Normally I don’t read books set further back than about WW I, but I do like this author so took a chance. Elizabeth signs a mail order bride contract mainly for the financial gain she can provide for her mother and sisters back home. Her father and both brothers were killed in the Civil War and her fiance has been missing so long that he is presumed dead. She marries the man in her contract, but I won’t spoil it by saying anymore…
I enjoyed reading this book! After the civil war, her fiancee was dead and his wife was dead, both decided to seek mates thru mail order! I recommend this book to everyone who likes romance!
Elizabeth has lost everything in the war. The only thing she can do is becoming a mail order bride in Angel Creek. Her surprise is great when she meets David, a man she had know before. Can these two with their past build a happy future?
Great story with fun main and side characters. And with some surprises.
Loved this book!! Elizabeth and David get married a few hours after she arrives on the train. David determines he’s going to court her and win her heart. There appear to be a few obstacles, but he manages to overcome. Elizabeth is falling fast and hard for her new husband; will a letter from her mother cause her to turn away from him? Loved the way the story turned out!!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to write a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Elizabeth grew up pre Civil War. She was a real Southern Belle, and then the war swept it all away, along with all of the men in her life. Father, brothers, fiance… All of them gone. Her home life destroyed and family struggling for survival, It is decided she must go west and become a Mail Order Bride.
Her surprise upon arriving in Angel Creek and meeting her groom… Captain David Pemberton!!! She knows this man… She was there when he received the news of his wife’s death and infant followed. He was devastated and retreated to Montana at War’s end. He accepts a dare just before Christmas because the men in town tell him 4 years is long enough to mourn.
Both partners in this story carry a secret, but they also harbor underlying attraction. They are genuinely attracted and have a hard time holding them back.
The characters draw you in and carry you through the book. You will enjoy the read.
I received an ARC of this book and am choosing to leave an honest review.

This is a sweet and heart warming story with wonderful character development. This is Elizabeth and David’s story and is a story with several surprises in it that will keep you turning the pages to see what is going to happen next. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it…I know you will enjoy it!!
I felt for the characters. A surprise mail order situation, where neither person has knowledge of who they were meeting and that they had met at war. Their dealing with the new situation, marriage, and what life had to offer was heartwarming. A few twists to make it interesting. A great continuation of this series..can’t wait for the next as this town grows.
I am sure life was very difficult for those men & women who survived the Civil War. With so many men dying during the war, women probably had to leave their homes to find a husband. Even though this story is not based on anything true from that era it is a story I enjoyed because it opened my eyes to what might have happened after the war. I think it is worth the time to read. I received a free copy. This is my voluntary review.
I was very moved by the characters in this book. Elizabeth and David fell fast and hard for each other and were very devoted! Loved how powerful their romance was! Great book!
A story about two hearts who’s fated to heal each other. A sweet and loving story perfect for relaxing. I love how the story ended up with happily ever after.
