This author hands down is the best at quickly dragging you into a story and you stay there until the very last page.
Oh boy, the description of each scene is so vivid at times you feel like you are there experiencing what is happening, going through every emotion with each character and feeling everything physically and mentally too.
This story goes into a cleverly designed plot as do all of the stories in this series. The depth of the issues seem to be a bit shallower but don’t be fooled.
The characters we have come to know and enjoy are there front and centre, some giving us scares too. I have to say Sofia annoyed me in this story, but I think that was intentional. I don’t know how I would react to killing someone though so shouldn’t judge her.
Family and the importance of all kinds of families, acceptance, trust and loyalty are just a few of the things explored in this story that make this a sensational read.
Yet again this author has written a book that will keep you guessing.
I think she must be queen of red herrings as every time you think you have a handle on what’s going on, a clue leading you somewhere else entirely.
I don’t think this series could ever get old.
Sad it’s almost over.
What an amazing written book. This story was full of mystery, suspense, murder, and love. Reading this I was sitting on the edge of my seat. Couldn’t put this book down until finished. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
This one will have you head and emotions all over the place and it don’t let go. The whole family is back again and take you on an intense, emotional, dark, heartbreaking read that will pull in and have you trying to guess who is doing what and will everyone make out. This one made me cry, and drive me up the wall trying to figure it out. By the end it made sense and had me wanting more and more. Another amazing read and can’t cant wait to read the next.
Wow! This story kept me guessing.
Enduring one deadly encounter is bad enough. But these characters now have to suffer yet another threat to their lives. Who is the killer? Can they stop them before it too late?
This books was so good and I can’t wait for more to see what happens
Another fabulous addition in the series that will having you guessing until the end. With only 2 books left, I wonder how much more trouble can these characters possibly find themselves in and can they all survive until the end of the series??
This author has a way of shocking you with the crazy killers in ways that I never expect. Probably the best series I’ve read in a long time! Can’t wait for Nine!
Another suspenseful, action packed thrill ride!! Jane Blythe sure knows how to weave an incredible story that not only keeps you entertained but she throws in many twists & turns that will keep you guessing right up until the end and Eight was no exception.
This series has been so good with every single book and I still can’t get over how descriptive it is and how vivid the picture is. Sofia did what she had to do to save the women at the shelter but her Ryan is very worried about the mental toll it will take on his wife, he’s very proud of her but very worried how she will deal with the fallout and when the fallout is even more then anyone can imagine with victims becoming murdered they feel like they are dealing with a ticking clock
I love this series! Eight books into it and I’m still on the edge of my seat everytime!
Theres red herrings everywhere which will keep you guessing until the end.
I cant believe its coming to an end soon!
4*
The womens rescue centre has become sophie’s life along with her friends Laura & Annabel it’s running really well.
When Macey and her daughter Elle get encouraged to leave her abusive husband Declan they find themselves at the centre.
There are rumours circulating about the two but what is true?
The Detective family together again to solve the case.
I love reading about these characters each story sees the family grow and develop work wise & family wise.
Another great story
Book number Eight in the Count to Ten series is just as chilling and thrilling as the first Seven. Jane has a way with words and keeping the suspense going. It was great to catch up with this gang of family and friends and see what horror they run into in this book.
An action packed, suspenseful novel that will have you holding your breath until the killer has been caught. I loved ghr the ending and I can’t wait to read the next book in this very exciting series!
When Deacon Staines enters the Matilda Rose Women’s and Children’s Center no one has any idea how far he will go to get his wife, Macey, or daughter, Ella, back. The day turns to tragedy and the people left behind are trying to pick up the pieces, especially Sofia Xander who started the center.
But now the remaining hostages are being killed off and detectives Ryan Xander and his partner Paige must figure out who the killer is before they themselves are killed.
This is another great book in this series and I have been enjoying all of the books from start to finish.
This book had so many twists and turns that you have a sneaking suspicion about something but then realize that there is something deeper going on.
I was so proud of Sofia for doing what had to be done but the damage it did on her was huge! She began pulling away from everyone, specifically Ryan, and it was sad to watch her fall apart. I crossed my fingers that she would be able to recover and get the help that Ryan suggested to her.
Ryan and Paige were working so hard at following the clues that they got and yet at times they were almost being led in circles. They had their suspicions about certain individuals yet were never 100% sure.
The killer was so cold and calculated and you knew that they would not stop at anything to get what they wanted. I had my guess and I was right but I still needed to know what was behind it all and I was definitely shocked at what was revealed!
The end was definitely tense and I was curious to see how it was all going to go and who was going to be able to escape from the killer at the end!!
Can’t wait for the next book!
If you have read any of the ones proceeding this one then you know your nose had to be in this one. This author has you hooked with this series with the style she uses to essentially captivate us. Sofia and Ryan are explosive characters in this with the drama that surrounds them leaving you riveted to the story. The mystery is thick with those dropping around them leaves you wondering also. Actions in this one leave scares but also the wrong ones could be deadly. The author like I said knows how to bait and hook her reader keeping us on this one until we can not take anymore but oh we do want more.
Eight was such a wonderful story! I really enjoyed reading it because it pulled in all the main characters that have been a part of this series so far. Also, there was justice for a character that was featured in Seven, so I can sleep better at night, yay, ha ha ha. In this story, the women in the Xander family all have known what it is like to be abused in one form or another and all have an invested interest in the center for abused women and children that’s run by Sofia Xander. Despite knowing that there could be some safety issues just due to the nature of the service they offer, no one had ever considered that a hostage situation would come to fruition in such a deadly manner or would have such an impact on all those involved.
There were many moving parts in Eight with the emotional impact on Sofia, the fallout from being held hostage, the ongoing investigation into the victims from the previous book, as well as suspicious accidents that were befalling those who were witness to the hostage situation. Every page was packed with action, suspense, or emotional moments. I absolutely adored the strength of this family as they weathered many different type storms in this story. I will say that I wasn’t the biggest fan of how Sofia handled her emotional reaction to her life or death choices but luckily things did turn around for her. Overall, Eight was a fabulous addition to the Count to Ten series and I can’t wait to see what Nine has in store for us!
This review is based on a complimentary book I received from Author, Jane Blythe. It is an honest and voluntary review. The complimentary receipt of it in no way affected my review or rating.
I have been lucky enough to read all seven of the previous books and each one pulls me in for different reasons and leaves me waiting not so patiently for the next in this one
Sofia and Ryan have been through so much and now someone is killing off the survivors, with what is going on Ryan is worried he might just lose his wife no matter what happens , Sofia is having a hard time dealing with having to kill a man to protect others and she is pushing all her over ones away but now that the killer is after the survivors she is rethinking everything
After 15 years of marriage Deacon becomes an abusive husband. His wife, Macey, and their daughter, Elle seek safety at a woman’s shelter run by Sophia. Six months later he locates them and holds the women at the shelter hostage.
Sophia can’t believe she took a human life. Her actions weigh heavily on her mind causing her to push her husband away.
Detective Ryan knows first hand how it feels to take another person’s life. He’s proud of his wife for saving the women at the shelter, but he’s losing her. Her actions are destroying their marriage.
Witnesses from the hostage crisis are turning up dead. Macey and Elle become suspects, but what reason would they have to kill the witnesses?
Eight is full of murder and suspense that will grab you from the first page. A tight knit family of cops. The characters you will fall in love with. The plot keeps you guessing at every turn.
I would definitely recommend the Count to Ten Series. A very addicting series that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Can’t wait for next installment, Nine due June 1st.
Eight by Jane Blythe is full of chills and thrills, action and mystery, mayhem and murder and is a great next book in the series. I am loving this series. Jane has written characters that are well developed and I fell in love with each and every one of them. Who doesn’t like a great book that has everything, from suspense, danger and drama, murder and secrets. Jane Blythe knows how to weave her magic and provide us with a story that is full of pain and horror with lots of twists leaving you feeling intense emotions. This book is well written and addicting, with a storyline that is captivating. If you love a good murder thriller, then Jayne is your girl and this book is one you will not want to walk away from. I can’t wait for the next book.
