Omg I need Elliott.
I have been dying for more of this series since Jordan’s book. (Which was brilliant by the way) Elliot is a great guy, the things he has been through is horrible. He had no childhood it was robbed from him and it’s something he will never forget. All he ever wanted was a family that luv him for who he was and he found that in his band Preload. The guys meet in a home years ago and they have been together ever since they so have there own problems but together they help each other. But lately Elliott was seeing some of his band members getting there own little family and he wanted that so much but he didn’t think he could ever have that. He was still dealing with some heavy problems and they could get in the way of him having a family if he couldn’t get things under control.
Kendalee is a hard working protective mother see would do anything for her teen son Daniel and at the min Daniel needs her more than anything. Kendalee as been through so much the least few year her husband is a cheat and causes drama and then there is the hard times she is going through with Daniel. That poor boy had me in tears throughout this book my heart broke for him. A little boy shouldn’t have to go through what he did and he needed his family more than ever. But his mum is the only person he can trust and that was hard for him. Kendalee put her son first and always will but when she saw her son talking to the very sexy Elliott she starts feeling things she hasn’t in a long while and she actually thought she shouldn’t feel them she was still married and he looked younger than her but whatever he was talking to him about she hadn’t seen that look on his face in a while and she could help them get a lil stronger.
These two characters have been through so much but together they seem to gel. They both have a lot to deal with and a lot of healing to do. There sexy chemistry is so strong that they find it hard to keep away from each other and with Elliott an his sexy texts talk and being a great guy it’s hard not to fall for him. The way he his with Daniel just melted my heart so much. I thought no one from This band could take over Jordan I luv him so much but Elliott is up there with him. I could talk about him for ages there is just so much he did in this book that I luvd.
This book has me a wreck by the time it was finished. But I luvd every minute of it it was amazing. The story has me ducked in from the very start and till the very end. I couldn’t get enough of it. This author really knows how to keep your attention. When you think the story is going to start calming down a little it take another turn and get even better. She really knows how to put a story together and come up with story lines that are amazing.
I would highly recommend this book. It can be read as a standalone but I would read the first book first. You get to see the rest of the guys in this book and it’s another thing that I luv about this book is that you get to know more about them. The author also likes to tease you with what could happen with the other guys as well. I need Nikan’s book so much right now. Overall there wasn’t a thing that I didn’t like about this book. Brilliant.
Elliott Dawson was not nicknamed “Pyro” for nothing as he fought his way out of his inner hell by literally setting things on fire. Kendalee Walker lost her husband to another woman but not before she had long before lost herself to an empty marriage. When Kendalee’s fourteen year old son, Daniel, ends up in the SickKids Hospital’s burn unit Elliott and Kendalee are instantly drawn to each other and bond in their mutual goal of helping Daniel recover. Can they find the love they need to heal their own tattered spirits?
Get comfortable because trying to pull yourself away from a Scarlett Cole book is nearly impossible, the woman writes with spellbinding intent and super glue in her ink. Elliott Redeemed, book two in her Preload series, brings another of this band’s members to the spotlight and cuts deep. This writer is not afraid to go to dark and emotionally wrenching places, but the pain is worth it. Elliott needed love and Ms. Cole’s readers will want to love him, this guy will break your heart and this author will piece it back together as Elliott finds his happiness. Kendalee was exquisitely understated as she handled every obstacle thrown at her with dignity, grit and kindness. What really stood out with both of these characters was their generous hearts and how strong they were individually, yet it took the love they found in each other to recognize these traits in themselves. This couple’s relationship was rooted in the beauty they found within one another and Ms. Cole did a fantastic job of dismissing both her characters and readers doubts on just how perfectly suited Elliott and Kendalee were together. Moments of poignant sweetness washed over the tragic darkness haunting this story and brought hope in the contrast. Readers will be brought to their knees with the power of Scarlet Cole’s writing and Elliott’s redemption.
*I was given an advanced copy. All opinions expressed are my own.*
*While part of a series this book can be read as a stand alone.*
‘Elliott redeemed’ is the second book in the ‘Preload’ series. The series is about the members of the music band Preload. After reading the first book in the series, I was very curious about the stories of the other members of the band. The guys may be famous now and have all the benefits of being a rock star but each of them still carries some emotional scars inside from their difficult childhood. And each of them copes with it in their own different way.
The next guy of the band to find his ‘happy end’ is Elliott. Because of things that happened with his stepfather (physical abuse) in his youth, Elliott has developed a fascination with fire, especial setting things in fire. Throughout the years Elliott has learned how to get his impulses under control but that soon becomes a challenge when he meets Daniel and his mother Kendalee in the hospital. Because Daniel lies there with burns after he set his parent’s house on fire. For Elliott, getting involved with them, could mean setting his own demons free but the attraction Elliott feels towards Kendalee and her son is too big to ignore. Is Elliott strong enough to face his past and his own demons and help Daniel with his??
I liked this story. It is told in both POV’s. Just like the first book, it’s an emotional story. There is no cheating going on and I was happily surprised to discover that Kendalee is a bit older than Elliott. I liked Elliott’s character very much, he really is there for Daniel and Kendalee, even when it’s very hard for him. I must confess that I liked Elliott more than I liked Kendalee. She was a good mother and woman but I just felt a little bit less connected with her. I loved the connection between Elliott and Daniel and the other guys of the band.
‘Preload’ is a great series and I’m looking forward to reading the next book in the series.
This book was a fantastic read. Having read Jordan Reclaimed I knew that this was going to be a tough story to read and at times it really was. Elliott has gone through so much but he has a heart of pure gold and deserves to have nothing put happiness and love in his life. Before I carry on reading this series I’m going to read the Second Circle Tattoo series from which the Preload series is a spin off as I need to find out some more background details about characters in the book. This is another fabulous read and I’m hooked!!
Feel the heat
Binge reading all of Scarlett Cole’s Second Circle series and her Preload novels has been the best and worst decision ever. The best because I haven’t had to wait (long) for any new releases and I get to experience the awesomeness that is her writing in a short space of time. But it’s the worst since I will now have to wait a little while before I read her next series (Love Over Duty) and because waiting for Lennon Reborn to come out is going to be the death of me
Now onto Elliott Redeemed. I absolutely devoured this story – reading it in pretty much one day. I couldn’t put the story down and I was fortunate that I really didn’t have to. It has so much that I loved and rather than write an essay-long review about why this is my favourite book of Scarlett’s (for now!!) – I’ll do what I have only done for a handful of reviews, and give you a list of bullet points that demonstrate why this book is absolutely phenomenal!!
– Elliott is the most ideal tortured, brooding hero. He has the looks, the talent but most of all his back-story will gut you, his journey is gripping and his absolute love and adoration for Kendalee and her son Daniel is perfection to read.
– Kendalee is my favourite heroine from all of Scarlett’s books (thus far). I just have a big soft spot for mothers – especially when they are written well – because I love to see mothers get a chance to focus on themselves, and falling in love wiht a hot rock star definitely helps with that.
– Daniel – sometimes kids (teens especially) can be a distraction in a romance novel but Kendalee’s son has had a rough time and yet his scenes were some of my favourite. He had a way of capturing what was going on and articulating it well for a teen and the bond he forms with Elliott is so precious!!!
– Petal – Dred and Pixie’s little girl steals every single scene she is in. I love her and I love exploring the relationship she has with each of the Preload boys when it’s their story. So I can’t wait to see the impact she has had and will have on Nikkan and Lennon.
– Updates galore!!!! I loved the little updates we got from Dred and Pixie plus Jordan and Lexie. This is why I’m such a big fan of series – it’s like the all characters don’t truly leave you until the series ends.
– Hot steamy sex scenes!!! I loved them and I loved the bit of kink that Elliott is into as well.
– The theme of helping yourself before being of any help to anyone else. This is such a big thing that resonated so deeply with me as a mother myself. Too often I put myself last and this book was another reminder to look after myself as well as my family.
– Again Scarlett does not shy away from the big issues – pyromania, arson, child abuse, sexual abuse, mental health issues, divorce, burns sufferers. Everything is again treated with realism, with respect and truly added to the story.
– The epilogue was perfect. It left me with a massive smile on my face! I love epilogues because they give me a another little update and this one was perfect!
– Nikkan and Lennon hints. Obviously the hints for Nikkan’s book were more pronounced as his book is out next (and I loved the major reference we got in the epilogue!!) but I have a feeling Lennon’s book is going to be the one I fall in love with. There is something about the youngest band member that makes me desperate to know more.
———
Well that was massive. And goes to show how much I absolutely loved this book. It’s up there for me in my top 10 reads of 2017 (thank goodness it snuck in lol) and I’m going to be all over Nikkan Rebuilt when it releases in a few days time!!
I wanted to scoop these characters up in my arms and hug them!
Elliott had such a rotten childhood and Kendalee was hurting from the loss of her dreams with a son in the hospital and Daniel (her son) was also hurting – in more ways than one.
I *FELT* and
I *CARED* and
I *Hurt* with them all
That said…I really liked Elliott as a person and his realization that Kendalee was the woman for him…no matter what. I enjoyed seeing Kendalee come out of her shell and realize that Elliott was the person she needed in her life…no matter what. I loved the interactions between Elliott and Daniel. I just really really REALLY enjoyed this book – even though it was painful for the characters to deal with the issues they faced in the story. And, I was thrilled with the ending and hope to hear how the three are doing in the next books of the series.
Preload is a group of men that I adore. Meeting them in Cole’s first series was a treat but getting to know them better in this series is oh so special. The talented rock stars of Preload have all gone through H*LL as children and come out on the other side stronger but with backstories/issues that impact them as adults. The fact that they are able to meet women that see beyond their fame, money and issues to the men they are and accept and love them creates powerful love stories with wonderful couples. I can’t WAIT for the rest of this series!
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Pres-Swerve for the ARC – This is my honest review.
