Elegantly Denim: An Elegant Prelude (Elegant Series- Prequel)
By: Tee Smith
5 out of 5 stars
The story Elegantly Denim: An Elegant Prelude (Elegant Series- Prequel) by Tee Smith is a contemporary romance book. It includes suspense and also mystery. It will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until I had finished the last page. I enjoyed reading about the character of Denim. He is a successful businessman. He has money and power. Is that enough or does he find himself wanting more? He investigates rumors and also makes deals. Those that he employs are loyal. This is a prequel that is novella sized however the character of Denim is larger than life and the story is one that you don’t want to miss out on. Highly recommended reading.
Two Stars
Choppy and Poorly Done
This is supposed to be a prelude to the Elegant Series and this is the first of that series that I have read. It is very choppy. It gives the surface story of how Denim meets some people and even less than that for others. It gives the surface story of his family, businesses and personal ethics. It stops right in the middle of him meeting a new person. At first, it read like a short story with little detail. Then, it read like a synopsis of something the reader should have already read. Finally, it turned out to be a quickly written overview of the past. I am not intrigued with this story line. I have trouble looking past a person’s evil deeds to see his good deeds. The author does not get beneath the skin of any of the characters and most of them seem to be trite caricatures of those we always see in Mafia movies. In short, I won’t be reading this series and will think hard about reading anything else by this author.
