“I never considered freckles and red hair to be an enticement but with those connections, the remaining Chadwick sisters have become quite the prospect for the bachelor about town. I flatter myself with the knowledge, however, that they will never be truly accepted by the ton. Not with such displeasing and unladylike temperaments.” – Lady Hampton, Duchess of Bromley. With a duke and a viscount for … viscount for brothers-in-law, Emma has found herself subject to increasing attention from the many eligible men of the ton. A new experience for this redheaded, freckled bluestocking, who would rather be doing something else—anything else—than dancing with men who are only interested in her connections.
Marriage is not for her.
At least it was not. Until a certain Lord Radcliff—and a true rake—decided to accidentally ruin her. Well, perhaps neither of them quite envisioned ending up twined in such a mess that the only way to save her reputation—and that of her younger sister—was to marry the man.
The Earl of Radcliff is a practical stranger to her but she is prepared to make the best of her situation. After all, she is nothing if not a quick learner. Perhaps she can learn to be a successful wife and countess.
Unfortunately, the earl is hiding a few secrets. She’s not sure what they are but one of those secrets is causing a strong hatred of the country, and that just will not do. Emma hates London and is prepared to do anything to remain in the country with her family and friends. Somehow, while dealing with all the new adventures and, um, desires a marriage can bring, she must persuade her new husband that the country life is for them.

This book was different from the two firsts, Love arrives in Emma and Morgan’s life once they were married.
It is a kind of marriage of convenience trope, after finding themselves in a compromising situation, they have very few other choices than marriage.
They have no anger toward the other, even if they were kind of forced to wed, they want to make it work, but for it, they will have to trust one another, not an easy task when someone hide a secret.
Morgan is quite a rake, he tries to avoid attachment and going back to the country for it released his worst fears, but he is no bad man, he just wants to appear strong for his new bride.
Emma was labeled bluestocking because of her sisters’ way in life, but she is not one, she goes from one hobby to another but none held her enough to perform it better, she feels useless.
So it is their journey to find in the other what they would have wished for their intended.
They are good together, Emma smoothing Morgan’s pain and Morgan praising her attempts to new activities.
A cute romance which will grow slowly with time.

Marriage is not for her. At least not the sort without more than a touch of romance & now she’s seen how happy & in love her sisters are she wants the same..
The two unmarried Chadwick sisters are at an assembly & Emma is being pursued by Mr Bartholemew so she goes outside for some air. Lord Morgan Radcliff, Earl of Whitehurst is a true rake but doesn’t dally with married women & whilst trying to hide from one finds himself on a window ledge, he spies a hay cart which Emma drags under the window but when Morgan jumps the cart breaks & he lands on top of Emma only to be discovered by Mrs Chadwick & friends, so the only way save her reputation and that of her younger sister is to marry.
From the first page this delightful enchanting novella had me smiling. This is the third in the series & whilst it could be read as a standalone book I’d recommend reading the others. I’m a fan of the author & she’s a must read. I’m loving the Bluestocking Brides & the series just gets better. The characters are well developed & the pace of the story kept me reading. Emma loves the countryside but Morgan wants to remain in London, he has a secret & it takes Emma falling for him to share it. I’m so looking forward to Catherine’s story, the Chadwick girls are a delight
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
This was a another winner about the Chadwick sisters! Emma Chadwick’s older sisters have now married so she really doesn’t feel the want or need to marry & maybe her mother will leave the marriage matching alone now – probably not!
Emma never thought she would fall in love & has never found anyone to draw her interest until she attempted to escape the heat & noise of the ballroom & ran in to Lord Morgan Radcliffe, Earl of Whitehurst. Morgan was also attempting to escape; however, he was escaping an unwanted encounter with Mrs. Newton. Emma’s attempt to rescue him fails when he bounces out of the straw cart directly on top of her & this took place in front of her mama & others in attendance. Well, they are both faced with scandal or marriage – Morgan & Emma marry? At first they seem to rub along quite well until they discover that Morgan hates the country & Emma loathes London. Will Emma find the secret to Morgan’s hate of the country & persuade him to live there or will Morgan insist they live on London even though he know how she hates the city?
This was a quick read with romance, humor, a little mystery & endearing & fun characters that appear from the two previous books. Emma & Morgan’s romance was a sweet journey to experience as they got acquainted with one another & watch their HEA bloom. I can’t wait to start the next book to read about Catherine & I highly recommend this series & this book to all historical romance readers!
