In 2005, Brandon Sanderson debuted with Elantris, an epic fantasy unlike any other then on the market. To celebrate its tenth anniversary, Tor is reissuing Elantris in a special edition, a fresh chance to introduce it to the myriad readers who have since become Sanderson fans. This new edition begins with a preface by author Dan Wells, the first person to read the completed novel, and a new … completed novel, and a new afterword by Sanderson explaining how he came to write the book and its place in the Cosmere, the unified universe of all his Tor novels.
Also included is an expanded version of the “Ars Arcanum” appendix, with more of the technical details of the book’s magic that fans can never get enough of.
Elantris was truly a milestone both for Sanderson and for the genre of epic fantasy. It deserves this special treatment, something Tor has done only once before, with Orson Scott Card’s Ender’s Game. Sanderson fans old and new will be excited to discover it.
At the Publisher’s request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management Software (DRM) applied.

The corroded city of Elantris that once was filled with beautiful people, impressive buildings and extraordinary magic, is now filled with cursed souls wondering the world as dead. But there is one thing that isn’t dead and that is the knowledge of the magic system that once brought invincible life for the city’s people. This book tells the tale …
I absolutely love Sanderson. And after reading his first published story I know why. He is amazing. He gets single life and totally wrote an almost perfect love story. I was caught hook, line, and sinker. Wonderful story. Great introduction to Sanderson’ s world.
I would suggest this story for the fantasy lover. It has some great action and some …
Devoured this book and the series. I am a big fan of Sanderson’s stories and dread the waits between publications! This one is filled with magical powers, or actually the loss of same, political intrigue, and a spunky heroine finding her way…what’s not to love?
Now this is how you write a debut novel. Wonderful characters with Sanderson’s trademark world building. Check it out!
Fresh ideas and a great story in a well designed world; unusual in the SciFi/Fantasy genre.
I enjoy Brandon’s work, started with Stormlight series. Good author
The story of Elantris is incredible with layer upon layer of the most delicious detailed plot I’ve seen for a while. I think I could easily compare it to the delectable layers of a rich German chocolate cake, and I devoured it from the first few pages of this book. I devoured it and enjoyed every bite!
I tried to think of a way to share what this …
Sanderson is great
A great book to pass along a few days of pleasant reading. A lot of fantasy mixed with love and tension.
The author creates a new and original world in the unique religious and magical system, and also, shapes the characters in a real way so that the book also has interest and novelty from the fantasy, but also a human and exciting plot for each …
A standalone epic fantasy novel is a rare thing in publishing these days. (I do know that Sanderson wrote a novella in the same world but it is not connected to Elantris). Reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson and not having to wonder what will happen in Book 2 is a welcomed delight for this reader. Also, Elantris was an excellent book to finish …
For those that haven’t read a Sanderson novel, I would not yet recommend this. His writing style is a bit less polished than his later books, and reading this after something like, say, Mistborn, will not ruin your perspective of this book. If you can get through the writing, it’s honestly a great book, as is pretty much every Sanderson book …
