The night I met Drew Jagger, he’d just broken into my new Park Avenue office. I dialed 9-1-1 before proceeding to attack him with my fancy new Krav Maga skills. He quickly restrained me, then chuckled, finding my attempted assault amusing.Of course, my intruder had to be arrogant. Only, turned out, he wasn’t an intruder at all.Drew was the rightful occupant of my new office. He’d been on vacation … been on vacation while his posh space was renovated. Which was how a scammer got away with leasing me office space that wasn’t really available for rent. I was swindled out of ten grand.
The next day, after hours at the police station, Drew took pity on me and made me an offer I couldn’t refuse. In exchange for answering his phones while his secretary was out, he’d let me stay until I found a new place. I probably should have acted grateful and kept my mouth shut when I overheard the advice he was spewing to his clients. But I couldn’t help giving him a piece of my mind. I never expected my body to react every time we argued. Especially when that was all we seemed to be able to do.
The two of us were complete opposites. Drew was a bitter, angry, gorgeous-as-all-hell, destroyer of relationships. And my job was to help people save their marriages. The only thing the two of us had in common was the space we were sharing. And an attraction that was getting harder to deny by the day.

Egomaniac (Kindle) by Vi Keeland .. What can. I say…I loved this book… Emerie and Drew two total opposites …there is lots of dirty talk, steamy sex, family matters, laughs, tears, angst all getting us to a very HEA.. I must admit I had to stop reading for a few minutes at the end to dry my happy tears.

Easy, breezy read
I primarily read romantic suspense and/or dark romance, but every now and then I really need a contemporary romance to give myself a break from the heavy reads and cleanse my palate. And this worked great for that.
I liked the cocky/arrogant attitude (but was it REALLY arrogance, or something else entirely?) of Drew against the wholesome midwestern ways of Emerie. He was hardened, throwing himself into work and keeping everyone (especially women) at arms’ length. Or further.
She was bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, fresh into town from Oklahoma and clueless about NYC. She was, and had been for the past three years, in unrequited love hell. Throw them together and shake for at least 30 seconds.
I enjoyed the slow burn of this book. Oh, but slow burns are so satisfying. Both were reluctant to admit to feelings for different reasons. Or, well, the same reason but manifested in two ways. After they finally pull their heads out of their rear ends and start acting like the full-grown adults that they are we finally get somewhere! And that somewhere is an extended ticket to pound town. My favorite book destination.
I thought the incorporation of the emotional elements was done well with this book. I really enjoyed the scenes with Beck. The reveal of the secret that Drew initially keeps from Emerie about it tugged at my heart. Hard. I can’t imagine being in that situation. No wonder he had hangups about women after that whole situation.
All in all, I got what I needed from this read. I wanted a contemporary romance with an HEA, a hot, arrogant hero, and smoking smexy times. Check!
This wasn’t my favorite from this author, but that’s only because she has some other really dynamite books that I happen to like more. I do recommend this one for a contemporary romance read.
Drew and Emerie are the perfect opposites – Drew the jaded, NYC, divorce attorney and Emerie the naive, midwest, relationship psychologist. Despite how hilariously they first meet and how different their POVs are about life and relationships, they become friends before lovers and I truly respected their strong relationship development. It certainly helped them face all the plot twists and turns that came their way as the story progressed. This story was another winner for me of Vi Keeland’s and I know you’ll also appreciate this gem of a storyline, too.
I absolutely loved Drew and Emery’s unique love story. Their witty banter had me laughing out loud from beginning to end. I was emotionally involved in their journey from friends to lovers and even shed a few tears. This was an entertaining read!

Office romance fans, here is your next favorite read/listen. I loved this story. It had me cracking up from the start. Emerie thinks that Drew is breaking into her new office. The reality is that she got scammed and while he was on vacation someone leased out part of his office to her. Instead of throwing her out on the street he lets her stay until she can find a new office. They are total opposites. She helps marriages. He helps people get divorced. He is jaded by heartbreak. She is hopeful for love. They are a perfect match, though. They are just what each other needs. But Emerie’s crush on her neighbor and best guy friend gets in the way. Also Drew’s reluctance to believe in love due his nightmare of an ex wife stops him from letting himself be happy. There is so much drama in this story I couldn’t stop listening. These narrators really brought these characters to life. Another great story from Vi Keeland. There were so many times she had me surprised. I promise you that you won’t be able to stop reading/listening. But make sure you have those headphones in because this is a steamy one.

Just when I think Vi Keeland’s books can’t get any better, she releases Egomaniac.
This is probably my favorite of Vi’s books to date. I loved everything about this story and the characters she created. She gave us an interesting storyline that was at times funny, at times very steamy and she even gave us some heartbreak. But in the end she left us with a huge smile on our faces and warmth in our heart. Vi always finds a way to give her readers something new with every book she releases. Egomaniac is no different. This story wasn’t what I was expecting, but that is a good thing….it took me by surprise. I always love the underlying theme Vi adds to her stories without being obvious.
Egomaniac is a standalone novel told from Dual POV. You do NOT need to read any other book by Vi before reading this book. So this would be a great start to introduce yourself to this fabulous writer if you haven’t read anything by her yet. And if you are a Vi Keeland fan you don’t want to miss this gem!!! Her writing is always flawless to me. She has the ability to write a descriptive story without slowing down the pace or flow of the story. She gives us just the right amount of drama to keep the reader turning the pages and rooting for the couple’s HEA.
In this book we meet Drew and Emerie. Drew is an Attorney and has been on vacation for two weeks, when he returns back to his office to find Emerie has moved in. Emerie is a psychologist and thought she was renting this amazing office on Park Avenue in NYC. Colored her surprise when Drew shows up and says it is his office and she was scammed. What happens then is a comical story of two people who find an amazing friendship, that might also turn into something more. What happens when two people find love when they least expect it??? Read this book to find out.
One thing Vi has a great ability for also is giving her readers not only a fabulous main couple to root for, but also great secondary characters. I absolutely loved Roman (Drew’s BFF) I really hope we get to see a story for him.
I never feel like I do Vi’s books justice through my reviews, so I will just leave you with this thought…. READ THIS BOOK!!! You won’t be sorry!!!
Drew and Emerie are two polar opposites that eventually show each other how true love should be, despite what previous experiences and books have taught them. Drew is a scorned lawyer who can go from a filthy talking alpha male to a sweetheart in record time. Emerie is a marriage counselor that has a heart of gold but has been strung along by her long time crush. The pair together are amazing. I loved every aspect of this story, from the inclusion of adoption and “Gotcha Day” to the evolution of the ultimate Egomaniac. There were unexpected plot twists and moments of absolute heartbreak. It all comes together beautifully in the end though.
OMG, I loved this!! Emery and her sweet, optimistic view of the world. Drew and his cynical view that Emery conquers. Their hilarious meet cute. The steamy chemistry. The sweet relationship with his son. Wanted to punch his ex, Alexa (which btw, when her name is spoken while I was listening sets off my Kindle when I have the Alexa app activated, hilarious). This book is streamy, sweet, has a touch of drama. Just the right blend of all the deliciousness plus drama. Love, love, loved it!!
I love Vi Keeland 🙂 she writes such great characters 🙂
I really enjoyed this book ,it was so good and i loved every second of it 🙂
Omg Drew is awesome ,he’s a bit bitter after what happens with his ex-wife but he doesn’t let that effect his relationship with his son and it was so cute seeing them together 🙂 i also love how sweet he is too Emerie 🙂 i loved their first meeting ,it was so funny and omg the things he says to her (whew hot super hot) they are total opposites and it totally works for them 🙂
I really liked Emerie ,she is a great character ,she believes in happy relationships and working though problems and Drew totally makes fun of her after hearing some of the advice she gives her clients ,they banter back and forth about real things and it was so great to see their different takes on situations 🙂 they both learn from each other and it was great to see that they were willing to do anything to make it work 🙂
Omg i don;t think i’ve hated a character more then i hate Alexa ,she is the worst ,omg i don’t even know how Drew made it 5 seconds with her let alone 5 years !
This book has sweet moments and super sexy steamy omg is my book gonna catch of fire because the scenes are so hot moments 🙂 & i loved it
Listened to it on Audible and thought it was so entertaining.
I definitely enjoyed reading this book and the banter between the two lead characters. It’s really worth the read! For me, a definite 4,5 stars!
Drew heads to his office after a two week vacation and expects the work on his office to be finished but what he finds there is a woman who thinks he’s a burglar and threatens to call the police on him.
Emery has been scammed into thinking she was renting the space for a cheap price but when she meets Drew, her world is turned upside down. They work out an arrangement that suits both of them. The more their worlds collide, the more they open up to each other. They’ll learn even more that although they are opposites, opposites attract… And in the end both will find something they never expected to happen…
A very entertaining listen…
I have to say, getting the right narrator for the job makes an awesome story into an even better listen. I know I can count on Vi Keeland to produce the goods when it comes to entertaining reads and she did not let me down when it came to Egomaniac. The title pretty much gives away what sort of hero we would be getting, but honestly, Drew is so much more.
Even though there is a wee bit of drama, I couldn’t help but find this an easy and entertaining listen. You’re completely distracted by their woes because the author manages to keep it pretty upbeat most of the time. I think you know deep down that their stumbling blocks are just that and whatever obstacle they face, this couple will rally together to overcome their problems.
Drew and Emerie have a very funny first meeting and Drew does not disappoint in acting like the Egomaniac that he is. I will even admit to finding him a little unappealing at first. Actually, I take that back. I found Drew VERY appealing…for fling material and didn’t really see him having “staying” power when it comes to relationships. As time goes on though, he does the one thing that will always win me over…he becomes possessive and even a little territorial. I love that in my romance reads and Drew wears green very well.
The narrators do a fabulous job and I found them very easy to listen to together. A good audio makes you feel like the two narrators are sitting in a room, acting it out, and almost living it. Both Andi Arndt and Joe Arden had me convinced they’re best friends and have known each other for years. SUCCESS!!
Thank you Vi Keeland for making my trip to work a wee bit more exciting and leaving me with a big goofy grin.
It’s like my brain and heart are on two different pages. Seriously, who wants an arrogant egomaniac…who wants a cocky jerk…who thinks that a know it all, anti-relationship, divorce lawyer is HEA material!?!? No one because one night stand expert Drew Jagger isn’t anyone’s happily ever after…Except that he totally became mine!!!
I fell in love with that egomaniac. That arrogant all knowing anti-relationship one night stand expert isn’t everything I thought he was. No, Drew Jagger is soooo much more. So whether it was intentional or not, despite my brain and heart fighting, I fell for an egomaniac.
I let his sweet yet filthy talking mouth lure me in. His gorgeous eyes, panty melting smile and amazing charisma charm me out of my pants. I was in lust when this story began, of course I was, but somewhere this amazingly complicated man stole my heart. And I’d bet that I’m not alone! (I may also have a small crush on my new best friend Roman, but that’s to be expected.)
So let me warn you now, Drew Jagger may not be the man of your dreams but he will be once you read this book.
This book is the best example of why I preorder Vi Keeland books without even knowing what the book is about. They just keep getting better and better and this book did not disappoint at all.
I laughed out loud, I blushed and even had a few tears whilst reading this book and there is no way you could not say this book was boring loved every minute of it.
Emerie was everything you wanted in a character, she followed her heart to New York, she got scammed and did everything you’re not supposed to do when moving to a new city. I loved the way she looked at marriage and fighting for love, but meeting Drew Jagger was always going to be a challenge.
Holy smoke Drew Jagger was everything you want in a man, sexy, good looking, dirty talking and guy with a brain. The only thing that brought him down was his lack of wanting love, until he met
Emerie and she would sure try to change his mind, but as the book goes we learn why drew is so put off love.
I love the way this book took us back but was Prominently based in the present, I loved the Dual point of view and the way the two main characters always argued or knew how to annoy the absolute crap out of one other.
I loved the inclusion of Beck he was such a great part of the story and I even liked Roman as well.
Absolutely fantastic book I couldn’t recommend this book enough, This book deserves a lot more than 5 stars but that’s all I can give a very very high 5 stars and congrats Vi to making on the NYT Bestseller List with this book, if that’s not another reason to pick this up then I am not sure what else I can say to convince you
Wow! 5 EgoManiac Stars. You won’t be able to not fall head over heels in love with Drew. So cocky, flirty and when you get to know him so sweet. Loved Emerie and her sass. Together makes for a funny, HOT read. I highly recommend this book. You’re definitely missing out if you don’t meet Drew.
Top 2017 Favorite! Egomaniac completely blew me away and was one of the best romantic love stories that I have ever read!
Vi Keeland is beyond talented and will never cease to amaze me with the truly unforgettable and addictive storylines and characters she creates in all of her books. Her writing style is flawless and I will never stop reading and loving her books. She is, and always will be, an auto-buy author for me.
Drew and Emerie’s story in Egomaniac has been my absolute favorite novel of Ms. Keeland’s to date. Drew and Emerie were extremely likable characters and I fell head over heels in love with them and their story from the very beginning. These two captured my heart on the very first page and made my heart burst with happiness on the very last. Every single moment of their story was highly entertaining to read and I never once got bored. I was immediately hooked and couldn’t wait to read more. I also loved that Ms. Keeland told Drew and Emerie’s story from both of their POV. It added more depth and intrigue to the story and I was very glad to read what both characters were thinking and feeling throughout. The balance of humor, drama, and romance was superb, and I literally loved just about every single aspect of this book. I was so sad when I finished reading Drew and Emerie’s story, but couldn’t have been more thrilled with the conclusion. I was ecstatic with the way the author ended the book, and it put a very happy smile on my face.
Egomaniac was one of the best love stories that I have ever read, and I will cherish, remember, and reread it for a very long time to come. If this review hasn’t convinced you to go read this, and all of Vi Keeland’s other phenomenal novels, then I don’t know what will! 🙂
I’m keeping it short and simple. I went in blind with this one. I didn’t care what it was about because I was going to read it no matter what, that’s how I roll with this authors books. I stayed up until 3:30 am to finish it and I absolutely loved it! Loooooved it! It was fun, Drew and Emerie are fantastic together and I smiled so much while reading it. I love reading books that make me giddy about the characters. So 5 big stars for Drew’s huge…ego!
With this book, Vi has already become one of those authors who I will read everything she writes when she publishes it.
I loved Egomaniac from beginning to end. From chapter 1 I felt in Drew’s charm and I loved him immediately. And the chemistry between him and Emerie is out of this world. I loved this couple.
It is a fun reading, which will make you have a pleasant time, but also it has moments that will squeeze your heart.
And although I loved it just like BM, it should be noted that they are different. Vi does not repeat the same formula, the only thing that has in common, as I said in another review, is that Vi knows how to write to her men main characters, all so charming from the start. That is the hook of her stories.
Drew Jagger.
He earns his egomaniac name. Cocky, alpha male on the outside. Mushy on the inside.
“You’re a beautiful man, Drew Jagger. And I don’t mean on the outside.”
Emerie was everything Drew Jagger needed.
“You’re the red in my black and white world.”
I just love these two together!!
“I’d go three hundred and sixty-four days thirsty if it meant I got to drink you in for just one.”
I love everything that Vi writes. Seriously every single thing she writes, I read and I adore. If she isn’t on your “go-to” author list…she should be.
