Emergence, book 1 in the new Sever the Crown series, starts with a bang and keeps on rolling. Used to fighting to survive, Wren is thown into a whole new level of terror. Now people want her and her new friends dead and she wants some answers. The storyline is fast-paced, filled with intrigue, violence, danger, greed and sex. The characters are well-developed and engaging. I can’t wait to see what volume 2 brings!
Wren (the MFC) is a one woman, singing vigilantly. Shes on a set course to kill everyone involved in her mothers murder. Until one night whilst shes tracking one of the men by doing her singing gig she meets Zac a human and a detective who seems to know more about her than hes letting on. In the course of this book her and Zac go on a rescue mission to get Ashe another part of her puzzle about who she is. Which seems to get more and more complicated. This book is definitely an action-packed, joyride with witty, bad*** characters. Loved It. Bring on book 2
Just the absolute best story. It had me captivated from the beginning with the hot steamy scenes. I really enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend it! Everything I like to read about and more. Such a great story I will read again and again. A keeper!!
Wren is working on getting revenge for her mother’s death. She was orphaned very young and raised herself surviving to complete her goal. She runs into a human detective that claims he can help her with her goal. He helps her break Ashe, another vampire out of jail. Since she was orphaned so young, she doesn’t know anything really about being a vampire, sure seems like now is the time for some fast lessons!
I enjoyed the book, it was fast paced, and easy to get into. My only complaint is that it’s too short. lol Then again it’s the first in a series, and I am looking forward to reading the rest when they come out!
This was a thrilling, adventure filled ride from the first word to the last. Wren is a delight, Ashe is fantastic and Zac is a mystery, wrapped in an enigma. It’ll make you hot, it’ll make you laugh, it’ll make you cry and it may even make you want to wring a few necks. It’ll leave you desiring the release of book 2.
Emergence (Sever the Crown) by Mysti Parker , Lindsey R. Loucks , Siren Book Covers is a wonderful story to read. This is a wonderful start to a brand new series that I have loved reading very much. I highly recommend this story to everyone who loves reading about vampires in their stories.

Never a spoiler in my reviews, here’s what I think you need to know: First book a new series, turns out to be engaging and interesting. Starts off a little difficult to get into, but stick with it for a well-told story with likable characters. A few unexpected twists add a little surprise and mystery and you also get your fill of sex, violence, and thrills. If vampire stories are your thing, you don’t want to miss this one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and am providing my honest, unsolicited review.
Wren is such a strong character in perseverance, personality and presence. This is a very intriguing read that is filled with mystery and secrets. There are still several unanswered questions and I cannot wait for the nest books to not only get those answers but to continue Wren’s story. This story is packed with many emotions ranging from love, loss, hate, pain, grief and so much more. The emotions were portrayed so well it is very easy to feel with Wren. This is a very beautiful story.

A fab well written collaboration that had me hooked from the very start! What looks to be a great series is fast paced and full of action , great characters and vampires! I love the kick ass female m/c and cannot wait to read more!
These authors have a great imagination and I enjoyed this story immensely.
Looking forward to reading the next story in this series as it ended on a cliff hanger, the teaser for the next story has kept me interested.
I will be following both of these new to me authors closely now.
Wren is my hero. She is orphaned at the age of 8 not knowing there are other vampires in the world. Wren survives and teaches herself to kill so she can cross names off her list of the people who killed her mother. Enter Zac an enigmatic human detective and Ashe the sinfully sexy vampire and now they are on the run fighting for their lives. This action packed page turner is well written and fast paced. I read it in one day. I definitely recommend it and can’t wait for the next book.
Fantastic Story & Narration Fascinating & Riveting!
Emergence
Sever the Crown, Book 1
By: Mysti Parker, Lindsey R. Loucks
Narrated by: Melissa Schwairy
I loved everything about this book, from Mysti Parker & Lindsey R. Loucks’ writing style to the fascinating story and characters they created to Melissa Schwairy’s fabulous narration. The story is original with interesting and imaginative storylines that captivated my attention from start to end. There is great world building and character development. The characters are likable, easy to relate to and connect with. I adored the lead, Wren, a lone vampire who is on a mission to avenge the brutal murder of her mother. It was always just her and her Mom, she was young when her Mother was killed but she survived on her own because her Mom taught her well. Incognito she performs in a bar under a different identity, Melody Songsmith, she is about to get one of her Mom’s killers but she attracts the attention of another who claims he wants the same as her, to find those responsible for her mother’s death. Wren takes a leap of faith and trusts Zac, she has not been in the know of things and has a lot to learn. She and Zac help get Ashe out of prison, he was falsely accused of two different crimes, someone seriously wanted him locked up. Things get even more weird for Zach and Wren, matching tattoos appear on their wrists. Is this fate, were they destined to be together, she then learns she is destine to more than one mate. Making matters even more complicated she finds out her Mother was the Queen of The Southern Vampire clan, she had gone into hiding with Wren for their safety. Now some is after Wren, the same people who tried to keep her and Ashe apart and possible the same who are responsible for her mother’s death. My guess is Ravena, the now reigning Queen and an Aunt Wren never knew she had. This book is an awesome start to an amazing series, the story is cleverly potted and there is never a dull moment. There is plenty of drama, a bit of angst, some great, snarky humor, action, twists and turns, some thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt moments and some hot romance. Mysti Parker & Lindsey R. Loucks, thank you for this fantastic story, I am looking forward to what comes next for these amazing characters.
I listened to the Audible edition, Melissa Schwairy is a fabulous narrator and voice artist. She brings the characters to life, gives each their own voice and personality, as well as heart and attitude. She does an amazing job portraying the characters, giving them that southern charm and capturing their persona to a tee. She is great with the dialogue and snark too. She is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen
I loved this book, it was fast paced and action packed with a killer conspiracy plot that grabbed my attention right from the beginning, before I knew it I had finished and was desperate for the next book. There were so many twists and turns it keeps you on your toes, and a lot of hidden memories for Wren to recover, and through it all I was left wondering what part Zack was playing, who is he to Wren? I need the next book!! Melissa Schwairy’s narration was wonderful as always.
A vampire, Wren thinks to be alone in the entire universe is on a mission to rid of her mother’s murderers as revenge.. she encounters a human Zac, who enlightens her of vampires community and offers help to achieve her goal and seeks reciprocation help to free a vampire inmate, Ashe… In the process she gets to know that she isn’t just a vampire but a Crown Princess if vampire lot… The author has beautifully created the strong characters and the bond between Ashe and Wren.. The chasing, the betrayal, the kidnapping and ofcourse the secrets will keep u hooked… Have to wait and see what’s in store!!!
Wren is a vampire that doesn’t know others exist. She is also seeking to avenge the murder of her mother. She meets up with a detective named Zac, who hunts rogue vampires. He tells her he can help her find her mother’s killers. Then they break Ashe out of jail. Ashe is a vampire and also one of Wrens five mates. The current vampire queen is after Wren because she is supposed to be the next queen of vampires. So much drama!

3.5 stars****. Wren is a vampire Queen in waiting only she doesn’t know it. Her mother kept her pretty naive about her background before she was murdered by a faction of vampires. Zac is a human detective hunting for rogue vampires. When she meets Ashe, things are starting to make sense that he will be one of her mates. Meanwhile, they are being chased by the army of the current Queen to insure Wren doesn’t get the crown. Nicely written, but not much story advancement as this book is setting up for the next book. Yep! It’s got a cliffhanger!
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book
A great start to this new series.
Wren, a vampire on a mission, plans to rescue Ashe, a vampire with secrets, on the help of Zac, her human pseudo friend. As the story progresses some secrets surface, new enemies arise, and hard truths must be faced head on. Mysti Parker and Lindsey Loucks’ new collaboration Sever the Crown series has high hopes of becoming a fan favorite of readers of paranormal reverse harem romances. Emergence starts out with a bang and keeps the ball rolling over every bum and around every curve, giving a great start to this new series.
I received a free copy of the book from the author. I had the opportunity to review or not.
