I LOVED this new take on magic, witches and mythology. It was exciting and unique. Each book leaves you grabbing for the next as quickly as possible, so I recommend getting the full set so you can totally binge read them. My husband became so invested in the characters and their journey, he actually got angry when the author put the characters through certain trails.
I wish we had gotten to know some of the other characters a little more. I think each book could have been expanded on to give more depth to the other Elementals. The timeline also felt a little short, even for witches granted special powers from the Gods. These are all very minor details that did not tarnish my love for the story and the people in it.
I hope you enjoy The Elementals as much as I did!
Fantastic set this author has created! I finished one picked up the next on and on it went until alas I was done with the series. However she has plenty of other fantastic novels in her Arsenal!
Have you read Riordan’s novels? If so, these books will seem familiar. A group of five teens, four witches and one demigod, set out to save the world by sealing a portal to Kerebos. Along the way, the teens face multiple challenges and are helped by witch elders , gods, and goddesses. The teens have power over the elements: Chris over air, Danielle over water, Blake over fire, Kate over earth, and Nicole over spirit. The books are entertaining but predictable, fairly easy reads. The series would be appropriate for teens.
Still finishing series on Audible have loved it!
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this series!
Witches, Magic and Greek Mythology Come to Life in This Awesome Series
Nicole thinks she is a normal teenage girl until she moves to a new town and discovers that she is a witch descended from gods. Luckily, her powers emerge along with a small group of four others, who call themselves the Elementals. They soon discover a new magical world, that, unfortunately, also has a dangerous prison world of Kerberos that contains a lot of very dangerous monsters. The Elementals find an ancient prophecy to save the world and end up going on the ultimate scavenger hunt type of adventures. Each of the Elementals has a unique power and Nicole’s power to heal holds a much darker side that she hope she never has to use.
As the veil to the portal to Kerberos begins to weaken, the Elementals rush to fulfill the ancient prophecy and save the world. Throughout the five books, they fight drugged up islanders, sea monsters, lotus-zombies, Medusa, Hydra and many, many other dangerous, yet interesting, monsters. They also have typical teenage battles between the group (Blake used to date Danielle, but is now interested in Nicole) while battling their typical young adult, roller-coaster emotions. As they get stronger as a group, learn to work together, get a little help from the Gods, they take on battles that no mortal could win, let alone survive.
I devoured this series in one day (yes, all five books) as I was home sick in bed and needed something to make me feel better and all five books are an easy read. I could not get enough of this series. It has Greek mythology, lots of action, typical teenage angst, and a sweet romance as Nicole falls for bad-boy Blake, another Elemental. Kerberos is a fascinating, amazingly well described dark world. Even though the characters are messy teenagers with lots of young adult emotions, I truly cared about them, especially as a group, wanted them to succeed in their mission, and wanted to know what happened in the next book. Thankfully, Elementals 5: The Hands of Time, brings the series to an exciting, action-packed conclusion. Appropriate for young adults and up! I highly recommend this enjoyable series!
I really enjoyed this series. It would be perfect for teenagers or anyone who loves adventure, Greek mythology, and clean reading. The author adds in a lot of mythology, which I love. I also liked that not everything works out perfectly, the characters make mistakes along the way. The Elementals are a mixed group thrown together by fate to stop the Titans from being released. The characters have realistic fears and emotions as they travel along from adventure to adventure. It is easy to get sucked into the story line and hard to break away.
These books were very repetitive. From one book to the next it just seemed like the author changed some details but used the same theme. This book is
A teen/young adult book but if you are looking for a series for a young teen beware that there is implied sex in the last book which I didn’t feel was necessary to the story. I was bored after the first book but I hate to give up so I ended up skimming through most of the rest. I realize that I am not in the target age group but I enjoy young adult fantasy and have read many good series but this isn’t one of them. The plot was thin but the characters were likeable so I gave it two stars instead of one. I don’t recommend.
Book 1 review:
I was pulled in from the beginning of this book. Some parts reminded me of other series I have read but I loved the Greek mythology spin! I started this book last night & despite having to work today & cook dinner I finished it tonight. Now on to Book 2 in the series.
The plot is pretty clear & descriptions more than good enough to get a good picture of places, events & the characters in the book! I think may have found a new favorite author!
{I received free in hopes of writing an honest review.}
Book 2 review:
It was brought to my attention that I read very fast as I finished both of these books in less than 8 hours each. I also read it a little last night about Greek Mythology and the gods/godesses because I am the type of reader who has to know; has to understand what is written. Michelle Madow did due diligence with the Greek mythology portions of these books. They draw you in and refuse yo release you until you have finished them. Looking forward to starting the next book tomorrow.
This was a well written; well planned book with characters that jump off the page!
Book 3 review:
I have always like Greek Mythology and these books are full of it … Just know that I read it fast and was interested from start to finish. I am well outside of the YA age group but still find these books fascinating!
This book is well written as were the previous 2; Michelle Madow obviously loves what she does & it shows!
I have always like Greek Mythology and these books are full of it. Well researched and the story is very well told.
Take a chance & give the series a read!
Book 4 review:
I just finished reading this book and I was not let down.I was about to be very unhappy about some events but by the end I was looking forward to seeing what happens. Sorry about being vague but I often read reviews before reading a book & I don’t want to ruin it for anyone.
Just know that I read it fast and was interested from start to finish. I am well outside of the YA age group but still find these books fascinating!
Take a chance & give the series a read!
Book 5 review: Sad to see the series end …
I really enjoyed the fresh take on the Witch … I loved the well thought out and we’ll researched Greek Mythology references and characters in this series! I was sad to see it end the way it did but after the 4 previous books … I was not surprised. I didn’t stop reading unless I had to work, sleep, eat or if my tablet died!
NOTE: I was given the ARC of this book to read & review IF I choose to. With that said … this is the fair & honest review I CHOSE to write!
