#1 New York Times bestselling author David Baldacci returns with his most breathtaking thriller yet Will Robie and Jessica Reel are two of the most lethal people alive. They’re the ones the government calls in when the utmost secrecy is required to take out those who plot violence and mass destruction against the United States. And through every mission, one man has always had their backs: their … always had their backs: their handler, code-named Blue Man.
But now, Blue Man is missing.
Last seen in rural Colorado, Blue Man had taken a rare vacation to go fly fishing in his hometown when he disappeared off the grid. With no communications since, the team can’t help but fear the worst.
Sent to investigate, Robie and Reel arrive in the small town of Grand to discover that it has its own share of problems. A stagnant local economy and a woefully understaffed police force have made this small community a magnet for crime, drugs, and a growing number of militant fringe groups.
But lying in wait in Grand is an even more insidious and sweeping threat, one that may shake the very foundations of America. And when Robie and Reel find themselves up against an adversary with superior firepower and a home-court advantage, they’ll be lucky if they make it out alive, with or without Blue Man . . .

He is one of my favorite authors and you can’t put the book down.
Interesting
Wow!! Non-stop action is an understatement for this book. I’ve never read Baldacci before, but I will from now on. Scarily up-to-date scenarios keep you reading page after page.
Excellent author!
All of his books make for a great read!
Oh David, please say this isn’t the end of Robie and Reel’s adventures! What a ride it’s been! Though sometimes convenient in how they manage to extricate themselves from danger and death, I have enjoyed every step of their partnership. I love their complexities, their screwed up pasts, their flawed perspectives on life and what is “normal”. I mostly love the way they kick ass. Reel is my hero. If I had any complaints, it’s that I’m really done with neo-Nazis and white supremacists, as satisfying as it might be to “see” them get taken out.
Action packed, but kind of pointless.
This was another on-the-edge-of-your-seat book by David Baldacci. This one was difficult to listen to as an audiobook because of the horrible people with whom Robie and Reel have to interact with. There are just some mean characters that cause such havoc.
I do feel like Robie’s human side was a little more evident in how he handled his feelings about Reel. He is not a robot that just “does what he’s told to do.” He has feelings and is struggling how to handle them.
I have enjoyed listening to many of the author’s audiobooks. I imagine reading a paper copy would be as pleasurable.
It was interesting seeing Reel and Robie working together, both dealing with ghosts of their life past and trying to avoid their feelings for one another while searching for the one person that connected them. I finished it in little bit more than 24 hours if that gives you an indication of what I thought of it.
Slow
I read and recommend anything by David Baldacci.
A should read
I love the author because he writes about the Northern Virginia Washington DC are. I am familiar with his books and he creates great characters.
Another highlight in the Will Robie series.
This was another great read by Baldacci. Looking forward to the next.
Love David baldaci
The 5th book in the Robie/Reel series and it just keeps getting better and better. I will say that some of the fight scenes in the beginning of this one were a bit over the top, but entertaining nonetheless. The character development is stellar as usual and the plot was action packed as well as fast paced to keep you intrigued and turning pages or in my case driving around the block as I was listening to the book on CD in my car. If you listen to this series instead of reading it, you won’t be sorry! The reader does an excellent job of enhancing the characters depth with the voices and emotion that he puts into the story. Definitely a must read if you like a good, action packed mystery.
not one of his best books
Suspenseful with a plot twist at the end that is a complete surprise.
Possibly my only disappointment in reading a Baldacci book. Totally different from any other book and certainly a radical departure and turn in some prior great characters. Way too much “uncertainty” and male/female relationship psychology and on again/off again feelings – especially for two people who have worked so seamlessly together in severe stress where quick decisions and decisive action is the norm of life. This did not do it for me.
Another good read from a great author.
