#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER AND THE PERFECT HOLIDAY GIFT A Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick“Beautifully written and incredibly funny, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is about the importance of friendship and human connection. I fell in love with Eleanor, an eccentric and regimented loner whose life beautifully unfolds after a chance encounter with a stranger; I think you will fall in love, … stranger; I think you will fall in love, too!” —Reese Witherspoon
No one’s ever told Eleanor that life should be better than fine.
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.
But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one.
Soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is the smart, warm, and uplifting story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .
The only way to survive is to open your heart.

This was my book club’s October choice. Thoroughly enjoyed reading about Eleanor ‘s single focus on a person and how she decided to make changes in her life. Changes with unexpected outcomes. You can’t help but make assumptions about Eleanor and the final part was surprising. I can say that I didn’t see that coming! Wouldn’t mind reading it again.
Very enjoyable read, that I will read again. I wanted to read the book before the movie came out and I am very glad I did.
Eleanor is a lonely soul doing her best to get through life. She goes through the motions of life, not really knowing she is missing the human connection. She lives alone in her thoughts and perceptions until she meets Raymond, the I. T. person at her company. He himself is awkward, nerdy, but kind. He develops a friendship over time and gives her unforeseen chances to interact at work and with a stranger in need. Eleanor realizes she is depressed, and has her uncomfortable past to work through. Unlovelable Eleanor learns much about herself and takes baby steps to jump start a new. You just don’t know how a lonely person feels until your read Eleanor Oliphant.
I enjoyed this title tremendously! I’m a great fan of A Man Called Ove; couldn’t put it down and have bought it for friends and told countless people about it! Eleanor Oliphant shares a similar quirkiness in this quick read powerhouse!! Hope she finds her way into your heart too!!
I read this book in anticipation of it being made into a movie. Loved the characters and the mystery surrounding Eleanor, which is revealed towards the end and keeps you pondering her past life. Three lonely people whose lives intertwine for the betterment of each. They make me more aware of the sentiments behind “I’m fine” when it really isn’t. The ending is encouraging.
Eleanor is a great character with a sad but redeeming history.
This is one book that I never wanted to end! I loved it!!
Eleanor is a lonely, socially awkward young woman with a mysterious background.
She is often amusing but at the same time leads a heartbreaking life.
It becomes a page turner as Eleanor has her eyes opened to the real world.
What a pleasure to read! Quirky characters inhabit a quirky world and some how make it all work out “completely fine.”
Hat’s off to the author- WELL DONE!
When I started this book I found the main character Eleanor Oliphant a little hard to like . As I got into the story and learned more about her I came to love and understand her direct manner and unique personality. First book in a long time that made me laugh out loud and cry. I actually marked a number of pages so I could go back and read certain lines that I loved . Highly recommend this entertaining well written book.
Great book
This book was at times humorous but has a heavy undertone. It took me a while to get into the book. Once the characters were more developed I got more interested. I had to finish to find out how the main character got to where she was at the beginning.
Great new author. Best book I’ve read in a long time. Very unique.
I loved this book and have recommended it often!
Eleanor is a completely original character. Very unique point of view. Perhaps it encourages the reader to reach out to people who are isolated. I was surprised by the ending
Eleanor says what all of us think and wish we could say. I laughed out loud at points. But this book is also sad, touching and heartwarming all at the same time.
With pleasure, I enjoyed the story of Eleanore who had a long way to go to return the past to her. Witty & unusual, it brought a smile to my face every several pages. Sally V.
I still tell everyone to read this delightful book!

I enjoyed it so much and had a hard time putting it down when I started reading.
Complex and depressing. Yet still a great read!
