Beautiful, penniless American girl meets handsome, wealthy Scotsman.Sounds like the beginning of a fairy-tale romance? It’s not. This story begins with a contract. And an exchange of money.A lot of money. An angel perches nervously on one shoulder.A devil lounges smugly on my other. And even that dark little bastard is leery of what I’m doing.Maxwell Hutcheson wants the girlfriend experience. All of it. Hutcheson wants the girlfriend experience.
All of it.
And I’m going to give it to him.
I’m not supposed to enjoy being his whore.
I’m also not supposed to fall in love with him.
But I do. Both.
When our contract expires, I will walk away.
Because I have to.
But he’ll always have a piece of me.
I’ll mask my sorrow with a smile.
I’ll hide my love with indifference
… all while it’s killing me softly.
A fairy-tale romance.
It isn’t mine to have.
And this man I’ve come to love so dearly isn’t my happily ever after.
Eighty-One Nights is book one of two in a duet.
About Eighty-One Nights: While the characters from Eighty-One Nights are entirely new, their storyline is a combination of fresh material and carefully selected themes, scenes, and settings from The Beauty Series, The Sin Trilogy, Dear Agony, and Indulge. This is intentional. I chose some of my favorite elements from previous releases and interjected them into Hutch and Lou’s story. Let’s call it a “story fusion” between our old favorites and new material.

If the beautiful cover doesn’t draw you in, the blurb is sure to intrigue you just as much as it did me. Georgia has given us an unconventional relationship between two people who need it for many different reasons. Hutch is lacking companionship and intimacy, due to unfortunate circumstances in his life. Cait is a college student barely making it due to family circumstances but when her bestfriend makes her an offer she can’t refuse…..you’ll have to read to find out. This book had me hanging on every word and whether I was smiling or hurting for these two broken souls, I couldn’t stop reading. If you’ve ever read a book by Georgia Cates you know how vested you become in the story and I can honestly say this is one that will leave you reeling long after you’re done. This is a book I highly recommend but prepare yourself for one cliffy that will have you trying to turn pages that are not there because you need more Hutch and Lou!
EIGHTY-ONE NIGHTS is the first instalment in Georgie Cates’ contemporary, adult BEAUTIFUL ILLUSIONS erotic, romance duet focusing on thirty-three year old, Scottish businessman and widower Maxwell Hutcheson, and twenty-two year old, American student Caitriona ‘Lou’ Louden.
Told from dual first person points of view (Lou and Max) EIGHTY-ONE NIGHTS follows the fake boyfriend/girlfriend arrangement between thirty-three year old, Scottish businessman Maxwell Hutcheson, and twenty-two year old, American student Caitriona ‘Lou’ Louden. Maxwell Hutcheson is looking for a companion but when his best friend Brady suggests the services of Inomorata, Maxwell never expected to fall in love. Enter American Caitriona Louden aka Lou, a young woman struggling to make ends meet, including the fees for her university tuition. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Lou and Max, and the fall-out as Lou and Max’s time together comes to an end, an ending destroyed by betrayal and vengeance.
Caitriona Louden struggles with her ethics when her roommate Rachel suggests becoming an Inomorata woman, a for-hire girlfriend for rich men looking for temporary arrangements, and beautiful eye-candy. Meeting Maxwell Hutcheson finds our heroine slowly falling in love with a man whose former in-laws are unwilling to accept our heroine in his life. Targeted by more than one person willing to destroy her life, Cat is forced to walk away from the man with whom she is falling in love.
The relationship between Lou and Max is an arranged affair with an expiry date of eighty-one days. Never expecting to fall in love Lou is faced with heart break and betrayal before their time is up. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and secondary characters including Caitriona’s best friend and roommate Rachel; Max’s sister Sara, her husband Adam, as well as Max’s brother Ian Hutcheson. We are introduced to Inomorata’s chatelaine Coram her son Chambers, as well as Max’s former sister in law Blair.
If you are a fan of, or have read the author’s original BEAUTY series focusing on Jack Prescott and Laurelyn Prescott, you will notice the numerous similarities and recognizable premise to the current plot development of EIGHTY-ONE NIGHTS. There is also a slight cross-over with the author’s BEAUTY series and the mention of the band Southern Ophelia. The author has been transparent with the parallel correlations calling it a fusion of her ‘old favorites and new material’. I welcomed the familiarity as I loved the BEAUTY series but I was also hoping for some deeper twists to the original plot line.
EIGHTY-ONE NIGHTS is a familiar story of friendship, romance, heart break and love. There are moments of happiness and pain; revelations and acceptance; betrayal, vengeance, grief and loss. The premise is engaging, entertaining and captivating: the romance is seductive, provocative, and impassioned; the characters are energetic, bold and strong. EIGHTY-ONE NIGHTS end on a cliff-hanger, you have been warned.
I hate you authors that can’t put the whole story in one book. It sucks. You need to keep your reader base happy and not do this crap. Long winded books are okay but please put the whole story in one book. Some of us do not have money for 3.99 or higher books. That price is ridiculous. I gave 5 stars because I loved the book and couldn’t put it down only to find out it continues to another book. Think about people that are on disability. I am now keeping track of authors that do this, that way I know who not to buy again.
“Diamonds are beautiful. And they’re also flawed. They don’t crack, but they do cut. Be a diamond, Caitriona.”
The first installment in the Beautiful Illusions Duet, Eight-One Nights was poetic, soulful, and completely unputdownable. As a new to me author, I was unsure what to expect, but the blurb and lovely cover had intrigued me. However, the true beauty of this book lies within its pages, as Georgia Cates delivers an exceptionally riveting read. I absolutely loved the poetic value to her writing and fell in love with the descriptive imagery.
“I’m waiting for your heart to wake…so you will ask me to stay…my heart is impatiently waiting around…to hear the words it’s begging you to say…but if I remain and the words never come…it’s a pain I don’t think I can take.”
Expect well developed characters, a strong and sizzling connection, heat for days, strong heroine, and an utterly swoon-worthy hero. Maxwell Hutcheson wants the girlfriend experience without the strings in order to keep his secret, and is willing to pay whatever it takes to get it. Or more specifically the only girl to draw his attention; the girl with the chestnut hair and hazel eyes. Caitriona. Cait has been let down too many times to ever count on anyone but herself, and quickly finds herself in need of quick cash. But can she really be an inamorata? Yes, as the strong and independent woman that she is, she can. This is for her future, and she’ll do it without compromising her principles or her heart. That’s not an option since she’s built her walls to high to worry about ever having to give it away…or so she thought. Sometimes you find love where it isn’t supposed to be.

EIGHTY-ONE NIGHTS by Georgia Cates is book One in the Beautiful Illusions Duet. This starts the story of Maxwell ‘Hutch’ Hutcheson and Caitriona ‘Lou’ Louden.
Lou is an American in Scotland working on her education but bill are adding up. So she goes forward to be a contract girlfriend for about 81 nights to Maxwell. Maxwell is a Scottish man who is a rich widower who wants the girlfriend experience. A deal is struck between the two that opens them up to feelings that they weren’t really expecting. There is some suspense in their story and it is a hot read.
This is a great start to their story…can’t wait for the next book.
***4 Stars***
The blurb was the hook, and I readily admit that the whole Pretty Woman feel to it was why I decided to give this one a go and I wasn’t disappointed. I found Eighty-One Nights to be a quick, smexy and sweet read with MC’s I not only liked, but liked as a “couple” and really wanted to see where their journey took them.
It was hard not to love Maxwell and Cait aka ‘Lou’. Cait is sweet, sassy, hard working and determined to become more than her past. Maxwell is good man who is in a prison made of secrets he is forced to keep in order to keep the peace around him and needs an escape from it, even for only a moment. From the moment Max and Cait collided the chemistry between them is undeniable and I enjoyed watching as they went from being a business arrangement to friends to more and how they struggled with those blurred lines throughout the book.
This was my first read by the author, and I really enjoyed it. The writing was engaging and I enjoyed the dual first person POV’s. My only issue was that at times things dragged for me, but overall it didn’t keep me from turning the pages. And as for the supporting cast of characters, there are a few I want to gut with a spoon, can’t deny that, but Rachel and Cora were awesome. As this is a duet, there is a cliffy and while it wasn’t a total surprise, I will admit to wanting to gut the reason for it with a spoon and now must wait to see just how Max and Cait get the HEA they so richly deserve.

What a unique writing idea and a unique storyline. I was totally intrigued when I saw this book was being released. I love all things Georgia Cates!!! And this book was no exception!!
This is a fairly quick read but that is only because once you start reading you won’t want to put it down. I only did because real life got in the way!!!
I loved the concept of a “story fusion”, taking places, scenes and themes from other Georgia Cates books and giving it a new spin with new material and new characters to love!! I did LOVE both Lou and Hutch. The only reason I didn’t give this a complete 5 stars was because it seemed a little too similar to her Beauty Series. Now don’t get me wrong it is NOT the same story, but I thought it was a little too close. Maybe that is just me because I had just read the Beauty Series not that long ago. With that said I think everyone should read this book.
I think I need to go back and read the Sin Series, Dear Agony and Indulge again to see what she pulled from those stories. I did love being back in Ireland with Lou and Hutch. That reminded me of the Sin Series.
Lou and Hutch’s love story is not a traditional one at all. They meet through an agency and what starts with a contract turns into something more. I loved watching both characters open themselves up to something more.
Eighty-One Nights is book 1 of this duet, so yes it does end with a cliffhanger. I didn’t find it to be that horrible, but if you are a reader who doesn’t like them then I would recommend waiting until both books are out before reading this book.
As always I thought the writing was effortless and the flow was perfect for this story. This story is told in Dual POV!!!
I would recommend this book to all romance readers!!! I look forward to seeing where Georgia takes Lou and Hutch’s story.
All night people, I stayed up all night with this book, I couldn’t put it down. And even though I knew this was part of a duet and this is only book one, I still couldn’t put it down.
Now Ms. Cates explains in the blurb that this story is a culmination of past stories that she has written and loved, but with fresh characters. A “story fusion” and I loved it. Even with reading Ms. Cates in the past, (I loved her Sin Trilogy) this story seems fresh and new and also comfy like wrapping yourself in a favorite blanket.
This is the beginning of the story of Lou and Hutch. Unconventional meeting, unconventional contract but what is developing between them is exceptional and just swoony.
Hutch has been burned by his past relationship, he is staggering under the weight of the truth of his past. He is trying to stay afloat with what his world believes, he just wants something that is only his, all to himself and he finds that with Lou.
Oh Lou, what a tragic life she has lead in her short time here. She is wise beyond her years and has built a fortress around her soft parts. She refuses to be hurt again. When the opportunity arises start a contract with Hutch. It’s the answer to her short term prayers but can it lead to more?
This story is fantastic, it’s a fantasy wrapped in a world that I want to live in! The intrigue and mystery is just enough to keep you guessing and the ending….gaaahhhh! I am waiting on tenterhooks for the next book in this duet!
Well done, Ms. Cates!! I tip my book blogger hat to you! Readers, get this story! You will thank me later!
Absolute Perfection!!
Between student loans and bills, Caitriona “Lou” Louden works as a waitress trying to make ends meet when her friend tells her about a mysterious business named, Inamorata. It’s like a “girlfriend experience” for rich men and beautiful women. Maxwell “Hutch” Hutcheson gets dragged to a Inamorata party by his best mate. Two strangers brought together by circumstance. 3 months is what they have together. Can they keep to their arrangement or will their true feelings for one another finally get in the way? This is a breathtakingly beautiful story and I’m in love with Hutch and Lou! Who doesn’t love a sexy Scottish man!! A must read story!! “Love has a way of not caring about complicated circumstances.” No words spoken were more true than this” Told in dual POV; be prepared this ends in a cliffhanger.
I enjoyed so many things about this book.
Maxwell has recently lost his wife and holding on to so many secrets. Not being able to share with anyone is harder than he ever imagined.
Caitriona is living in Scotland, trying to obtain her education degree. Skating by and living paycheck to paycheck, she learns what her roommate is doing to make extra money.
They both turn to inamorata but for two very different reasons. She is looking for a way to make a little extra money on top of her waitress job. He approaches inamorata to find someone just to spend some time with him. They come to agree to 81 days and nights together.
Can they spend just 81 days/nights together and not get attached to each other?
Max and Caitriona started their journey as perfect Girlfriend Experience, than blossomed in to a perfect for each other. It was an absolute delight to read and meet Max & his Lou. We also get to revisit some reprising characters from other series. Georgia did wonderful job with the story and characters.
Yes, some people will compare Eighty-One Nights with Beauty Series but there are also some different elements here. I absolutely loved it. I would definitely recommend it.
This is Book 1 of the Beautiful Illusions Duet.
This is the story of Maxwell (Hutch) & Caitriona (Cait, Lou). Maxwell is an Investment Fund Manager and a widower. Cait just started at an escort service, just for the summer. She needs money to finish her last two semeters at college. He ends up being her first client for an exclusive three months. Maxwell wants the whole girlfriend experience. His life is very complicated. This is a very heartwarming story when they are together, although there are complications, not between them, though. I loved reading the first part of this story. They get along so well, and Maxwell treats Cait very well. They are wonderful characters. Then we come to the end of Book 1, which ends with a bit a cliffhanger. I absolutely loved this book and I am looking forward to Book 2.
Cliffhanger, you need to buy the second book to get to the end of their story.
Exceptional story, loved it
Truly enjoyed this book-read it in one day
Hutch and Lou’s story is wonderful
Can’t wait to read the next book for the conclusion
It was HOT and just what you expected it to be.
Loved it!
If you don’t buy the second book, you are wasting your time
This 1st book left me hanging with an unresolved ending. Had to buy the 2nd book. Enjoyed both!
Characters work well together. Good storyline.
