Aiden St. Delphi will do anything to save Alex. Even if it means doing the one thing he will never forgive himself for. Even if it means making war against the gods.
“Love is such a wild and reckless creature. It cannot be planned or threaded. It cannot be controlled. Love can coexist with Fate, or it can undo it. Love is the only thing more powerful that Fate.”
Elixir is a novella from Aiden’s POV that comes between Deity and Apollyon. So if you haven’t read Deity yet, turn back now because there will be spoilers.
Elixir picks up right after the events in Deity. Alex has turned 18 meaning that she has awakened and is now connected to Seth and she is clearly not herself. In order to keep her from going to Seth, she has been placed in a cell created by Hephaestus and Apollo with marks carved into the cement above that neutralizes most of her abilities. Knowing that they cannot continue on this way Apollo suggests putting Alex on a version of the Elixir until the can find a way to break her connection with Seth.
Seeing Alex on the Elixir is heartbreaking, especially knowing that it was something that she had always feared. Having this novella from Aiden’s POV will make you fall in love with him if you weren’t already. For the last 3 books we’ve seen everything through Alex’s eyes, and while you know Aiden loves her, being able to see their relationship through Aiden’s eyes is absolutely amazing. I loved seeing his devotion and determination to get Alex back and I’m so glad that we have that opportunity with this novella.

This short, but emotional, novella, picks up after events of Deity. Alex’s worst fear has come to pass. She has awakened and connected with the First, aka Seth. Elixir is written completely in Aiden’s POV and it made me fall even deeper in love with him. The lengths he would go to in order to protect Alex makes my heart sing. He truly loves her with abandon and it makes me so sad to see him suffer. But through it all, while some of the others have lost faith and they started to believe that Alex is lost forever, Aiden never gave up on her.
War is brewing and everyone is after something. I definitely recommend reading this novella before diving into Apollyon as it gives insight into Aiden’s feelings about Alex’s awakening and how torturous it was for him to do one of the two things Alex was most afraid of. I am both excited and heart sick knowing what is awaiting me in Apollyon.

Jennifer L Armentrout has a way of breaking my heart and leaving me rocking back and forth in a corner with a “feels” meltdown. And with Elixir she manages do that quite brilliantly. I screamed at Alex, I screamed at Apollo, I screamed at everyone but especially Seth!!! He is and always will be one of my favorite Jla characters, but I so want to punch him reading Elixir! But I will get to that.
This novella happens after Deity and Alex has awakened and she is connected to Seth, and yes, it’s a mess. Elixir it’s in Aiden’s POV, and even if its super awesome to be able to see things from his POV, not only from what is happening at that moment but everything else too, you have glimpses in how he fell in love with Alex and how he suffered pushing her away for her protection and how he restrained himself from going after her, its all so sweet and makes you swoon but then it breaks my heart seeing Aiden suffering with what is happening. Alex went crazy, she is playing team bad guys now and threatening all her friends, they contain her with the help of Apollo and Hephaestus, but they know it won’t last forever. Aiden is desperate to bring her back, and even with everything that Alex does/ says he believes in her, he doesn’t give up on her and its so sweet and the same time heart breaking because nothing works!
I am team Alex with Aiden, for me it never was a love triangle, it was obvious from the beginning that they were meant to be together but Alex does care for Seth it’s not the same, and it’s not supposed to be, but she cares, and I believe, bellow all the shit happening, that Seth does care about Alex. But he is lost and being manipulated and seeing him do this to Alex breaks my heart, makes me scream at my kindle in desperation has in some way the characters, mainly Seth, could hear me (crazy I know, I don’t care). Because Seth is and always will be my favorite in Covenant/Titan, he is in my JLA book boyfriend trinity so yeah this makes me go nuts and have a tantrum.
Add Seth’s shit storm actions and Aiden’s pain seeing the woman he loves completely lost to him, and yeah Elixir is an emotion punch to your heart. Aiden has to do some major hardcore, heartbreaking decisions in this novella, I get why but still, it’s so hard reading those pages because Jen is an amazing writer and you fell Aiden’s guilt and desperation has your own.
So, summarizing, this novella makes you scream, makes you cry but its amazing and I love it!!!

My Kindle Edition of Deity included Elixir, but I am writing the reviews separately (since they can be seen as separate books). Just make sure you read Deity before diving into this one. Spoilers ahead, because it will reveal who Alex chose as her love interest (at least that is what it looks like at the moment). This book is part of the series and the storyline starts where Deity left off. I don’t think you have to read this book as part of the series, but I would 100% recommend reading this as a part of the series. I loved this book, even though it was really painful sometimes. I still loved it. My gods…(you see what I did there?), this book is told from Aiden’s POV and.. It was amazing, but also so heartbreaking. He will do anything to save Alex and I love him for it, but it will also take it’s toll on him. He will be making some very difficult decisions and they have its repercussions. I really liked that we get to understand Aiden better and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Elixir is the only book – Short Story – that is told from the perspective of the handsome and beloved Aiden, so it is one of the best ninety pages Jennifer could give us. Seriously, if you’re a member of my team and you love Aiden, in this book you just want to love him more, hug him and tell him ¨Nene, everything will be bien¨. And if you’re not Team Aiden, then in this book you fall in love with him
Placing us on the timeline, the story in Elixir begins a few days after the end of Deity. Alex has woken up and the first thing he has done is connect with Seth.
Alex in this book has completely lost himself in the bond that unites her with the first Apollyon, her actions, desires and emotions are mixed with those of the first. There is no line where her bond begins and ends, she is completely lost, and this has led both Aiden and Marcus to take certain steps to prevent Alex from escaping and joining the first by transferring his power.
If you think Alex is suffering inside herself, because of how she feels. It’s nothing compared to reading Aiden, it breaks your heart. He is finding between his feelings for Alex and his reason for duty, to make the right choices. Aiden loves Alex so much that seeing her lost in the bond and knowing that this was one of Alex’s strongest fears destroys him. And it shatters him even more when he has to make decisions to buy time and find a way to break the bond. If in the previous books we saw an Aiden who didn’t break down who always kept his cool and focused, here we know the human Aiden who is really desperate, but that won’t stop him from doing anything to keep Alex safe.
If there is one thing we see very well in this book, it is that sometimes you have to make difficult decisions and live with them, and although those decisions ‘may be questionable in many ways, in the end we all do things out of love. If there is one thing I love, it is the way Aiden loves, he never gives up on Alex, he is always there, strong and firm, in the moments when Alex needs him, his love is unconditional.

This shorter little piece is told exclusively from Aiden St. Clair’s point of view during his desperation in trying to break the connection between his beloved Alex and Seth. He’s faced with horrible choices and it’s his struggle to find a way to help her before Apollo is forced to do something drastic.
I loved this one. I didn’t like Alex in it for obvious reasons, but the view into Aiden’s mind was a welcome one. I adored it. It needed to be told and I’m happy it did. Plus the choice he came up with in the end shows just how much he does love her, despite the taboo on their relationship. JLArmentrout does an amazing job when she finally writes from the male protagonist’s side and this just might be my favorite of all of the Covenant books. 5 stars!

Great writing.
Full of danger, forbidden love, decisions, war, twists, surprises, passion, action, gods, goddesses, apollyon, fate, pure bloods and half-bloods.

Review:
So this is a spin off book from the lux series. You don’t have to read the lux series but I do recommend it.
What is the story about:
The story starts with Serena’s friend freaking out about something. Talking about some weird glow in the dark person that supposedly are the senators son. So what could go wrong right. Well serena is finding out that allot can go wrong when the senator wants you dead. The senator thinks serena’s friend told her something, something very important. But serena doesn’t know, what she supposedly knows.
Hunter isn’t a guy who you should take home to your momma, he is a cold hard handsome pale eyed, dark haired, hot son of a bitch, oh yeah he is also an alien. There are two kind of aliens on earth. The luxen, who are light and there are the arum, who are darkness, shadow. Hunter is one of those arum. And he is assigned to protect Serena from harm . He didn’t think Serena would be so gorgeous, spunky and kind of a fighter. He also didn’t think aurum could develop any kind of feelings other than lust and hunger. And there is chemistry and lots of lust in their story.
What did I love about this book:
I really really really loved this book. Hunter, omg that man is so freaking hot. And the intensity between him and serena, hot danm.
I also liked to read about the aurum more. It made me think about good and bad, because no race is either good or bad. That’s also the case with the arum and the luxen. Both race’s have good and bad people.
I really liked serena, she really handled herself well. God I loved Hunter he was so snappy and sarcastic and just hilarious. I really love him, and he was hot.
OMG those scenes with serina, I feel my head getting red already thinking about it.
