#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER AND THE PERFECT HOLIDAY GIFT A Reese Witherspoon Book Club Pick“Beautifully written and incredibly funny, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is about the importance of friendship and human connection. I fell in love with Eleanor, an eccentric and regimented loner whose life beautifully unfolds after a chance encounter with a stranger; I think you will fall in love, … stranger; I think you will fall in love, too!” —Reese Witherspoon
No one’s ever told Eleanor that life should be better than fine.
Meet Eleanor Oliphant: She struggles with appropriate social skills and tends to say exactly what she’s thinking. Nothing is missing in her carefully timetabled life of avoiding social interactions, where weekends are punctuated by frozen pizza, vodka, and phone chats with Mummy.
But everything changes when Eleanor meets Raymond, the bumbling and deeply unhygienic IT guy from her office. When she and Raymond together save Sammy, an elderly gentleman who has fallen on the sidewalk, the three become the kinds of friends who rescue one another from the lives of isolation they have each been living. And it is Raymond’s big heart that will ultimately help Eleanor find the way to repair her own profoundly damaged one.
Soon to be a major motion picture produced by Reese Witherspoon, Eleanor Oliphant Is Completely Fine is the smart, warm, and uplifting story of an out-of-the-ordinary heroine whose deadpan weirdness and unconscious wit make for an irresistible journey as she realizes. . .
The only way to survive is to open your heart.

This was a great story with an unexpected ending. Very uplifting and thought provoking. I would recommend this with two thumbs up!
This is one of the most elegantly written books I’ve read in a long time. It handles the difficult topic of depression/mental illness with honesty and humor and tenderness. A work of art.
I didn’t want this book to end. I love Elinor and I wanted to be her friend too!
Highly recommended
If you have trouble getting into a book and put it down if it doesn’t grab you right away (or in this case, after 8 or 9 chapters), don’t even start this one. Once the boredom of the first 9 chapters was over with, I expected so much more after all the reviews I read. It was just OK, it does not compare to ‘a man called ove’ or ‘the unlikely pilgrimage of harold fry’, I’d stick with those.
Loved it!
This was a wonderful read. I fell in love with Eleanor and rooted for her throughout the story. Her world view is fascinating and quirky. She really is completely fine. I was sad when I finished the book because I could no longer visit with her.
I absolutely loved this book! It was such a wonderful and moving portrayal of trauma and recovery. I highly recommend this book!
Fabulous book from beginning to end.
The story is original with interesting characters and humor. Well written and entertaining.
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine is a surprising star among books. It takes a stilted, one-dimensional character and shows how kindness and acceptance can change a life. I absolutely loved it! Instead of pitying Eleanor, I found myself rooting for her.
It started off slow but I persevered and it really was a sweet book and definitely had a few twists and turns.
Outstanding story and for a debut novel incredible can’t wait for the second book
At first I wasn’t sure I wanted to spend an entire book with Eleanor. She didn’t start out as a very nice person or someone I could relate to. As her character developed and I learned more about her, however, she became very interesting and quite entertaining. The story was original and creative, touching and funny as Eleanor finds her way in the everyday world.
Eleanor Oliphant is fine, but as the story begins, she is anything but fine. Eleanor is a sad, lonely and somewhat eccentric 30 year old. The scar on her face is a telltale sign of a hard journey Eleanor has experienced thus far. However, she perseveres. She decides to undertake a “special project” to find her perfect life companion. But life doesn’t always cooperate…and it certainly didn’t for Eleanor.
From the first to last page, Eleanor Oliphant will hold your attention and your heart. Her antics will make you laugh; her history will make you cry, but her future will definitely make you smile.
If you liked A Man called Ove or The Rosie Project, you’ll love Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine.
Amazing deep POV story with good twist.
This was one of my favorite books. Unpredictable, heart warming characters. Must read
This book is a must read for everyone. The main character, Eleanor, reminded me of Holden Caufield in Catcher in the Rye. It’s interesting to see how the plot unfolds.
Most interesting book that I read this year.
Such a pleasant surprise. Fall in love with Eleanor and watch her blossom.
Well fashioned character, well constructed evolution in this touching tale. Wonderful author;I hope she has written others.
