to happen. But she’s also afraid of falling for a guy who’s definitely not interested in love. She has other, bigger problems she needs to concentrate on. But Willow is captivated by his beauty, his career and also his demeanor, even if he doesn’t show his best sides from day one.
Zeke actually has the biggest heart, he’s only afraid to show it because of his past. His mood swings are quiet funny sometimes, especially when he’s jealous as fuck . I admire Willows patience with him and that she’s permanently trying to make him see, that she’s not the enemy.
Lee Piper’s characters (main and side – yay Shiloh and Reid ) are really special, unique human beings. I love Willows spirit, that she’s practicing yoga and meditation, that she trusts the healing effect of crystals and teas, that she loves her mothers aura reading and that she would do everything for her. She’s strong and determined in every aspect of her life. Zeke is this grumpy, brooding alpha male with a heart of gold who gives everything for his loved ones. He’s successful in his job and in hiding his good side. Only Willow is able to see the truth.
I enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it (you need to read Lie To Me first). Lee Pipers story has everything: exceptional characters, its touching, has a hint of sarcasm, a lot of hot scenes and dirty talk, so much growling, a villain and the best ending.
Can’t wait to read Drake’s story!
Oh, and I really love the cover
This book is sinfully good! In this steamy standalone from the Rising Star series. author Lee Piper gives both a slow burn coupled with an instant connection/whirlwind romance.
Willow is an eclectic, up and coming guitarist, who gives all of her focus to two things – her music and her ailing mother. She wants nothing more than to see her band gain success and care for her mothers needs. That is until she meets the dark and brooding Zeke – the man producing she’s depending on to produce a killer album. Their connection is everything Willow didn’t expect to bring her to her knees. After an unpleasant past, Zeke is broken and angry. Clutching his pain like a shield to keep the world at bay. He may be a man with warm, whiskey-colored eyes, but he’s all ice. Willow knows he could break her heart, but he just might be worth the fall.
I enjoyed Willow – she’s kind and endearing, with a take no bull shit kind of attitude you expect from a badass rocker chick. Zeke however, was my favorite of the two. He’s one of my favorite types of heros – he’s everything. The possessive alpha-male, hot as sin, an impenetrable fortress. Once you gain his trust however, when you pull back the layers you find unshakable loyalty, unbridled passion, and pure devotion. Lee Piper keeps you coming back for more with Willow and Zeke!
As much as I loved the telling of the story from Willow’s perspective, I did feel like I missed out on Zeke’s, and would have loved a dual POV. The side characters were great and well developed – I loved Drake and can’t wait for his story in Lee Piper’s next book in the series, When Stars Fall. Read As You Were, the second standalone in the Rising Star series today, and fall in love with Willow and Zeke!
ARC review
4.5 Cranky Stars
I read this story in basically a day and a half. I was that into plus it seemed like a quick read. I now can’t wait to go back and read book one in the series. Yes, they can be read as a stand alone if you’d like to just jump right in.
Willow in on the verge of stardom. Her band won the top prize on a music show and has the privilege of working with world renowned producer Zeke Denton. Her life is up in the air with a sick mother and hardly a penny to spare to her name. The guitar is her life and her escape. She butts heads with Zeke daily yet she’s drawn to him. He calls to her love of storms. He’s a mystery she can’t walk away from despite her career being on the line.
Zeke is closed off. He keeps everyone at a distance. A manipulative ex wife will do that to you. He takes his job very seriously and pushes his clients to be an even better version of themselves. He spots something amazing in Willow and pushes her almost too hard. She pushes right back. When he decides that she is someone worth putting down his walls for sparks fly. He gives her little tidbits of himself and that’s the most he’s ever done.
I really liked this story. It’s not often you see a story about someone winning a singing show. My only hang up was that I wished I would have gotten more backstory on Zeke. He was an enigma and I guess that’s the lure of him. My kindle was steamy with the heat these two put off. I liked that Willow was true to herself and her family. She didn’t want people to perceive her as someone who slept her way to the top. She didn’t let the stardom get to her. I hate his ex-wife. What a witch with a capital B. Zeke was an alpha to his very core but that just made Willow love him more. Her band mates were pretty awesome as well. I can’t wait to read book three!!
