A beautiful exotic romance set in 17/18century Christian background England, by an author from a Hindu/Indian 21 century with an Indian/ American/ English back ground, who does not conceive of communication and culture in an age before telegraph/ steam/and the post office, let allone 2 world wars. It makes much more sense to recognize as an author from a say Gujarati Indian trading background adjusting to success in a world wide culture. The world really was more different cf authors nearer their time and place Georgette Heyer/ Jane Austen. Still a lovely romance.
When I started reading this story, I could have thought I read it before. The story itself is filled with intrigue, mystery and a handsome Marquess who doesn’t know when to stop. It’s why he gets caught up in Lavinia life. I knew who the bad guy was in this story. The Lord everyone focuses on is a villain, but he is not the truly despicable one in this story. He is smart, but when he believes he has won; he shows his hand. Pride and vanity is the villain’s downfall every time. The story and plot end in an exciting climax.
A well written book that I enjoyed reading. I am so glad Sir Henry got what he deserved, and that Lavinia Bronson and her friend Anna each got their happy ending with the men they came to love. A story that flows smoothly from page to page with a good story line. I recommend this book.
Lavinia must find a husband after the death of her dear father. Her mother is insisting but she is not interested. Myles has a secret oath that he cannot reveal. He has promised Lavinia’s father that he would protect and care for her, and help her to find a suitable husband, but he cannot tell her why. He infuriates her, she is stubborn. They learn more about each other as they work together to find Lavinia a good match. There are rakes that only want her for her money, but there are those who profess to love her. Someone is out to sully her reputation. Can Myles find her a suitable husband and keep her safe?
While I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful story, I was surprised by the amount of errors in the book. Most seemed to be typos, sometimes words were crammed together without spacing. Sadly, the editing seems to be lacking on this one.
This story shows the reader how devious and deceitful some of the noblemen became in the Regency Era. Bringing their circumstances upon themselves, because of their selfish roguish behavior and gambling debts. All Lavinia Bronson wanted was to love the man she would marry. Myles, MarQuess of Kent made a promise to Lavinia’s father before his death. He had the utmost respect for Lavinia’s father. Myles is determined to follow through and protect Lavinia until she chooses her husband, and the way Myles resolves this is by asking her to marry him. Unfortunately Myles has to protect Lavinia from Lord Ashdown’s evil and threatening ways. Sir Henry Astor is the only other man in her life since childhood who has turned into an imposter. Anna Astor is Lavinia’s best friend she is being blackmailed by Lord Ashdown. Anna and Myles are on a mission to bring Lord Ashdown to justice, and Lavinia and Myles will be able to have their future together. A Wonderful love story with lots of twists and turns along the way to a happy ever after ending. Another Great Story by Fanny Finch!
An amazing suspenseful story of a young woman, Miss Lavinia Bronson and the man charged by her father to protect her from unscrupulous marriage minded men. Lord Myles Arlington, the Marquess of Kent gave a solemn vow to Lavinia’s father, Sir Edward Bronson in the case of his death that Myles would be sure to ascertain the worthiness of all of Lavinia’s suitors. Sir Edward advised Myles of the true reason for his request and that he was not to reveal it to Lavinia till after she was secure with her intended. Myles did his best to comply but keep angering Lavinia with his cryptic warnings of her many suitors. The story covers the different type of men after Lavinia, the lengths they would go to to control her and their greed. One was an evil masochist who hid his true character. Another suitor seemed harmless but of course what you see is not always what you get until it is too late. Unfortunately, the evil web of Lavinia’s seduction was cast wide and involved many good people. Some did not deserve to be treated so badly. The mystery and suspense kept me turning page after page. I literally stayed up till the wee hours of the morning just to finish the book. I could not put it down. The characters are so unique and original. Their personalities embodied wonderful qualities that made want to get to know them better. An incredible read and I highly recommend it.
Fanny Finch’s Enchanted by the Mysterious Marquess goes everything a truly great “Clean & Sweet” Regency romance should do. It has engaging leads in Lavina and Myles (the Marquis), a good justification to push them together (he promised her now deceased father to protect her from gold-digging rakes), a well done – and Regency Period appropriate – romance and a great plot that’s well written. Got lovers if this genre what more could you ask for? But for the fact that I’m literally dictating this review to my husband from my hospital bed I could go on and on with praises. The book definitely deserves it. Since I can’t do that I will simply note that the book is most definitely one to read, and it is easy to highly recommend.
Wow! What a great story. I really enjoyed reading this book. I think it’s extremely well-written and the characters very engaging and well-described. There are so many exciting twists and turns in the story line, and you never know what’s going to happen next. I couldn’t put it down. It was just so sweet when Myles and Lavinia finally come together in the end, and have their happily ever after. Also I was cheering for Lavinia’s friend Anna who finally found love with Myles’ friend Jasper. This book was a thoroughly enjoyable read. Great job, Fanny Finch!
