Stand Alone Prequel to the Eagle Elite Series
In the mafia…only the strong survive.
Joyce loves Luca.
Luca loves Joyce.
Frank loves his family and will do anything to protect it, even if it means taking away his brothers reason for existing.
Falling, only takes one step, one movement of the chess piece, and in Joyce’s fall she took more than just one heart with her. Go back to the … her. Go back to the beginning where the drama of the Elect all starts.
Go back to the first part of the story.
Where true love tried to conquer all.
Where true love…failed.

This was such an heartbreaking and beautiful prequel. I read this book after Elect (book two in the series). It is very good to have this background and it explains a lot of other things that happen in the books. It is a very short story, but it is told so well. You get a complete story in just a few chapters. If you love the Eagle Elite series, you cannot miss out on this prequel!

*** Review of audiobook ***
Holy wow! So much happens in this super quick introduction to what appears to be an exciting organized crime series! Because this audiobook was only 65 minutes long, it did feel rushed to me. A TON is jam-packed, so I was actually confused on several occasions, not knowing whether events were happening on the same day or whether time has sprung ahead. Regardless, everything I did understand was exciting, sexy, suspenseful and unpredictable. Also, unlike most romances, there weren’t just 2 main characters but 3! And best of all, each had their own narrator which I absolutely loved, especially since all the narrators were phenomenal! I most definitely will be reading on to see what happens next!!!
Really intriguing.
This was a short story, a prequel in the Eagle Elite series, and also my first book by this author.
I can say it won’t be my last one.
In its few pages, the book had intrigue, betrayal, sexiness, love and it all made me even more curious about the whole story. This series sounds promising.
*4 Stars*
This was a very short couple of chapters as a novella that I am glad Rachel decided to write. It really helps shed some light on some curiosities I previously had about Trace’s Grandma and the story from back then. Definitely a great little addition to this series.
I listened to the audible version of this story and I enjoyed it a lot. This prequel was full of suspense and betrayal. I enjoyed Joyce and Luca and I hated how Frank went about things, but I can understand how much power promises have when it comes to a mafia family. It was a huge betrayal but it was done out of love in a twisted way. This prequel definitely leaves me wanting more of this series.
I decided to focus on the romance part because in books that’s what makes me happy and Luca he knows, he’s not stupid that Miss thang thang Joyce has been ogling him, “I knew she’d been staring at me, how the hell could I not? There wasn’t a moment I wasn’t aware of her.” Luca he’s a simple man, and when he worries that isn’t enough to keep his woman, Joyce has to reassure her man what she likes, “anytime you can have Chinese at your beck and call…” I winked. “Not s***.” Luca is a patient man but when it comes to getting it on with his woman not so much, “I tugged my shirt free of my pants with too much force, then ripped it open, not wasting time with buttons, they clattered to the floor.” Obviously the ending was something I sort of expected as it’s the prequel to Rachel’s hit Mafia series, but it still hurt to see it end that way.
