This is a dark mafia romance. It can be read as a stand alone but is recommended to read within the Eagle Elite Series. No Cliffhanger
Everybody Loves A Bit of Darkness.. Until It Consumes Them…
I am a Killer. A Rapist. A Monster.
I know only pain and survival.
That is until the Cappo’s sister walked into my life.
And changed everything.
She’s a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile … a light who makes my darkness darker, her smile makes my heart turn to ice, and I can’t escape the fear her seductive looks instill–knowing it’s only a matter of time before I fail — again, and take her for myself.
This is the story of my redemption.
But it’s not pretty… I died, and now I’m alive, but not living, breathing but not surviving. I am Phoenix De Lange, son to a murdered mob boss, estranged brother, horrible friend, monster in the making, newest leader to one of the most powerful families in the Cosa Nostra.
And I will have my vengeance.
Or die trying.
I am Phoenix De Lange.
Death is all I know.
Until she offers me a piece of life — I can’t resist taking

I never in a million years thought Phoenix would be redeemed but it turns out he can.
This book shattered me, after reading Enforce I knew all wasn’t as it seemed but this book being mostly Phoenix’s POV completely devastated me. His life had been saved but he wasn’t living, merely existing, until Bee.
She was a breath of fresh air that gave him a reason to take a breath, to live and to forgive himself.
This book not only had Phoenix’s redemption but also the friendship of the guys was a whole new level, trusting each other on a deeper level and I love it. The banter between the guys is amazingly entertaining. I love when they are all together.
*5 Stars*
Um, wow. If you had told me when I started this series, that I wouldn’t hold such horrible thoughts towards Phoenix by the end (or in this case, a few books later), I would have told you that you were wrong.
RVD sure has turned that around. Whilst Phoenix has a horrible abusive past, we really get to understand it this book, given that it is his turn for his story. Man oh man. The feels he gives you. The struggles he has. I really enjoyed reading this one.
Bee is a really likeable character that’s had a very sheltered life and is really trying to find herself and be happy. She sure doesn’t give up on Phoenix either. Their connection was great.
I loved this book, as with all the others I’ve read so far in this series. There were a bunch of shocks in here that I didn’t expect as well. What a page turner. Can’t wait to continue onto the next book!
OH MY GOSH!!! This was soooo good! I LOVED the characters. Bee was a hoot. She was so carefree in the midst of so many mob bosses and she didn’t let Phoenix’s tortured soul get to her. She saw passed all that and loved him for the man she knew he could be. She was his redemption.
Phoenix was so haunted by his past and the things he’s done that he only went through the motions of being a mob boss and protecting Bee. He saw no future for himself other than those responsibilities. He had no purpose to actually live life until Bee broke through to him.
Her teasing and taunting were comical it kept the story from being too serious but it was the perfect temp to this story. There was mob drama as well as relationship drama…and not just between Bee and Phoenix but also the rest of the Bosses. Their friendship was strong but they didn’t allow that to interfere with their duty and it showed in how they handled betrayal.
I know this is #6 in the series and I’ve had this series on my radar for quite some time, but hadn’t had a chance to crack them open on my Kindle…and yet, I was able to follow this story and the characters without the previous books. But, I will most definitely be moving 1-5 to the top of my reading order so I can learn more.
This was a great read and a first for me from this author. I have to say it was eloquently written and the story was just amazing. I am super stoked to read Sergio’s and Andi’s story in the next novel. I CANNOT a wait!! I will be all caught up with the series by the time it’s released.
2 Thumbs up!!
Every time Rachel releases a new cover to any of her books I pre-make my blog posts because she’s always a one-click for me. This was a long-a** wait let me tell you what, I found myself hounding that girl everyday asking if Phoenix was ready yet. He’s an oddball, I mean the boy sometimes doesn’t know what to do and even though he’s a total bada** I think he’s scared of what Bee brings out of him like any mafia man he’s quite possessive of what’s his, and Bee is his, he just needs to pull his head out of his a** long enough to figure it out I mean seriously why else get all jealous, “his jaw cracked. “Of course it would! A girl wouldn’t be trying to get into your damn pants!” He’s seriously in denial ladies. Once head is removed from a** their naughty times are HOT! And we learn Phoenix is a show type of man not a tell, “oh, I’m hot…” I cupped her a** and jerked her against me. “But do I feel bothered? Even a little bit?” Each book gets better and better but Chase his is still my favorite I can’t wait to see what Sergio has to offer
