In the arms of a centuries-old vampire, a woman awakens to newfound passion—and magical powers of her own. Hungarian vampires are born, not made—and can breed with mortal females. Being one of the oldest of his kind, Quill Falconer has honed his skills at hunting just the right kind of prey, which is why his latest victim confounds him. She shouldn’t remember his drinking her blood. And he … shouldn’t still be craving more . . . Callie Hathaway’s life is as normal as it can be after the death of the beloved grandmother who raised her. Until one night, feeling foggy and fatigued, she realizes that a strangely sensual encounter with a dark, handsome man didn’t occur only in her imagination. As Callie and Quill’s unique connection draws them together, an ancient order of knights seeks Quill’s destruction. Being together puts Callie in mortal danger—until she uncovers a magical family legacy. Side by side they’ll fight for survival, and for each other, as the brotherhood of vampire hunters gather for one final showdown.

It had been along time since I had been able to pick up one of this author’s books. Having read several of them I was excited to say the lest. Quill is interesting and caught my attention. Having had a Hungarian uncle a double interest. Callie has that night the kind that makes you swoon. The Callie and Quill take us into their story I was reminded of some of the others read. That ancient order better watch out we do not want them to succeed. This has action and romance the kind you as the reader likes to sink your teeth into.
‘Enchant the Night‘ brings us the story of a Hungarian vampire, born never made and who could mate/have children with human women. Although Quill has lived a very long time he hasn’t found what some would consider a soulmate – until he encounters a woman who keeps the memory of his feeding on her blood despite his best efforts to wipe that fact from her mind. Callie is unique in that she has her own magic, yet dormant, and comes from a line of witches that she had thought was just a silly family rumor. No, Callie is a witch and she’s about to get an education in not only her own history and abilities but that of vampires and vampire hunters as well.
Most of what you’d want to know can be found in the Cover Description. I am torn on ‘Enchant the Night‘ for there were parts that I greatly enjoyed, and others that felt bland or even uncomfortable, and not what I usually find in this author’s work. In order to explain why I feel this way I’d have to give away spoilers – and that I do not willingly do. This is going to be a review where I’ll tell you frankly that you need to make up your own mind about this book. I’m giving it a 3.5-star rating on my blog and will round that up to 4-stars on the places I leave reviews. It’s a good book simply one where I couldn’t connect with the characters and there were factors in the hero’s past that I couldn’t feel comfortable with given that Callie is supposed to be his soulmate. Again, this is my opinion, you should make up your own mind.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher, Kensington Books via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
Enchant the Night by Amanda Ashley is the story of Quill Falconer and Callie Hathaway.
Quill is a vampire who is over a 100 year old who is used to taken blood and then wiping the memory of his victim away. But when he takes from Callie he feels something different then he tries to wipe her memory of the incident but it doesn’t work. Callie was raised by her grandmother who she has now lost. When Quill is attacked by the Knights of the Dark Wood, she saves him and keeps him hidden while he recovers. A trust is starting to build between the two along with the growing danger. I enjoyed their story.
Quill an ancient Hungarian Vampire one of the last of his kind has been hoping for a human mate through all his long life. He is been hunted by a order of Knights who are protected by magic. A chance meeting with Callie will change both their lives. He takes her blood but cannot erase her memory. Callie may have magic in her family having memories of her Grandma and friends being different. Quill and Callie go on the run when a local Vampire settlement is slaughtered. They must stay one step ahead of the Knights who just appear from nowhere. This is an exciting story of Vampires and other magical beings with Callie learning all that she may become. Two characters who leave you routing for them and the future of their races.
I was given an arc of this book by Netgalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Enchant the Night is a bewitching tale of love between an ancient vampire and a newbie witch. This story took unexpected twists and turns that kept me flipping pages.
I like Quill, he’s one of the good ones, compassionate, considerate and so patient with Callie. The perception of the Knights differs which makes the life of a vampire peace-less. I like Callie too, she’s sweet and really blossoms as she bravely builds trust in him and her magic. Their attraction is magnetic and just meant to be. Few twist and turns adding adventure. Enjoyed reading this engaging story which in the end left me giddy and smiling because their happiness shines through all the dangerous peril they endured. Lot of history of vampire, lineage and the very skilled and determined Knights but I think Callie as well as some readers need that. At this time and stage of my vampire romance depository, I prefer a bit more steam for intensity and less gore. I was provided a free copy and am voluntarily reviewing.
This one was a great read Quill being a different kind of Vampire called a Hungarian they are more like humans with some differences. Callie is his prey but she doesn’t act the way normal prey she remember everything that has happened between them and the attraction is pulling them together. Danger is in the form of vampire killers that have tracked him down and puts them both in danger. Loved the interactions between them very well thought out story kept my attention all the way cheering them on If you like vampire romance books you will love this one I really enjoy this authors books
Vampires, witches, silver swords and knives.
Hungarian vampire Quill Falconer meets Callie Hathaway one night when he takes some of her blood. For some reason he can’t wipe her mind from his bite, nor can he forget her. There’s a connection, but Quill doesn’t understand what it is. Hungarian vampires can mate with mortals. Callie seems mortal, but her Grandma Ava wasn’t exactly like other grandmas. Knights of the Dark Wood have vowed to kill all vampires, Hungarian and Transylvanian. As Quill and Callie grow closer, so do their enemies. With unexpected help they may destroy the Knights.
A fast paced sensual romance between a lonely vampire and a young lady, who finds her place in the world of vampires and witches. Very entertaining!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.
Could have been written in the 1950’s. A bit disappointing from a favorite author.
Another wonderful story Amanda!
Though Quill Falconer is one of the oldest vampires, he has never been on love. That is until he meets Callie. He had only intended to feed on her and then erase her memories. However, her blood tastes familiar, and his memory wipe doesn’t work.
When Callie saves him after a brutal attack by the Knights of the Dark Wood, a group determined to hunt and kill all vampires, and takes him to her home, they can’t deny their connection.
As Callie and Quill grow closer and learn each other’s secrets, they must also prepare for the constant threat of the Knights and their relentless pursuit of Quill. This threat takes them to various places across the country until they wage an epic battle that will determine their future. Can they defeat the knights and resolve their conflicts before it’s too late?
Callie has one major hangup, and it’s not that Quill is a vampire. Decades ago, Quill had a relationship with Callie’s grandmother. Callie struggles with this news and the revelation effects their romance. Callie doesn’t know if she can get past this information. I did not like this aspect of the story. It seemed like an unnecessary obstacle that this couple had to face, and it’s a bit…odd.
I also felt like Callie was a bit immature. The dismissive way that treated her traumatized friend and the superficial inner conflicts that she felt did not appeal to me. She also is passive and lets Quill run their lives even though she is powerful in her own right.
Additionally, the romance between Callie and Quill progressed slowly, and I had hoped that the story would delve further into the history of the vampires and the Knights of the Dark Wood. This seemed like a missed opportunity to develop the plot and characters.
Though this story has an interesting premise, it was just not the book for me, as I didn’t connect with the characters or the plot. Thanks to Netgalley and Kensington Books for a copy of the story in exchange for my honest review.
This is my first vampire novel by this author and I have to say she is an artist at the almost Gothic feel she imparted to the story. This book kept me engaged and thoroughly enthralled to the point that I didn’t want to put it down
Quill Falconer is a centuries old vampire a Hungarian vampire which means he was born not made This also means that he can mate with a human woman. He feeds on Callie Hathaway she shouldn’t remember it at all but she does why is she different to any other female he has fed on through the centuries. Soon he cannot walk away and their connection grows ever stronger but Quill is been hunted and been with him puts Callie in danger can he walk away to keep her safe or will her own bloodline come to the fore to keep them safe.
Enchant the Night by Amanda Ashley … Another great book by Amanda…We have Vampires..born and made…witches..and hunters. This witty, scary, sexy, full of feelings, and a lot of twists and turns book keep me on the edge of my seat…Can’t wait for the next one.
3.5 stars
Callie is an ordinary woman, just trying to go on with her life after her grandmother passes away. When one night she goes out and when she wakes the next morning, she can’t remember how she got home, her head is in a fog. Quill is a Hungarian vampire, who is very old and powerful. He is attracted to Callie and his memory erase doesn’t work on her. While they are getting to know each other, a band of Knights want him killed. They are a secret group that protects humanity from vampires. With Quill being hunted, can he and Callie find their happily ever after?
The beginning was fast but towards the end, I was like just hurry up and end. Not really any sexual situations and a little bit of fighting.
