Unmistaken
This book does stand on its own, but it is best read after the original Elkridge series in order to understand the community dynamics. Now for a warning: keep the tissues handy because you’re going to need them. The emotional undertow is deep and strong. This book takes on some really big subjects, including love, loss, life, death, second chances, following dreams, secrets, and truth. And they’re all handled with such a deft touch that you really don’t realize just how deep the subject matter is until you notice just how far over your head you’ve gotten. I love Ethan. He’s one of those damaged heroes you just want to cuddle close and promise everything will be alright. His family sounds like an emotional minefield and his previous romantic relationship doesn’t sound much better. I’m a fixer and every part of my heart called out to put Ethan back together. I’m having a serious love-hate relationship with the female leads I’ve read this year. Most of them have driven me absolutely mental, and Noelle was no exception. I think in her case it’s because I see so much of who I used to be in her actions and emotions. With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, I wanted her to make different decisions. But if she had, it wouldn’t have been the same story and I wouldn’t have connected so deeply with the book.
Atonement
I’ve watched Rachelle through the rest of the Elkridge series and I’ve had a serious love-hate relationship with her character. She’s come across as the stereotypical mean-girl, but there’ve been moments that broke the mold. I knew there had to be more to her than we’d been able to see so far. Jacob Reyes, the video game designer, as her hero made my inner (and outer) nerd-girl “squee!” in geeky delight. Watching Rachelle and Jacob navigate their relationship around the great heaps of baggage they’re both carrying around has left me with several things to ponder about my own life. There are so many deep and important messages within this book, I don’t quite know where to start. I think the most powerful ones that I took away were being true to yourself and honoring your truth. And, you can’t fix anybody but yourself.
Bittersweet
I started to read the opening scene and thought to myself, ‘light of heaven! I’m going to be a weepy, emotional mess by the time this book is over.’ I wasn’t far wrong, but there aren’t the big, ugly-cry scenes I was expecting. Instead, it’s the small moments that hit you with the emotional impact of a speeding freight train. Remembering beloved moments with the important people who are no longer with us. Reconnecting with the people dear to us that we’ve been separated from. Recognizing the internal mental and emotional wounds that need healing. It was the little things in Heath and Leza’s story that made me wish the tissue box was closer. At the same time, this book has so many wonderfully funny moments that I laughed so hard I was nearly crying from it. Ellie is one of the best child characters I have ever read. She was the best kind of comic relief this story could have.

This is one series that I thoroughly enjoyed reading and trying to solve the mystery kept me engaged. I read each of these books as stand alones, but I am glad that Lyz has now bundled them together to make it easier to keep track of them. If you enjoyed the first 4 plus extras, then you will definitely enjoy and have to read this collection.
for fans of Robyn Carr’s Virgin River or Sherryl Woods Chesapeake Shores it’s a wonderful series.
I absolutely loved this collection. In this binge worthy series, Lyz has built a small town and filled it with people you want to spend your time getting to know. These novels are well developed, and they all have unique and engrossing storylines. Your emotions will definitely be engaged. I love these damaged souls finding healing and trust through love. So prepare to be captivated and held spellbound in the world that Lyz has created. It would be a shame to miss this wonderful series and Books 1-4.
