It was a great romance book, personally I would’ve liked to see some more depth into the characters other than Kate/Ava like Logan, Vicki, and especially the Webster brothers. I loved the split point of view between the love interests and they were very well done. I did expect the social climbing ex to show up more and cause issues which didn’t happen and it felt like there was much conflict in the book. Overall it was cute and I thought the overall plot was feasible. I only occasionally read purely romance, but I definitely enjoyed Elusive. I will be looking into the authors others books.

Awesome romantic suspense with lots of different interesting events for the main character Kate. The blurb that tells about the story only gives you a hint of what you’re in store for with Evan and Kate. The story line is great as you slowly learn more about Kate. I received a complementary copy of this book via Hidden Gems and chose to write a review. I look forward to reading future books by Ms. Dean.
Love this author! I have read most of her books and she always keeps you intrigued. This one threw me a loop and wasn’t expecting to be suspenseful and that is one of my favorites. This story will take you on a ride!
I am a fan of Ali Dean’s books. I really liked the Stark Springs Academy series, Pepped Up series, The Line Below. Some of them were exceptionally good and that made me wishing for more Ali Dean’s books.
This standalone NA book had a great start and a very good story behind. Kate was a strong-willed heroine and Evan was … Evan was just the guy every girl wants to meet. The book begun perfectly, a reader could get to know Kate and saw her struggling to have close friends or a boyfriend. I believed her. The only reason, why this book did not get 5 star rating, is that it was too rushed for my liking. I felt like there were more story to write, as well as that the relationship between our couple had to be a bit slower. A bit more action and slower relationship progress would have made me love it, not just enjoy it. It is a good story, nice characters, but too rushed. I wanted to get to know them better. So my advice to the author is to write a bit longer story, not like into 2 books, but at least not so rushed.
I do recommend it to read, just be prepared that everything is evolving real fast.
I voluntary reviewed an ARC granted by the author’s team.
I thought this was a good book although Kate, the main character, annoyed me a bit. She was a sheltered rich girl who made the mistake of not telling anyone who killed her mother. So she spent the next few years lonely and in hiding. I understand why she acted the way she did but it got a bit repetitious. All in all, its a good story with a HEA.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC, provided by the author and/or the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Based on the description, I expected more of a thriller/suspense aspect to the story. There is a bit near the end, but not much until then. That’s one reason, I think, why it was hard for me to get into this book; another is that there is way too much telling and not nearly enough showing: we sort-of know what the characters look like physically, but have zero idea about what the setting looks like, characters’ expressions and body language. Add to that the fact that Kate and Evan don’t really have any chemistry…well, it’s hard to get invested in the story.
I like the alternating POV’s, but they both go over the same scenes so it’s redundant. But what bothered me the most was that the story was full of a lot of the usual b.s. tropes: insta-lust, male possessiveness, control issues masquerading as protectiveness. And why does every single person in this story play tennis? It’s kind of odd.
