This was a really good second chance romance and a great start to the series. Shelby and Austin were high school sweetheart but their careers took them in different directions he wanted to be a rock star and she is a librarian. Now after five years he is back in town to help his family after a tornado came through their town. When these two keep bumping into each other they soon realise their old feelings are still there.
This Encore is a call for a repeat performance. Will the second time be better?
Austin and Shelby were high school sweethearts. She was the one for him. When she convinced him to audition for Supernova singing competition, he did it for her. That decision changed the direction of his life. If he had it to do over, would he? If he knew ahead of time that it would cost him Shelby, would it make a difference?
Shelby knew that Austin was meant to sing. She wanted to hold on to him, but she couldn’t. She pushed him away, toward his future fans. That decision changed the direction of her life. If she had it to do over again, would she do it again? Or would she hold on to the love of her life instead of breaking her own heart?
Austin’s family still lives in Nebraska, near Shelby. Over the years he’s chosen to let them visit him rather than going back home. If he can’t have her, he doesn’t want to see her. But when something out of his control forces him to confront his past, he comes face-to-face with his lost love. She’s changed. What happened to her over the last five years? He wants to know, but he doesn’t have the right to ask. She’s not his. But he wants her to be.
I not only fell for Austin, I fell for his band members, and his family too. I got caught up in all of their lives and invested in their futures. I was a nosy neighbor meddling through the pages of my kindle as they faced heavy decisions and tragic situations. Of course, I had an opinion about what they should do, and with whom. I can’t wait to find out if the author agrees. What a great start to a new rockstar romance series. I can’t wait to get to know all the band members better and hopefully spend some more time with Austin’s family, they are amazing and funny. The line forms here…
This second chance romance between rockstar Austin and his high school girlfriend Shelby was a great read. These two spent years apart but a tornado in his hometown brings him back and they reconnect. It’s going to be a hard fought second chance for Austin though because Shelby has had her heart broken and isn’t sure she can’t trust that she’s enough to keep his love. Their story has a fun and beautiful ending

Life as a superstar isn’t all easy glitz and glamor for pop star Austin, but when he returns home and reconnects with his high school love Shelby, he instantly feels settled.
Encore by Emily Robertson is a steamy entertaining second chance romance! It is a great start to this series about Austin and his band mates!
I have to say that Emily Robertson is one of my favourite authors! This is the 6th book I’ve read from her, and not once have I ever been disappointed! In this novel, it’s a second chance romance. Shelby and Austin broke up, and this time he won’t let her go. Their chemistry together is sizzling hot but what is most memorable is how much he loves her (and she him), and their interactions. I love the addition of family and friends in this story, and how great Austin’s mom is. This book is thoroughly entertaining and riveting!

This was a good story but it would have been better if Shelby wasn’t so self-deprecated and I just thought it was a bit much. Austin was so great and I really rooted for him.

This is book one in The Love and Harmony Series and it is Austin and Shelby’s story and it is a must read. Austin and Shelby were high school sweethearts and really in love but when Austin made it big in the music industry that is when everything came to a head between them and they separated as they would be in different directions in there life. Five years later and a hurricane rips through Austin’s hometown having devastating consequences so he decides to go and help even though he has avoided going back because of all that he had lost there but when he sees Shelby again he knows that he is not giving up on a second chance with her as there connection and chemistry between them is still as strong as ever but how will it all turn out for them as there situation is still the same with where they live. Wow this was a really great second chance romance and I can’t wait to read the next book. Emily Robertson certainly knows how to keep her reader’s attention and I have enjoyed every single book that I have read by her as they are so well written and definitely worth reading.

This was an enjoyable read. The story was well-written and flowed nicely. The plot was interesting and had some twists that made this an entertaining story. I volunteered to read this ARC for an honest review. I enjoyed this story about Austin and Shelby.. They are the cute high school sweethearts when a chance on a singing show changes everything. Fast forward five years and both of their lives are so different. He’s a bad boy rocker and she’s getting by. When a tornado rips their world apart and tosses it together again. She fights the pull to be with him, but when he sees her again, he is determined to win her back. Great HEA in the end with lots of drama and trans.

I liked the book. I like Austin and the contest and the stuff that followed with his career and his dad, Amanda, and Bren. I liked the reunion with Shelby, his highschool girlfriend. That fact that he went to help the tornado victims and found Shelby. Shelby seemed a little down on herself. I liked the way Emily Robertson told this story and the characters were well written. I will read more by Emily Robertson in the future.

I loved this story. The pain and the mistakes of kids were very well portrayed. I cried, I laughed, and probably went through every feeling on the emotion spectrum. The tornado was both a real and more in-depth meaning of how the lives of the main characters went. It was a heartbreaking, heart wrenching second chance novel filled with love and pain.
I wrote this voluntary review in exchange for an ARC copy.
This was my first read from this Author (Thank you Blind-date with a book) and I really liked it. I was hooked from beginning to end. I will admit I was slightly unsure going into it as rockstar romances are not one of my favourite tropes but I honestly did enjoy this one and I am looking forward to reading the next one in the series.
Shelby and Austin were high school sweethearts until he got his big break in the music industry and joined a boy band. To allow him to follow his dream Shelby set him free and he barely looked back. Years later when a tornado rips his hometown apart and his family are hurt he flies back to see what he can do to help and finds himself again.
After spending time together the old feelings resurface and are even stronger then before but this time Austin will not let her get away, he will fight for what he wants. Maybe this time he can have both worlds.
Can’t wait to read book 2 in this series
3.5 s
Overall, Encore by Emily Robertson was an enjoyable read. I liked the premise of second chance love. I was not immediately enamored with the characters, though. I had a hard time feeling connected to both the hero and heroine. He was not very likeable. She obviously had huge self-esteem issues which allowed to settle in an abusive relationship. It was hard for me to relate to him or feel his connection to her.
However at some point in the story, a switch flipped and I was rooting for Austin and Shelby to work things out. They needed to be together. I wanted them to get to a place where they could appreciate each other and enjoy the love which was obviously present between them.
I always appreciated the relationships of Austin with his bandmates. These young men had each other’s backs and were true fiends through thick and thin. I also loved the family dynamics between Austin, his mom, and siblings.
Even though I struggled with the disjointed beginning chapters of this story, Emily Robertson pulled the story together and had a strong finish. I will read the rest if the books in this series, because there seemed to be some interesting stories brewing with the boys in this band.
This is not your typical rockstar romance! This book is raw, real and gritty and gives you all the feels. From the very beginning there was just something so appealing about Austin. Yes, he didn’t do relationships with women but he was still a really good guy and you could tell he was genuine and heartfelt. Shelby is not your typical character you see in books and I really appreciated that. I found her to be really relatable. She faced a number of insecurities throughout the novel and had a curvy body that she was sometimes uncomfortable with but Austin loved her all the same! Honestly, this whole book was really refreshing. The whole band was not just band mates, but they were family and looked out for one another throughout the novel. Austin jumped through hoops to prove to his high school love that he could be the man for her and Austin and Shelby faced really challenging moments together and came out on the other side stronger. The novel has a lot of hard hitting moments in it and the storyline is captivating and engaging. I didn’t want to put this book down. I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!
This is my first book from this author and it won’t be my last. Austin and Shelby are so perfect for each other. I love the interaction of all the characters in the story and I can’t wait to read the next one. Especially if it is as sweet, funny , and sexy as this one.
It was a good read. I did have trouble connecting with the characters. I liked Austin but I just couldn’t like Shelby. She did a good thing by breaking up with Austin so he can pursue his dream but other than that, I found her annoying. I do enjoy second chance romances and that was what redeemed it for me.
I like how Austin and Shelby came back together. I look forward reading the other books in this series. It was a good book to read.
God I love second chance romances! This one was so good, I have to read the rest of the series. I loved the paparazzi articles in every chapter, some of them were ridiculously funny Shelby and Austin’s love was so pure and sweet, but I hated how insecure and self conscious Shelby had become, no one should feel that way.
And that sob Colby? I just wanted to punch him in the face and make him stop talking sh*t, he was such a douche! But I’m so happy for how things turned out, they are the perfect couple one thing that I still need to find out, and that I’m very suspicious, is who’s Reece’s father. I think I know, but I’m sot sure, I have to keep reading to find out
High intensity reading, not just of the romance, but of situations and some events that are completely out of anyone’s control. A heartfelt tale that wrings your heart out for every drop of blood and then pumps your heart back up again to overflowing. The title of this novel is “Encore” but it also could have been titled “Endure”. Wow! Just so emotional of a journey when undertaking to read this novel. So worth it to take the time to read, for everyone. This is much, much more than a romance, a rock star rising, family – albeit by blood or by heart, it is about raw life moments that can occur to anyone.
Great must read! Highly recommended!!
