Emmerson if is a woman who has tried to start again after losing her happy life with a loving husband that she was more than content with. But her reboot does not go quite as planned and when her new boyfriend is killed in front of her she decides to relocate and start over once again. She relocates to Birch Harbor and becomes friends with Tatum, from the first book in the series, along with some other people who are not as nice and caring. Will Emmerson be able to find happiness and contentment with a new life in Birch Harbor or will things follow her her too? In the end Emmerson will have to make choices about what she truly wants.
I received a free ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review. My opinions are all my own.
A place you can call home. A place that heartache and love for hand in hand. This place is both a HEA town, and a town of heartbreak. These women are so strong and resilient and never give up no matter what happens. I love these widows so much!!
Emmerson is living the life. Then it takes a turn for the worst and secrets are unveiled. A great story with heartbreak and redemption for this widow, with the past widows making appearances.
Short, quick read. I enjoyed the story but would have loved a little more detail. Emmerson was a woman whose life had been turned upside down and took a while to settle down. The attraction she felt with Sully made her life better, and I was happy for her. Danger kept the excitement going, and I liked the ending. Birch Harbor sounded like a nice small town, and I look forward to reading more in this series.

In my mind I’ve named Nancy George’s Widows of Birch Harbor series “quickie romances”; they take 20-30 minutes to read, they contain the fundamentals of a romance book and they come with satisfying happy-ever-after endings.
Well, this tale certainly held some unexpected twist and turns! Not only does Emmerson Patrick’s husband die in suspicious circumstances but the next man to catch her eye has her involved in an incident that both shocks and scares her so much that she flees to a small town to hide out – in this case, Birch Harbor. Even in Birch Harbor, life is not as quiet as Emmerson had hoped, and a final revelation means Emmerson needs to make choices about the direction her life will take.
My advice is just to jump in and start reading. Writing any more will likely result in spoilers, and that would ruin your reading experience.
This is my first boom by this author and I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I cant wait to read the rest of the books in this series. I enjoyed how I was pulled into the story from the beginning. It is a well written story with great attention to details. The characters made the story feel realistic and kept me engaged to the last page. I highly recommend this book.
This is book three in the Widows of Burch Harbor series. Emmerson feels like her life is good, her and her husband, Denver live comfortably with his pawn shop business and they are happy. But things start changing and so does her husband. Their lifestyle becomes richer and then one day, Denver is dead. This is the beginning of the twist that Emmerson’s life takes as she moves on after her husband passes away. A great shorter length story that makes for a great escape. Enjoy!

OMG! I can’t even come up with the right words to describe this incredibly suspenseful story. Drama, romance, and twists and turns you didn’t see coming. Highly highly recommend! A very quick read, I finished it in less than 3 hours but such a detailed story. Written so well there’s not a dull or boring spot in the story.

Danger echoes from start to finish.
Emmerson was satisfied in her marriage to husband Denver, a pawn broker. They had a comfortable life, paid their bills, enjoyed their lives. Business takes a sudden turn, and Denver has more money to spend and seems happier.
Although she wonders at the changes, Emmerson hesitates to ask what is behind these changes. Then she finds herself in front of a funeral director- with services already paid. She is smart enough to remove herself from the partnership Emmerson never knew Denver was a part of, and she mourns in shock.
Finally surfacing from her grief encircled existence, Emmerson encounters Sully and an intense romance. More horror leaves her once again grief stricken and in fear for her life.
Moving to Birch Harbor, she settles down. No happy romance ahead here, as she discovers a cold and manipulative daughter to her lover. Some situations are not worth the trouble.
More strange twists lead to links with other Birch Harbor friends, and not all are happy, fond memories.
Birch Harbor is a strong KU village of women who are damaged, yet remarkable.
All I can say is give me the next one please – I can barely wait!

Emmerson was a devoted wife to Denver. When he suddenly took on partners, she didn’t question him. But when he dies, she accepted their offer and sold her share of the business – they were creepy, and she was certain that they were involved in illegal dealings. For a year, she sits home by herself, until she decides that she needs a makeover – for herself, for her hair, for her life. Soon after, she runs into Sully, who’s retired from the “business” now, and they begin a relationship, although she questions herself every step of the way. When he’s murdered in front of her, she realizes that she’s not safe, and leaves for Birch Harbor. She tries to have a normal life there, and eventually becomes friends with Tatum (from the first book). I really loved this book – short enough to read in an afternoon, and the story moves right along. There’s a huge plot twist near the end that I never expected. I like Emmerson’s character, and how she transformed herself when she had no other choice. I’m really looking foward to the rest of this series.
