Hannah didn’t have much use for her idiot brother, Duncan. And when she heard her brother had murdered his wife, and her nephew Cody was on the run from his father, she wasn’t surprised. She was surprised, however, and elated to find out her sister, Julia, was alive. Julia’s slimy ex-husband, Nathan, had Hannah believing Julia was dead.
Elliot was sent to bring Hannah back. Nathan had learned that Julia had left town and taking Hannah would be his leverage to make Julia do as he wanted. Elliot knew Nathan was on his way, and they had to hurry to keep Nathan from finding her. What he wasn’t expecting to find was his mate.
Hannah had had enough of men telling her what to do and finding out Elliot was a vampire didn’t make the situation any easier. He would take it slow and tread softly, or she would stake him, simple as that.
Finding out Nathan and Duncan had banned together spelled trouble for everyone. Even though Hannah was now immortal, Elliot still worried about her because she could still be hurt, and no one touched his mate if they wanted to live.

‘Elliot’ is Kathi S. Barton’s third book in her “Sons of Crosby” series and it is a humdinger filled with kidnapping, murder, adventure, and all manner of chaos. Let’s not forget the Fated mate we all anticipate when we read a book by Ms. Barton. This story opens with a small boy hiding in Elliot’s greenhouse. Eliot can tell he’s been physically and mentally abused along with being starved. As a matter a fact, Elliot fixing his lunch is the only thing that brought the boy out of the shadows. Their meeting and the circumstances around it opened the door to not only Elliot meeting his mate but also her sister-n-law, who each had though the other dead. This was a great read as always.
Loved it
Elliot finds his mate in Cody’s aunt Hannah. Hannah is a engineer, who excels in research. She puts her skills to help her mate and new brothers with their various business ventures. Loved working with her new dad. Through her new family she is reunited with her sister.
Hannah’s brother wants Cody back, and has teamed up with her sisters equally abusive EX, to get him.
Fast paced and a little steamy. Loved Elliot and Hannah’s story. Looking forward to the next book.
I’m not 100% sure how I feel about this book.
When Elliot first meets Cody’s aunt, he’s convinced that she’s his mate. The idea of having a mate with children already isn’t ideal, but Elliot wouldn’t love them any less. When he discovers Julia is not his mate he’s a bit disappointed and let down. I have to say, I was a bit disappointed as well. While Julia seemed a bit battered from her previous marriage she showed a strength that only a determined woman could.
Enters Hannah. Julia’s sister and Elliot’s mate. I didn’t like Hannah. She’s was a bit too much for me. Constantly trying to prove she was ‘Miss Independent’ but then she’s falling all over herself in love with a guy she doesn’t really know. While I’m all for a strong woman character, there comes a time when the woman can be too much for me and I just don’t see the appeal of her.
This is definitely one of my favorite series by this author. The antics of the characters never fail to make me smile. Elliot has a kind heart, protecting a child from an abusive parent was done without a second thought. Finding his mate as a result was not expected and the fact she has a chip where men are concerned means he must be patient. Hannah has had it with men, when a vampire shows up at her door claiming she is in danger, she is his mate and she needs to come with him she might just have to stake him. ( very funny dialog). The character interaction is very amusing, fast paced, will make you smile and like the characters all the more. The bad guys are super stupid, very bad and need to get eaten, but that is just my opinion. Easy to read, keeps your interest and attention, well written and entertaining. I look forward to the next one.
I finished reading this morning. One of my favorite authors. Always a good read from Kathi. I can’t wait for the other three books in series to get here.
I love this book from the start.
That sweet little boy Cody stole my heart. With all that abuse he trust Elliot. He is a amazing man in my mind. I was so sad for Elliot when he thought, he found his mate but she wasn’t and he was so disappointed about it. Not the woman perse but that the children wouldn’t be his. He was so sad. I would want a mate like that! He is a amazing guy!
Read it and fall in love with them. I did before this book but now I am over the moon
I volunteered to review this story for my honest opinion
