It was the worst day of my life. I know most people say that about something obviously horrific—a first heartbreak, the discovery of a fatal illness, or the funeral of a loved one—but my situation was a little different. Not only was it my wedding day, but it was also the day I chose to die. Two men. The first, my Master, my captor, and my impossible love. The other, his brother, a mafioso I was … brother, a mafioso I was meant to ensnare and ruin.
If I had any hope of living a normal life reunited with my family, I had to make a choice.
End my old life as I knew it and start fresh, or take down the monsters that hunted me and haunted my Master.
In the end, the decision was never really mine to make. Because Alexander Davenport would come to claim me even in death.
** The Enslaved Duet is a standalone dark romance duet about Cosima Lombardi from The Evolution of Sin Trilogy. Enthralled must be read before Enamoured.**
more
Besotted, Bewitched, Captivated, and Charmed are all words that are synonymous with the word Enamoured which is something I am in regard to this author, and her books. Yet, none of them completely do justice considering that this book/duet was EVERYTHING I wanted and more. To say that she had mesmerized me before would have been a gross understatement. I devour her words as if they are the air I need to breathe. I was waiting on bated breath for this conclusion since the first part ended on a WHOPPER of a cliffhanger. Despite knowing that it would work out for the characters because they were married in a certain scene in the Evolution of Sin Trilogy, I still needed to know how it came to be because goodness knows their journey had been anything but smooth.
This conclusion gave me all the answers that I had as well as some pretty heartbreaking scenes. One of the things I loved the most about this is that this author again gave me a strong female character to show that just because she is a woman doesn’t mean that she isn’t equal or just as strong despite her feminity. That is powerful to me. Alexander. sweet Lord. That man. he, just like their relationship is complex. While he might seem intimidating, and often is, there is still a sense of vulnerability in him that he only lets Cosima see. Even when gruff he still shows that he loves fiercely enough that he could move mountains if he had to because it is embedded into the very template of who he is.
The storyline was complex. It tied in a whole other series with ease and filled in all the other blanks. It was balanced between suspense, ending threats, steamy times and finally a fantastic Happily Ever After. I am looking forward to the next book (BOY, am I EVER) since both of those characters are long overdue for it.
For all the people that are on the fence about reading this because of the negative reviews due to the delay in the release of this book following Enamoured then I say let it go. Real-life happens and it should NEVER get in the way of getting lost in a book with fantastic characters that are long overdue for love. If you then you miss out on an epic love story and the masterful words of this fantastic author.
OH HOW THE STORY OF THESE TWO CONNECTED TO ME ON ANOTHER LEVEL!
I loved it. I loved it so much I’ve been walking around thinking of these two for another two weeks after i finished reading the book, finishing the duet as well.
I loved how I could dive into Alexander’s head in this book, seeing the way his thoughts go through his head, understanding and loving him more.
I loved how despite the hollow in her chest Cosima kept going, kept surviving, kept being a silent hero in her family.
The darkness and intensity, the twists and turns in the plot, how other characters were so interesting to have in the scenes it made you crave for their own books ( which according to Giana we are gonna get… YAY), all of this was the perfect mix for me.
Rooting for these two, i found myself frustrated at the circumstances yet loving how hard it came to them, because in the end the peace they got was honored and was truly seen for what it was unlike those without hardships in their lives who blindly took it for granted
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THOSE WHO LOVE DARK SUSPENSEFUL THRILLING ROMANCES TO READ THIS DUET! THE FIRST BOOK CALLED ‘ ENTHRALLED’
Giana Darling was trying to kill me. Enamoured planned my death by never ending shocks. This whole story is an extravagant festival of dark sensuality, jaw dropping secrets and all consuming love. My heart was a puppet and Giana made it dance, cry, faint, swoon and break with her genius writing.
Enamoured was one of my most anticipated read in recent times. Cosima and Alexander ‘s story ended at a massive cliffhanger in Enthralled. And I was dying to know what will happen. Giana did not disappoint me. This story has so many layers and interconnected compartments. This story has dual POV and that was really important. Because I needed to feel this epic journey from both side. Alexander is finally coming at terms with his feelings about Cosima. And Cosima is trying to find herself and rebuild herself after the devastating events in England. The story has so many factors obstructing and interfering. The ancient corrupt, dirty, obnoxious and power hungry Order of Dionysus. The twisted royalty of England the celebrity fashion world. The mafia. And above all Cosima and Alexander’s own feelings. Time is going to test them and Giana is going to drag them to through hell. I was cursing out loud in frustration because as soon as I was swooning and melting in the glorious Master Sub magic, she would do something to make everything bleak and painful. But that made this story more enticing, more tragic and more special.
Cosima Lombardi is a goddess. Inside out beautiful, this woman can rule the world with her incredible strength, compassionate heart big like the ocean and perseverance that would put most powerful men to shame. The horrors she suffered enforced the hardness of her heart. I felt nauseous and enraged with all the degradation and torture she suffered. And yet she is the most gorgeous, courageous and forgiving woman ever. A pillar of strength for everyone in her life and a source of golden light to every dark soul, including her Master Xan. My heart was breaking for this utterly dominating and completely infuriating man. His demons are no less savage than Cosima’s. He may lead the life of the riches but he is empty and cold inside. Only his feelings for Cosima made him alive. And Giana wrote a lyrical description of how he fell in love with slave piece by piece. His brutality and cruelty is directed to anyone trying to harm her. His need of dominance finds a vessel in Cosima. This chemistry is really indescribable. I was speechless, breathless and mesmerized with the power of the emotions. The words flowed effortlessly like a dreamy poem in my heart. And I had no choice but surrender to the raw beauty of their explosive passion. It was the steamiest and sexiest relation I read this year. Dominance and Submission is tricky but god help me, Giana is a champion of the game. Pleasure and pain mixed and balanced to create pure ecstasy and love.
Enamoured is the very definition of true love. Timeless, defying everything, all consuming, soul deep and intense to the extreme. Giana’s words hold my heart and soul as hostage. Every angsty moment, every sweet memory and every little twist has left a permanent mark. Be ready to worship at the alter of Master Alexander and be enamoured by Cosima.
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
ENAMOURED by GIANA DARLING is book 2 in The Enslaved Duet series. This continues the story of
Cosima Lombardi and Alexander Davenport, the Earl of Thornton so you really should read the previous book Enthralled first to fully enjoy this one. In addition the is a spin off of The Evolution of Sin Series which added to my enjoyment of this book but did feel you could make this book without that series if you wanted too. This book picks up where we left off in the previous book.
Cosima had risked everything to escape from Alexander who was associated with The Order of Dionysus and his father who was the Duke of Greythorn. Cosima had the feeling that she had no other choice. Of course Alexander wants her back but he has been making those pay that had ruined what they had.
Ms. Darling’s writing is always a must read for me.
I am actually quite sad that it’s over. What a ride. A dark, dirty and deliciously violent ride. I don’t know why it took me so long to read this duet but the toll it had on my body was intense.
The second book of the Enslaved Duet, this is the finale of Alexander and Cosima’s brutally intense love story. This might not be the last time we see them again but I miss them. I’ve been so consumed by their words, their passion and their love for so long, I’m finding it difficult to adapt to my reality again.
This book gave me so many feelings. SO. MANY. I was so overwhelmed by how I felt, the words seemingly jumping off the pages and tattooing itself on my soul. The darkness I’ve craved for so long, greedy at the attention it was getting.
While this book wasn’t as depraved and dark as the first book, it wasn’t without its twists and turns. There was blood, lust, sex and so much possessive affection, I couldn’t stand it. I love this authors words so much. And I love her ability to make us fall twice as hard for her side characters as much as the main ones. I’m excited to see what this author has in store for us and I can’t wait to read more.
This was an epic, beautiful, dramatic, romantic and steamy finally to Alexander and Cosima’s duet! Their story and love were so captivating and addictive. The connection of their souls and chemistry is undeniable. I loved them together and I loved them apart. For both they are so strong, determined, powerful and badass yet vulnerable. They are both so perfect, perfect characters and perfect for each other, and so gorgeous!! I loved reading about them so much! I also loved the secondary characters, like Giselle, and Dante and Sebastian (I can not wait for the last two’s series!!) Everything about this book is perfection!! This story is dark, twisted, sexy, captivating, beautiful, raw, emotional, romantic, intense, suspenseful, action-packed and so so well written (as usual) and I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend it!!
Ok, I have to admit. I’m an easy target. A sitting duck. As a reader, I’m easily drawn into a good and old cliché romance plot.
But don’t get me wrong: I don’t enjoy predictability. I love having to wonder what’s gonna happen on the very next page. And that’s exactly what @gianadarlingauthor does to the reader on the Enslaved Duet.
For starters, her prose is unbe-FREAKING-lievable. Her writing style is so immersing that it’s a struggle to stop reading it. I found myself so lost in the story that I would forget the world around me. In addition, I don’t think there are many books that I’ve highlighted so many passages as in the ones in this duet.
Alexander (oh, my… ) is a strong alpha who was raised to be a heartless man. And, boy, does he take it seriously. He is implacable when it comes to having his desires fulfilled. He won’t stop until he gets what he wants. There’s a turning point in his life, though, the moment he meets Cosima, and that’s when he realizes the life he’s lived is about to change for good.
Cosima is a fierce and captivating character, who’s got the ability to touch the soul of everyone she gets involved with, whether romantically or not. She goes through unimaginable things and still manages to see good through the shell of evil worn by Alexander, once she realizes that like two lost pieces in a puzzle, they fit together with perfect and amazing chemistry.
Giana Darling was able to create characters that are dark and twisty, but also beautiful. Even though this book might bring some triggers, if you get past this and connect to the characters to a point where you’re able to see through the darkness and enjoy the dynamics between them, this is definitely gonna be an experience you won’t be able to forget.
I don’t think I’ll be able to recuperate anytime soon from this story myself.
This is one that’ll stick with me for a great while.
I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves dark romance delivered on a silver platter.
All the stars for you, Giana! This is a masterpiece!
I was absolutely desperate to start this book following Enthralled because that cliffhanger absolutely killed me! This book is thick but I was excited by the prospect of getting to be surrounded by Xan and Cosima for awhile. The steam factor that these two have is out of this world!
My greatest appreciation for this book was the growth that the characters experienced and the depth of deceit and calculation behind those attempting to destroy Alexander and Cosima’s relationship. Though they have been apart for years, Cosima can never deny that Xan is her true master and the lengths she will go to protect all those that she loves. Even the growth and the ability to overcome his adversaries had Alexander realizing the depth of his emotions for Cosima. I was in tears at his realization!
I was on edge until the very end and found myself feeling overwhelmed, anxious, excited, happy, and thirsting for more characters from Cosima and Alexander’s world. I am all too eager to delve into Giselle and Sinclair’s love story next!
Sexy and delicious this is the definition of perfection a dark and wicked treat..
Giana makes you love the dark so much her writing is masterpiece this book was everything 10 stars!
This duet is dark, suspenseful and full of twists and turns. I can say it was enjoyable and I truly thought it would be a 5 star read but I felt the abuse Cosi suffered after her last kidnapping was excessive and unnecessary. Overall though it was a good book.
Twisted, and Emotional! 4.5 Stars
This is the second book in the Enslaved Duet, and the conclusion to Alexander, and Cosima, epic love story. Forced apart in order to keep herself, and her Master alive, Cosima’s had to move on with her life, and try and put the pieces of her shattered heart back together. When Alexander comes to claim back his wife, Cosima has tried to forget him, but their connection in undeniable, and their souls are forever connected. This book was amazing, so well written, and the characters captivated me, and their chemistry exploded from the pages. This book is dark, depraved, intense, twisted, action-packed, suspenseful, dramatic, gripping, raw, emotional, and steamy. I highly recommend this duet. 4.5 Star
This is an epic conslusion for Alexander and Cosima’s story! Deliciously dark, full of unexpected twists and turns, but also filled with love and passion. This story is intense and tragic, but beautiful nonetheless. You can expect moments, when your heart will skip a beat and you will be shocked. But you can also be sure, that every twisted situation is rewarded by love so deep that you’ll feel it yourself.
Brilliant!
The conclusion to Alexander and Cosima’s love story is here, the Master is back and he’s done waiting to get his beauty back. We see the toll that their separation has taken on our fearsome twosome. Just when I thought nothing else could come between them old foes come back to haunt them. One thing that hasn’t changed is the passion between them. Cosima is a warrior and survivor and she comes out fighting with a determination that is matched by Alexander. This was an intense dark raw gritty read but it fit the characters perfectly.
Giana, Giana, Giana what have you done to me! I am so over my head right now trying to figure out how to write my review because I am over the moon with this book.
It was so intense, so full of suspense and angst that had me literally sitting at the edge of my seat.
Cosima and Alexander were one heck of an amazing couple. I sympathized for them because of all the tribulation and struggles they went through just to be together. I mean, I think Cosima has been one of the strongest heroine’s I’ve read recently with what she went through and endured throughout her life of hell with the Order. But she managed to stay strong and be positive and I loved that about her.
Alexander, for as much as he claimed he didn’t have a heart and only a black heart, he truly did manage to find within himself to admit that he was deeply in love with Cosima and there wasn’t anything this man wouldn’t do for her. He cheated death several times for her and went through some hell himself all to protect the love of his life.
The Enslaved duet is totally on my top list of reads for 2019!
Thank you Giana Darling for giving us such a great story that will stay with me for a long time.
All I can say is wow. This duet was so intense that at times I almost couldn’t read I was so frightened of what was going to happen next. Other times I literally forgot to do anything I meant to get done because I had to keep reading. This is definitely a dark read. It’s not for the faint of heart. You laugh, cry, and feel so intensely for Cosima and Alexander. Not to mention the secondary characters like Dante. Although, Dante tends to steal the show when he’s in a scene. I cannot wait to read what happens to the rest of the family Sebastian, Ellena, Dante, ECT. Best dark read I’ve read in a long time.
Holy Moley!
This was totally worth the wait. I know it killed some of us with how long it took for this book to come out but, DAMN, I honeslty think it was worth it. This book jumps us right back into the world of Cosima and Alexander.
Giana Darling!! My goodness she doesn’t hold back on us with Alexander. If you think that Master Alexander is going to go soft, which for a second I thought he might, you sure don’t know what to come for you. He is tasty and passionate as ever and most definitely still a bit of a jackass to anyone who displeases him.
As for our Cosmia, she is stronger and smarter than ever. And I thank god for that! I am so happy how much growth we’ve seen in her throughout this book alone.
I don’t really want to go into to much detail, but I really enjoyed this book. It’s dark, twisty, angsty, and full of surprises. I couldn’t stop reading it. I love how relatable Giana Darling makes her characters. It’s like parts of the book where they said something or did something that I’ve done or been through before and it made me have a better understanding of our main characters. One final thing I need to touch on it the amount of tension this book caused me to have. At times I thought I might burst with the amount of tension I was holding in my body while reading some parts. On several occasions I wanted to scream. I simply just couldn’t take it. What a great ending to two characters I’ve truly grown to love. Solid stars!
I received and eARC in exchange for an honest review.
4.5 Stars – And the dark knight became a hero.
Giana really knows how to capture me from the start with her fabulous writing, but as with all her other books, sometimes she goes a bit wild and I get lost in her words and thrown off course of the story.
I loved the dark and cruel, as well as the powerful dynamic between Cosima and Alexander in the first book Enthralled, so I was very excited to get my hands on the conclusion to this dark story. Though, while there were some darkish parts in this second book, it had a generally lighter feel to it, with hardly any cruel scenes. I didn’t expect this sudden change of feel in a story which threw me for a loop.
I wasn’t sure how to rate this book because I really loved most of it but I felt that the secondary characters interrupted the flow of the main story too much. I mean, I absolutely loved the secondary characters and I can’t wait to read all their own stories but I really wanted Cosima and Alexander’s story to have all the focus like it did in the first book.
Also, some things seemed rushed and only explained instead of experienced, whereas other things were drawn out and too detailed. For such a complex, powerful and secret society, I was surprised at how easily they got the Order out of their way.
Of course this was a well written and fabulous story, and I loved for Cosima and Alexander to finally have their happily ever after, but I just loved the first book more. What can I say?! The devil in me likes to see some suffering and pain. Sorry, not sorry. =P
To be honest, after the first book, I wasn’t sure if Alexander really deserved Cosima and I was unsure on how he could atone for what he’d done to her. But in this book, I felt like he really learned his lessons, and their gravitational pull towards each other wasn’t to ignore. So naturally, Cosi and Alex belonged together.
I was very happy about the cameos from characters of The Evolution of Sin Trilogy. I was giddy with excitement when Sinclair appeared, I blushed and felt hot around Dante, and I was very happy about Salvatore being a part of it. I can’t wait to read Dante’s and Sebastian’s stories, especially after this book because it gave me so much to speculate about their books and I love these characters more and more with everything new I learn about them.
I got to know Giselle, Elena, Sebastian, Sinclair, and all the other characters I already met in the author’s previous books, from a different side. I felt sympathy towards a character I didn’t think I could ever like one little bit. But Cosima’s big and loving heart showed me the cracks and depths of people I thought shallow and selfish.
There was a bit of an up and down in this book. When I thought there was an ending in sight, it took a turn for better or worse right after. It felt a bit jumpy because of it, as if the author wanted to put more into the story and kept adding and adding without paying attention on how it flowed and fit together. Talk about being all over the place, there was just so much happening.
As I mentioned above, this book was different than the first. It wasn’t as dark and showed Cosima’s development into a strong and independent woman, still plagued by heartbreak and worry for her loved ones and still careless and blind to people who only saw her as a plaything. She’s a shell, void of all the things she felt when she was with Alexander. Their reunion was bittersweet and took longer than I expected for him to last without her. I really liked that it wasn’t rushed and that the story was woven into a construct of family, friends, enemies, intrigues, love, hate, and not to forget the scorching hot sex scenes. Although I was missing some of the cruelty from the first book, I know that it would have held Cosima back to grow like she did in this book and form an even tighter bond to her family, friends and her husband.
5 stars but deserves more!!!
O.M.G…. this book will tear you down, only to build you up again and then break you all over again. Never in my life have a read such a dark book and I’ve read some pretty dark ones. But I friggen loved it! This one is dark, dangerous and will leave your heart palpitating. Cosima is my superhero, I could only dream of having her strength and Alexander is every woman’s darkest fantasy. Giana Darling’s writing style and the world she creates is simply mesmerizing. Bottom line, I want more Alexander and Cosima.
This book has been a long time coming and it was definitely worth the wait. Giana’s words flow over the page like silk over marble. The descriptive, fathomless depth of her words make this book a joy to read.
The conclusion of this duet is a richly dark story, full of darkness and light and jeopardy and redemption. I’m giving nothing of the plot line away; suffice to say it does the first book absolute justice and the entire story is a joy to read. Five gloriously brilliant stars.
Giana does it again!! I was pulled, yet again, into the crazy dichotomy that is Cosima and Alexander.
Two parts of a whole, being drawn together as if there was no other choice. As if there was no other possibility. For them, this is true. This is fate.
The story wraps you up like a warm blanket.
The richness and complexity of the story is eloquently written.
The Characters and their emotions are tangible.
Saying I loved it doesn’t do it justice. I lived it.
