4.5 stars!
I liked this book far better than the previous four.
The main characters Lindsey and Zander were tours de force royale. Excellent development. Realistic expectations in how these characters evolved and interacted with other characters in the Mountain Masters/Dark Haven world. The writer made me feel very sympathetic towards them throughout the story. Lots of physical/verbal interaction and emotional head space. Sinclair sidestepped many predictable little landmines throughout. There were times I could have sworn the action would have followed a well-worn, predictable path, but lo and behold! Nothing of the sort! It was a breath of fresh air for a writer to take the lesser road travelled, allowing the action to flow in a realistic direction. By the tine I finished this ebook, I had a far-better understanding of Lindsey and Zander, one of Sinclair’s better couples.
The world-building continued, showing us Simon’s business empire as well as Xaviar’s realm of political influence. I got to “see” more of Dark Haven, adding to the diorama in my head. I could have drifted to sleep, playing in the dungeon of the Dark Haven firmly embedded in my imagination. (I wonder what my first night there might be?)
I appreciate the interactions of our main characters with the main characters from previous books. Wow! Lots of fun! Now we have baby Ansel on the scene, Becca’s and Logan’s little baby boy. (I wonder what he’ll think about his parents’ dungeon activities. It’s hard enough to think about one’s parents having sex at all, let along BDSM!) Unfortunately, we’ll never know because i have yet to read any romance story addressing the next generation.
I will warn you. This book is graphic. And I mean SM graphic. Big-time triggers present, believe you me. So take your time. Take plenty of breaks. Have a few lighter reading materials around to help you decompress because this book is intense.
Because of this book, I highly recommend buying the entire series. This book make the others worth it, and it encouraged me to go back and reread the entire series once again. I only hope we’ll find out what’s going on with the newly met FBI agent and Dixon. I hope these two get their own book!!

Thank you, Liz K, a reviewer on Amazon!
All the twists and turns in this book kept me on my toes and made me not want to put it down.
To be betrayed in such a way and loosing everything would make anyone give up, but not Lindsey. She finds a safe place for herself, or does she? A good Dom sees everything and the clubs Enforcer has trust issues that make him see more than most. Loved this book.
This is the 2nd sadist character Cherise has written. The first character, his woman was a masochist so it made sense they’d be perfect for each other after working through some issues. In Edge, Lindsey is neither a masochist nor does she want to be one. So how can this work, right?
Well, it worked perfectly of course with many bumps along the way. I also love that in some of the more recent books from Cherise a lot of time is spent out of the BDSM Clubs and shows the characters in their jobs and lives away from the Dom/Sub situations in the Club.
Alexander deVries is both a mercenary and in the security business working for Simon. Its after a mission his masochist needs come out and he needs to decompress at the Club. Since the subs he mainly scenes with are men its assumed he’s bi-sexual. That is not the case and I liked and understood the reason he gave.
Lindsey has been working as one of the receptionist manning the front desk of Dark Haven. We’d met her in a previous book but didn’t know the secret she was hiding from everyone. Turns out she killed her husband in self defense and has been on the run ever since.
Lindsey owes deVries from losing in game that was played in a previous book, when he calls that token in both of their lives change but with deVries having a few hang ups from an ex wife and Lindsey being hunted by men that will kill her if they find her there road to happiness is not an easy one.
The story is equal parts BDSM and outside life. Its written so it all blends perfectly. Every character from the previous Mountain Masters and Dark Haven make an appearance in this book which was great to see how all the couples were doing and even getting to see them in action when things go south when the men hunting Lindsey find her.
I am always sad when I come to the end of a Cherise book, I could read her stories forever.
If you like your BDSM with lots of cuddles (I know, right?! But I do!) and a hero that is crusty on the outside and a marshmallow on the inside, I love Cherise Sinclair. I grabbed this one from the shelf and it was definitely a winner.
