This is such an amazing book. I highly recommend it to all. Very well written, wonderful characters you can’t help but love, action-packed and fun.
Now to read the series again!
Emerald Blaze takes so many twists and turns following Catalina Baylor investigating a murder in the Pit (AKA Jersey Village) of Felix Morton who was involved in a partnership trying to reclaim the area for development.
Catalina Baylor and Alessandro Sagredo have had a love hate relationship going since Sapphire Flames (Hidden Legacy #4) because she knows that who ever she marries will have to join House Baylor and Alessandro is the prime of his house but you really need to read the book to where the authors take you through most of the Pit trying to solve the murder.
Now I want to read the whole series again and pick up little dropped hints that you missed the first time you read it.
Even better than the last one! The young adults are grown up and becoming strong. From paperwork to new swamp monsters to heartbreaking revelations, our author do have given us another delight.
Absolutely loved it and can’t wait for the next book!
Every time I think Ilona Andrews can’t up their game, they go and prove me wrong. This book was peak Hidden Legacy. Catalina is such a badass heroine in a way that’s completely unique to herself, and I really enjoyed watching her navigate this new set of challenges. Alessandro has had some major growth, too, and it’s delightful seeing how that’s affected their dynamic. As always, this book was unputdownable and I instantly wanted to go back to the beginning and reread the entire Hidden Legacy series. I loved it.
Loved it. Catalina and Alessandro
Catalina and Alessandro are reunited. Once again he takes on the role of her bodyguard. She has been ordered to take over a case. A prime murdered in the pit. His body impossibly string up in a gruesome display. His business partners, four other primes the suspects. They were tasked with reclaiming pit.
The man who murdered Alessandro ‘s father is targeting Catalina.
What is living in the pit, is a danger to all of humanity. Catalina has to find a way to kill it. The stolen Osiris serum may be the cause.
Fast paced and intense. Love Catalina and Alessandro . They are perfect together.
The Baylor house and family is growing. Their grandmother, is powerful and dangerous. Catalina has a plan to take care of her.
Can’t wait for the next book.
So engaging. The first books, I really loved and that wasn’t different. 🙂
This terrific addition to the series can be read standalone but is much better if you’ve read Sapphire Flames. I love the Baylor family and enjoy each visit with them. Catalina and Alessandro are perfect for each other and saving the world together erases a lot of bad feelings. Action, adventure and love.
Great story! I always read everything Ilona Andrew writes. She never disappoints
There are some authors that even though I know how good they are, I always forget just how good they are until I read a book by them again. This author duo is one. This is the Hidden Legacy series book five and the Catalina Baylor Trilogy book 2, and I can’t tell you how much this book stunned me. First, I adore the characters who have changed since the first book in this trilogy, the plot was very interesting (very unique), and the end was like “Whoa!” There were quite a few secrets revealed with a couple being quite shocking. This is a great addition to the library of these authors, and I can’t wait until another in this series…or really any by this author duo. Highly recommend! I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Catalina and Alessandro are back and can I just say this dynamic duo is beauty in action! I love their loaded banter and innuendos, but seeing these two in action?! Grace, brains, and power packed into deceiving packages…why yes, I’ll grab a tub of popcorn, sit back and enjoy the show! And the simmering embers of their chemistry finally take shape making me super giddy to finally have some resolution on their relationship status!
The Andrews have phenomenal skill with world and character building and it shines in this latest entry. There’s still secrets to unveil, however there’s also plenty to keep the brain engaged…House warfare, magic spells, twisty villains, action packed, thought-provoking battle scenes-just imagine this on tv!-sightings of Nevada and Connor (what can I say? I love those two so much), and the Baylor clan/extended family in full force….oh man, I can’t wait to see what happens next!!!!!
I received an advance reader copy from Netgalley and Avon books. This is my honest review.
Yes!! Love this author and enjoying this series. Though I miss Kate Daniels and Curran.
Ilona Andrews is consistent across all her books. (Or their, since this is a husband and wife writing team…) The characters are well drawn and the world building is exceptional. It feels “real” without an obvious boost from the authors’ hands. I’ve enjoyed watching Cataline grow as she takes over as head of house. Alessandro has a few surprises as well. No spoilers here, but this series is worth picking up.
I love everything by this author. They have never disappointed.
Ilona Andrews has the ability to write in different series/genres without skipping a beat. Their flair for character development and world building has changed the game. Their writing always amazes me.

In this novel we continue the epic love saga of a foreign prime, Alessandro Segrado and emerging prime, Catalina Baylor (sister to Neveda Connor.) Throw the woes of their typical but atypical love affair, a group of psychotic prime assasins and a creature created from the arcane realm and you have a perfext receipe for disaster.
.
Does the dashing duo have the finese to handle all their obsticles and deal with family crisis on both sides? Read on and find out. This is a book you do not want to miss. And of course die hard urban fantasy fans will fall in live with the intricate details of the Andrews writing team!
.
Warning: if you are new to the series please read them in order starting from Connor and Nevadas trilogy. Like I said. Very detailed. Very intricate but worth all the swooning.
.
5 stars and a tip of my Nerd Girl hat!! Can’t wait for the next book in the series.

I keep readying this book as I wait for the final one in the trilogy. Love the characters and the magic!
/5 /5
I’ve postponed this review for a while because I needed a few days to survive my book hangover. After finishing this one, I didn’t want to come to terms with the fact that we won’t get book 3 until 2022. This was nowhere near as exciting as Sapphire Flames, but we finally got some of the best Alessandro scenes and I’m not mad about it.
Finding Ilona Andrews in the beginning of 2021 was the most pleasant surprise of my year. I still can’t get over these characters. Still can’t get the books out of my head and I don’t think I ever will. Went as far as asking my husband to name our kids after some of these characters. Swear to you it’s going to happen. I want my girls or boys to have a chance to read this and understand my obsession.
Did Alessandro top Rogan? Yeap. I think he did. Kidding. I don’t know who I love more. Same goes for Nevada or Catalina, I think I’ll never be able to choose. Now, let’s wait I guess…
Absolutely flawless. Another fantastic book in a fantastic series. LOVED IT!
This was hard to rate. I’ve been reading Ilona Andrews’ books for years now. I’ve always loved the dry humor from the characters, as well as the world building and creativity. Emerald Blaze had those qualities, but there were some things that really frustrated me and that I couldn’t get around.
1. Catalina. I loved the Catalina that we knew in the first two books. While I understand she had to make up certain appearances for certain people, what I don’t understand is why the authors gave her a complete personality makeover. I liked that she had been on the shy side, introverted, quirky, and a bit insecure. She can still be a strong character with those traits, but they’re all but gone now. And where are the flaws? Any flaws? Did they turn her into a bad ass Mary Sue?! It seems like all of Andrews’ main characters Kate, Nevada, now Catalina are becoming indistinguishable. No one can beat them or outsmart or overpower them, and these characters know it. Also, did Catalina get her MBA and possibly a law degree since the last book and we not know it? It sure sounds like it when she talks (not to mention when would she have found the time to study?). I will say that I love the evolution of Alessandro’s character. I found him to be enduring and relatable. Some things were a little TOO convenient, but hey.
2. Detail overload, information dump. It sort of took away from the flow of the story.
3. Plot holes. I had to go back and reread a few things because I thought I was losing it.
4. How is it that the egotistical Primes were not worried about ANY favoritism from the new “Deputy”? Heck, I wouldn’t be cool with it.
I think that’s it. Hopefully the next book addresses some things. I may be tempted to drop the series, which is sad because all of her villain” are so interesting!
Ilona Andrews never fails to provide a book I love. This newest book was one of my favorites in this series. Another 5 star read!
