She brought him back from death and made him live again. Dash thought himself alone, a soldier, a fighting machine and no more. Elizabeth made him realize he was a man. Danger surrounds the woman his soul marked as his mate, death and blood and a treachery that goes beyond even his worst nightmares. But he will protect her and what she claims as her own. He was created to kill, trained to do it … it efficiently, and only a man bound to her, heart and soul, will have the strength to save Elizabeth and her prized possession. He was a lone wolf. A man alone. No pack, no family, no one to call his own until one single, innocent letter awoke Elizabeth’s wolf.

I finally got to read the earlier books in the (breed) series and I enjoy this book and didn’t want to put it down for the storyline alone.
This is a reread of a book I first read back in 2008. The publisher has re-released Elizabeth’s Wolf in advance of Cassie’s story line-Cross Breed.
REVIEW: ELIZABETH’S WOLF is the third instalment in Lora Leigh’s contemporary, adult BREEDS erotic, paranormal romance series. This is Special Forces soldier and Wolf Breed Dash Sinclair, and Elizabeth and her seven-year old daughter Cassie Colder’s story line. ELIZABETH’S WOLF can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is a continuing premise throughout.
SOME BACKGROUND: Lora Leigh’s paranormal Breed series focuses on a government experiment that went horribly wrong. Trying to create the ultimate warrior and weapon, scientists combined animal DNA with human embryos resulting in a species that has been feared and tortured since their inception. Hoping to prevent their exposure, the Breeds are hunted, tortured, tested and destroyed by the very people who created them. This is not a series about animal shifters, but a series about humans created with animal DNA.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Dash and Elizabeth) ELIZABETH’S WOLF follows the building relationship between Special Forces soldier and wolf Breed Dash Sinclair, and human Elizabeth Colder. Elizabeth and seven year old Cassie Colder are on the run. With the recent murder of Elizabeth’s abusive husband, Cassie was forced to watch her father die, and now someone is hunting the mother and daughter duo, and our heroine has no idea as to the reason why. When a grade-school project finds Cassie in communication with a wounded Special Forces soldier, Elizabeth is unaware how her life is about to change. Enter Dash Sinclair, Wolf Breed enforcer, and the man with whom Elizabeth will fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Elizabeth and Dash, and the potential fall-out as the Breed hierarchy and Dash hunt for the people responsible for the attack on Elizabeth and Cassie’s lives.
Like all of Lora Leigh’s BREED books, ELIZABETH’S WOLF is an erotic romance story line with graphic scenes of sexual aggression, and animal like sexual behavior. Lora’s excessive use of a certain four-letter word is troublesome but like many authors Lora’s style will change throughout the series.
Dash Sinclair has never found a mate, and is unaware of the animal-like tendencies during mating that may create some problems and difficulties claiming the woman that calls to his heart. Once again, as the series develops, each animal characteristic will become evident as the author offers up the true nature of the beast.
The world building continues to focus on the search for a number of the missing Breeds thought to have escaped the government compounds. With each successive instalment there is more background information, and Breed features and characteristics revealed.
Cassie, as we will discover, is a special child who talks to spirits, specifically a ‘fairy-like’ apparition that warns and directs Cassie throughout her life. This spirit will become more prominent as the heroine grows, playing an active role in Cassie’ book CROSS BREED.
ELIZABETH’S WOLF is an action packed, exciting, and revealing story line that sets-up many of the upcoming instalments. If you are a fan of the paranormal romance, Lora Leigh’s BREED series is worth the price of admission.
Elizabeth’s Wolf is a re-issue, re-edited version with a new cover, and it’s definitely better IMO. In this book we meet Cassie as a child and the Wolf Breeds and Vanderale are first introduced. Each book is a stand alone story with interconnecting characters. With this book you get Alpha Males, Spit-fire females, steaming, hot sex, Amazing characters and a fast-paced plot that will blow your mind. These books are addictive, I warn you now, that you will go nights without sleep, and go through these books like a fiend!
Dash Sinclair, a Major in the Army, Special Forces, is a solitary man with secrets and he has lost the will to live with the devastating loss of his unit. Until a letter arrives from a little girl describing her mama and herself, he can see them in his minds eye, claims them for himself and with this decision he decides to fight to heal. Each week brings a letter from Cassie, strengthening his resolve to get back in fighting shape. Suddenly, the letters stop arriving, he knows somethings wrong and mother and child is in danger. He must get to them.
Elizabeth and her daughter, Cassie, are running from a evil, monster that refuses to let them go over a dark secret that will line his pockets further. When Elizabeth has run out of all options to save herself and her child, in walks Dash. She knows he’s too good to be true, that she cannot afford to trust him but she needs help more than ever now.
To save them Dash knows he will have to claim this woman as his mate and the child as his daughter. But to do so will call his beast from within and the once Lone Wolf will except help from friends and become Elizabeth’s Wolf….
Loved it- To me this is one of the best “breeds” books she’s ever done-Loved the characters & it was action packed & just a wonderful read!
Elizabeth’s Wolf, is one of my favorite books from the Breeds series. Dash, Elizabeth, and Cassie, are wonderfully written characters. They keep you captivated in their journey together. I could not put this book down! It is one of the few books, I can pick up at anytime and never get tired of rereading…
Cassie, age 8, as she is being forced to leave her mom, while they secure her future safety: “And you better come back for me, Momma, or I’ll hunt you like the big wolfs and when I catch you, I’ll bite you.”
Need I say more?! It is just too precious!
When you need help to save yourself
This book is a wonderful addition to the Breeds series. So many pivotal characters are introduced and the action is none stop from word one. I love how the author has created such strong women to be the mate of the alpha males. There is no way for the Breeds to not succeed when they are paired together. I can’t wait to read the next book.
I am head over heels with the breed series
I have read the original Elizabeth’s Wolf and knowing with the revised addition she had added some details I couldn’t help but get it and read it.
I love all the new additions to it- it didn’t change the storyline, just added more flare and kept me even more captivated will continue to keep up with all the breed lives
Loved it
This is the one that hooked me on the Breeds series!! Excellent take on all things shifter. LOVE this author!!
This is a great series .. the first books were more intense…but i still live her books
This was my first book in this series and now I am starting at the beginning! I LOVE these book!! Great paranormal series with no cheating and a HEA!
I love this series. They can be read as stand alone but enjoyed best if you read in order. Must love sci-fi.this book is especially good because of the h’s little girl. She is so great. Also, the H is hot, hot, HOT!
I love this book great story to stand alone or read The series
5 stars
Elizabeth and her daughter Cassie have been on the run for two years. Cassie saw her father killed when he was trying to give her away. Dash, a Wolf Breed, is in the Special Forces and was almost killed when his helicopter was shot down. He’s in a coma when he gets letters from a little girl, Cassie,as part of the pen pal program. When he awakes he finds out Cassie and her mother are missing. They say they were killed in an explosion but Dash knows they are still alive. He goes looking for them but it’ll take a lot of convincing to get Elizabeth to trust him. Dash and Elizabeth will do anything to keep Cassie safe, even be separated from her.
I loved this story. Action, sex, and wonderful characters. I am a big fan of Ms. Leigh and absolutely love her Breed series. Cassie is a special child and I love her, she has a “ fairy “ that keeps her safe.
This one of my favorite of the Breed series (which I’ve lost track of because it didn’t seem to end). I love Dash and Elizabeth. I won’t say this is the best written book, but definitely a guilty pleasure! Still Lora Leigh is a solid author and this is early in the series before everything felt recycled (and I know that true fans will hate me for saying that).
Lora Leigh tells a great story in all of her Breed Series Books.
One of my favourites in this series. Tears in my eyes every time I read the beginning of this story, no matter how many times I have read it.
Love how strong Elizabeth is and how adorable Cassie is.
Dash is one of the most honourable men I have ever read about but a real alpha male when it comes to HIS mate.
Fun having Simon and his ladies pop in.
I hope Ms Leigh writes him a proper story one day, expanding on his short one I have.
Having read the whole series I love that these three are continually playing a big part in future books, especially Cassie.
I have owned these books for years and reread them often but my earlier reviews are missing.
ADDENDUM – I have read the revised extended version through my library and it was not worth paying out twice for the same book. A more rounded beginning but nothing added to the main story.
I won’t pay for the same book twice due to a few extra words.
Ooooh, Dash. He became a pen pal to a little girl while serving in the military. They forged a bond and then, WOW. I love the Breed series.
Love the Breeds! It was a slight change without the mating frenzy, but no less sexy. I loved both Dash and Elizabeth, immensely. In fact, the only real issue I had with the book was after years of being smart and running protecting her daughter, then suddenly Elizabeth started acting stupid. And the showdown with Grange was kind of anticlimactic. However the rest of the book and romance was freaking awesome.
I finally got to read the earlier books in the (breed) series and I enjoy this book and didn’t want to put it down for the storyline alone.
