It was a fun book to read. A good break from reality.
It was great a classic story with a fun retelling
It was just what it professed to be…a beauty and the beast retelling. I did enjoy it.
It was different and entertaining if you like magic and fantasy
A twist on an old classic
It was a good predictable story.
It’s a tale as old as time…. It was an interesting twist to Beauty and the Beast but I wanted the story to move a little faster. I was anxious to get to the next twist since I felt like I already knew the plot. Great story for a rainy afternoon or beach read.
My first read from author Demelza Carlton was an interesting spin and expansion/re-telling of a series of traditional fairy tales, the thought of reading a “fairy tale” didn’t particularly appeal to me but I’m glad I did. Extremely well written, the characters, even the minor ones, are well developed. I’m a character reader, I get into the characters. Who and what they are. Why they do the things they do. The things that make the reader get invested into the characters and thereby the story. I’ll be reading more from this author!
I haven’t read it yet.
I enjoyed this retelling of Beauty and the Beast. It was original, yet held the basics of the storyline of the well known tale. The characters were interesting. I am looking forward to reading more of her work.
An enchanting read!
A powerful and secretive enchantress…
A horrifying curse…
A cruel, vicious and heartless king…
A beastly prince…
A medieval romance…
This sounds good? Right? Well, what are you waiting for? Buy it now! Such a great retelling of Beauty and the Beast!
Zuleika and the Prince are so wonderful together – enjoyed reading about them, especially with how they were falling in love. Eagerly awaiting the next retelling!
Full of enchantresses, curses, djinns, secrets, pirates, beasts and love.
Perfect for readers of fairytale retellings/medieval romance/fantasy.
A wonderful take on the “Beauty and the Beast” tale.
I really enjoyed the book. So much so, that I couldn’t wait to pick it back up and completely finish reading it. No I can’t wait to read the other books the author had following this book!
For me, this was an absolutely fantastic and engaging book: tension, action, great characters, evil brother. However, it is not a children’s story. Nonetheless, I plan to continue reading the book set as I am not what most would consider a child. Demelza Carlton is a wonderful writer.
Not being familiar with Beauty and the Beast I didn’t know what to expect. It has a gorgeous cover and was a beautiful tale to read. If this is typical of the author’s work then I will most definitely be reading the rest. Note: There is a rape scene at the start of the story. It is not graphic but if you may/will be upset by this please do not read the book.
It was a romantic and happily ever after story that wasn’t devoid of some sadness and guilt. It also just goes to show that you can’t always tell a book by it’s cover and the same goes for people. I enjoyed it very much.
Fun book to read. Enjoyed the story line.
Beautifully written. I loved the story from beginning to end
Fun, light read!
I really enjoyed this take on Beauty and the Beast.
