DON’T MESS WITH HEXES
Katie Chandler had always heard that New York is a weird and wonderful place, but this small-town Texas gal had no idea how weird until she moved there. Everywhere she goes, she sees something worth gawking at and Katie is afraid she’s a little too normal to make a splash in the big city. Working for an ogre of a boss doesn’t help.
Then, seemingly out of the blue, Katie … the blue, Katie gets a job offer from Magic, Spells, and Illusions, Inc., a company that tricks of the trade to the magic community. For MSI, Katie’s ordinariness is an asset. Lacking any bit of magic, she can easily spot a fake spell, catch hidden clauses in competitor’s contracts, and detect magically disguised intruders. Suddenly, average Katie is very special indeed.
She quickly learns that office politics are even more complicated when your new boss is a real ogre, and you have a crush on the sexy, shy, ultra powerful head of the R&D department, who is so busy fighting an evil competitor threatening to sell black magic on the street that he seems barely to notice Katie. Now it’s up to Katie to pull off the impossible: save the world and — hopefully — live happily ever after.

I was looking for something light, easy to read and fun and I found this series. There are wizards, fairies, gnomes, flying gargoyles, enchanted frogs, regular humans AND then there’s Katie. Have some fun and start the series by reading this book.
I totally enjoyed this book it was surprisingly good I just did not expect to like it so much. Read it you will enjoy it!
Great feel good magic fantasy book.
Not my usual genre but a fun read on a cold wet day.
Great series
Swendson took a very popular theme and made it her own. The magic included has enough twists that it is not just a Hogwarts bandwagon, but is its own delightful series. I have read the entire series and truly like many of the characters.
Well written fantasy set in a plausible alternative universe. Enjoyable and engaging characters. Since I write myself, I am pretty critical of slipshod writing. This series is excellent. I read them all in less than a week. Did I mention I read omnivorously?
In this first volume of the Enchanted, Inc. series, we are introduced to a fictionalized version of New York where humans live alongside various magical creatures, completely oblivious to their existence. That is, unless the human in question happens to be the rare wizard, or even more rare magical immune – which allows them to see past the spells that the magical folk use to hide themselves on a daily basis. Books pertaining to magic are a dime a dozen, but the concept of magical immunes feels fresh and new, which gives this book the impact it needs to stand out. Another thing that makes the books appealing is that the world itself is relatable. The characters are likable (except those who are meant not to be) and the central characters are well developed. The plot is intriguing and quite humorous. Overall, it’s a fun read. Full review on blog.
I thought this book was so fun! I loved the magic that was interwoven with modern technology. I also liked that the most ordinary person was such an asset to the magical community. This is a feel good read that’s quick to get through. I enjoyed the characters, and I’m looking forward to continuing the series.
A fun read.
Well written and clean.
Suitable for adults and teens.
This is a fun book. How wild to be able to see fairies etc and that be unusual. The author did a good job orienting you into this magical world. I already downloaded the next book. There isn’t any swearing and no explicit love scenes. In fact, she’s hardly even dating. There are handsome and powerful men.
Love this series!
