THE NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLERElvis Presley’s fiancée and last love tells her story and sets the record straight in this deeply personal memoir that reveals what really happened in the final years of the King of Rock n’ Roll.Elvis Presley and Graceland were fixtures in Ginger Alden’s life; after all, she was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. But she had no idea that she would play a part in … idea that she would play a part in that enduring legacy. For more than three decades Ginger has held the truth of their relationship close to her heart. Now she shares her unique story…
In her own words, Ginger details their whirlwind romance—from first kiss to his stunning proposal of marriage. And for the very first time, she talks about the devastating end of it all and the fifty thousand mourners and reporters who descended on Graceland in 1977, exposing Ginger to the reality of living in the spotlight of a short yet immortal life.
Above it all, Ginger rescues Elvis from the hearsay, rumors, and tabloid speculations of his final year by shedding a frank yet personal light on a very public legend. From a unique and intimate perspective, she reveals the man—complicated, romantic, fallible, and human—behind the myth, a superstar worshipped by millions and loved by Ginger Alden.

If you are an Elvis fan, I reccomend this book. I really enjoyed this book and thought that it was very informative. I have a new theory to the cause of Elvis’s death due to this book. I reccomend you reading it to see what you think about it.
This is a very odd book, or merely out of time and place?
So what is it about?
The bottom line is that it is about Ginger and her relationship with Elvis, but the very nature of the relationship to me feels more than a little weird. Either from it being a Christian belt relationship in the 1970s or just that Elvis and Ginger were both somewhat different characters than the herd?
There is also a strong sense of buying, every page mentions,,, and then Elvis bought me a new car, diamond jewellery and a fur coat. By the end of the book, she must have held the most extensive collection of all three in the country, I suspect. Is love really about buying your partners attention?
So those are the key themes you notice running through it.
Anyway, the story … Elvis is reaching out to local girls offering them dates. He extends an invite to Gingers Sister, who is a local beauty queen. Three sisters visit together, and Elvis falls for 20-year-old Ginger.
And the story continues from there up until she finds him dead in his bathroom.
But as I said, it is odd,
• Elvis is always surrounded by his Entourage
• They only have sex clothed in their Pajamas
• From the first day they met, she stays at his mansion virtually constantly
• She occasionally notes his strange tablets taken often
• He quotes Numerology constantly
• Claims to be able to influence the cloud patterns and heal without touching
• Ginger accepts everything he says, always without question
Is this normal for a big-time star? The age difference of 22 years is a factor sometimes quoted here, but age is immaterial in love and oddness, I suspect?
Anyway, I enjoyed it but mainly for how odd it was.
A look at a side of Elvis that is hard to imagine.
Interesting – lots I didn’t know.
It was nice to read about Elvis from a close figure. Ginger tells us how personal Elvis was and how he was a recluse. He did have a temper and was hard to live with but he was also a very generous person. I have followed Elvis, reading many books about him.
Gave an interesting insight into the last few years of Elvis’s life
I found it fascinating! Reading how Elvis spent the last year of his life was truly compelling. Facts I would never have known otherwise.
His fiancé Ginger did an excellent job of showing that this super star was very
Intelligent, extravagant, eccentric, self absorbed yet loving and giving.
Couldn’t put it down.
If you are an Elvis fan, this is an interesting read.
Great read.
Really enjoyed! From the voice of the King’s last girlfriend/fiancé…. well written!
Couldn’t put it down.
Nice read for any Elvis fan I would definitely recommend
Written simply as Ginger saw it at the time. I think it was an accurate view of Elvis’ life and personality. He could be funny, very caring of others but also spoiled; not unusual for his popularity. He was deeply spiritual and searching; a very sad ending for Ginger too.
I’m not sure WHO Ginger is trying to convince, herself or us that Elvis loved her. The man was an amazing entertainer, BUT, could have easily fed and entire third world country with the money he spent on jewelry, mink coats and vehicles for these needy girlfriends. Elvis, in his pajamas, living in his bedroom, blah, blah, blah. Boring.
