“This is a great fast-paced adventure that I recommend as an entertaining read in the vein of Rollins and Cussler, and checks off all the boxes of things I enjoy and expect in such novels- adventure in exotic parts of the world, ancient artifacts and lost civilizations, danger in many forms, from a hostile environment to evil mercenaries with guns.”

“If you’re a fan of folks like James Rollins or Matthew Reilly, this book is for you!… I refuse to spoil the nature of our beasties – and there’s more to them at first glance than things that want to chomp you – but they are awesome!… I expect to read Mortensen in the future. I also expect to be paying big bucks for his books as he rides alongside James Rollins and Matthew Reilly in success. A very good read!”

“On several occasions when I thought he had run out of options to keep the action going, the author would manage to do so. In fact there were no lulls in the action and by the end of the story I had become accustomed to the pace. I would easily recommend this for anyone craving action and excitement in a great read.”

“I decided to start with a quick few pages while waiting for a meeting and then was 20 mins late because I forgot to look up.. I drifted through the meeting wondering what could happen to the young girl in the book on her journey and just where the storyline could or would be going! I then decided I needed to have a rare afternoon off just to get to the end of the book, just to see if the writer could keep this going at the pace that the book started with, but, every time I thought I could slow down for a break, something else happened in the wild twists and turns to pin me right back in my seat. I must admit in all humility, that I now have a new phobia and the storyline scared the (Beep) out of me more than once!. The writing was brilliant and easy to follow, didn’t overpower me with too much detail, just enough to understand the situation and flowed so smoothly from one situation to another with surprises around every bush, that I didn’t even realize I had finished. Wow good writer and great style. Thank you.”

I really enjoyed this book. Just when I thought the characters were going to be safe something else happens. I haven’t seen the authors biography but I don’t recognize some of the words. I don’t like to stop reading to look up the meaning of these. However that wouldn’t keep me from reading another of the authors books.
More to it than I expected. Lots of excitement.
Very exciting, suspenseful and unique. A great read.
The story was ok. characters were ok
I loved this book. It takes place in the Amazon jungle, has great characters and lots of action and suspense. I love a long book and this one is over five-hundred pages. Very well written. A highly recommended read.
A great read, hard to put down, but had to because it’s so scary
Few books keep my interest like this one did. Sure, i could do with out the F word used so often, but the author put a lot of thought and development into each character. He makes it easy for your own imagination to take over which is the mark of a good read. It is science fiction with some realism blended in. Scary at times and action pact.
This would be a really good 300 page book. Unfortunately it takes the author 580 pages to tell the story. It just takes too long to develop.
Starts out very slow but picks up. I would have liked to have had less of the F word.
Kind of put me off. I read it but did not keep it as I would not read it again.
Entertaining is about all I can say
Somewhat entertaining but unrealistic. Just enough plot twists to keep my imagination and interest in the outcome
Just like the main characters of this story were blindsided but the horror they encountered, I had no idea what I was getting into when I began reading. It was NOT what I expected – no where near it.
Despite a slow start, this story becomes a fast-moving landslide filled with action and frightening detail. It’s both fascinating and terrifying. In fact, I almost wish I hadn’t read it, it’s that scary.
However, if you like science fiction, a good plot and well-developed characters, this is for you.
But don’t read it when you’re alone in the dark……(just wait, you’ll find out!)
Unrealistic ending
“Eight” by WW Mortensen is a wonderful adventure into the Amazonian jungle. This book with its tropical details makes the reader feel like they are actually one of the team player’s. Although being over 500 pages had me thinking I would stop reading it before the end; the innovative plot and descriptive twists and turns had me holding on to the very end. Mortensen delivered an energetic thriller that showed deep thought and profound thinking. HIs possibility thinking leads to a very enjoyable read in my book!
This one caught me and kept me turning the pages. Be warned, if the creepy, crawliness of spiders gets to you, this one will make you shiver. But I loved it.
Enjoyable read, recommend.
Amazing plot and characters. Strong, brave women. Complex emotions that, in the end, define love: wishing the best for someone you may still love. Edge of your chair excitement! Interesting theory that I buy into about extraterrestrial life.
Very different kind of book, almost sci-fi but not. Interesting and captivating read
Hard to put down.
Couldn’t put it down.
Surreal, but highly entertaining. Cardiac stress test of reading excitement!
