One night changed an entire town.Ten years ago, I left Hawk Valley. I never planned to return. Not to the regrets. The bitter memories. The guilt. My baseball career gave me both the excuse and the money I needed to start over. Then my mom called, and I found myself headed back to the one place I swore I wouldn’t step foot again.Meeting Delilah wasn’t part of the plan. Falling in love with her … plan. Falling in love with her adorable son was even less so. And yet, what’s brewing between us is too intense to be denied. The unexpected passion is almost enough to distract us from the crumbling of both our worlds.
But even as the sparks fly, someone is waiting in the shadows to burn it all down.

Ember is my first read by Emma Renshaw. I can say this I am going back for more. Ember is emotional, healing and a feel it in your gut read. I loved every moment of this one. Delilah has this amazing heart. I love how she takes in her cousins baby from day one and raises him as her own without a single thought. The bond between Delilah and her son is amazing. She is sweet and protective. Gunner has returned to his hometown after years of being away for reasons and is drawn back to for his mom. Gunner is so sweet and caring with his mom and Delilah’s son. I love the chemistry between Gunner and Delilah. They just fit so well together. You feel the love grow between them throughout this whole read. Ember is such a beautiful read that I couldn’t put down and stole a little piece of me.
Ember by Emma Renshaw is a spectacular read with an interesting dynamic between its main love interest. Delilah and Gunners heartbreaking pasts and how they deal with their shared trauma together, Gunner with his bonfire accident and Delilah with having to raise an abandoned baby that she hasn’t legal made hers yet, was so well written. This author truly knows how to capture the chemistry between two characters. I love how they like eachother but they take their time with the relationship. It might’ve been a slowburn but it was a great one. The best read this year for sure.
Wow. Emma has surpassed all of my expectations with this beautifully balanced story about love and loss. Delilah’s beautiful heart made her easy to fall in love with and had me rooting for her and Gunnar from the start. Gunnar is a man I’d LOVE to know! The way he cares, and sacrifices, for those he loves is truly inspiring! I laughed, I cried, and I fell in love with every part of Ember!! It is Emma’s best one yet and a you don’t want to miss out!
WOW…from the ugly cry prologue, to the suspenseful, romantic and intense middle, to the HEA epilogue…I loved every minute of Ember, written by author Emma Renshaw!
I loved the characters, the storyline, and the smooth flow of this book! There were several characters in this story, but they all had their perfect place in it. The main characters, Gunner (an MLB player), Delilah (a single mom and chef/cook for her parents’ restaurant/bed & breakfast), and Tucker (Delilah’s 8 year old boy), were so well-written! This was a kind of a slow “burn” storyline, with several outlying factors, characters, and events. There was some sexual “heat” in this. I really, really liked this book of love and loss! 4.5 burning embers from me! I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
4.5 Home run Stars! My first read by this author and I’m hooked! I loved it! Gunner and Delilah’s chemistry and banter is hot and sweet. Their storyline will grab you from the prologue and you won’t be able to put it down. Can’t wait to read more from this new to me author.
Great start to a new series. From start to finish, I was completely engrossed. Emma Renshaw created a strong bunch of lead and secondary characters. Gunner is a total book boyfriend. Loved how he connected with Delilah and Tucker from the start. Can’t wait to experience the rest of the Burn series. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC received via NetGalley.
This was one sweet read I enjoyed since first page! It’s one of those good books that will leave you smiling. I knew from the synopsis that this book was going to be fabulous, and I can tell you that I was not disappointed, starting with the cover… Fire… I love this author’s words and as usual, she delivered an amazing story.
I can honestly say this hero stole my heart!!! And Delilah was the kind of heroine I love to read about. Tuck was my favorite character, this kid was so sweet!
A great start for a new series, can’t wait to read the next stories.
There are so many feels wrapped up in this book that is so well written. Ember is a story that will make you believe in fate and that happy endings are possible for everyone.
First of all, the title is brilliant. Ember is not only a title, but it is also a theme that carries throughout the story.
The story begins ten years in the past when Gunner was eighteen and tragedy strikes. A bonfire accident kills and hurts several people, including Gunner and his best friend, changing the course of the so many lives that fateful night. Gunner doesn’t step back into his hometown for over a decade due to this accident, but he does go on to fulfill his and his best friends dream of playing MLB, but at what cost? Losing friends, harding ever seeing his mother, living with regret, feelings of loss. When he returns home Gunner knows he has a lot to make up for, what he didn’t expect was to feel a burning attraction for a single mother, Delilah and her son, Tucker. He has a lot on his plate, moving back to focus on his mother’s health, trading to a new team, making amends. Does he have time for a relationship?
Delilah isn’t Tucker’s biological mother, but she has raised him from day one, the unfortunate part, she hasn’t made it legal. Her cousin abandoned Tucker after birth and Delilah has been raising Tucker since. Delilah has been there for every bruise, scrap, late night sickness, etc… Tucker doesn’t know any difference and except for the nine months he was carried, Delilah is his mother. Unfortunately, her cousin says she now wants him back. This is all takes place when Gunner comes to town and guess who Tucker’s favorite baseball player is? Gunner. Luckily, Tucker has a distraction while Delilah can deal with her cousin, but who will distract her while the ember of lust burns within her over the hot baseball player?
Their attraction is instant, but their relationship is slow burning and grows organically. Gunner isn’t in town looking for love and Delilah isn’t looking for someone to jump in and out of their lives given her situation. Both of them know the stakes of the game and don’t want to incinerate in them. Their passion boils slowly, but it almost seems inevitable that it will ignite no matter what they do.
Ember is beautiful how it grapels with pain, loss, grief, and love.
Emma has done it again…I ugly cried, laugh, and felt angry and that was just in the very beginning …. a beautiful love that survives the guilt from the past, Broken lives, and addictions..this is a must read
My heart hurts for Gunner, grief is one of the most difficult things to overcome. It takes a lot of strength to return to your home town after tragedy. When Gunner returns to his home town the last thing he expects is to meet the girl of his dreams. I liked that this was not an instalove. Delilah and Gunners relationship evolved organically, it was true and deep. They help each other through some difficult times. The storyline was great and I loved the twist at the end. Really a great book .
I will start by saying I absolutely loved this book. I loved the characters and the emotions. Starting with the epilogue, you had raw emotion going through your whole body. Every character was unique in how they dealt with pain and loss but beautifully came together as a family to process the pain. While reading the story from the beginning I was cheering on Gunner and Delilah. I loved how they helped each other through the pain of life’s twists and turns. Emma has a beautiful gift of writing that will make you feel as though you are a part of the story. I felt butterflies the way Gunner would talk and look at Delilah, my heart skipped a beat the way he loved Tuck right away, and the way he loved his mom was just beautiful. This book will have you crying, swooning, and laughing throughout. If you are looking for a beautiful love story, then this is a must-read!
Emma Renshaw hit a grand slam with Ember. She had me laughing, crying, swooning and sitting on the edge of my seat. You couldn’t ask more from an author and Emma proves, yet again, that she is at the top of her game!
